Years ago an MIT student every day put bird seed and crumbs on Harvard's field and blew a whistle (Pavlov conditioning) and when Yale played Harvard that year, anytime a whistle was blown pigeons would attack the field. My guess is this is something similar. Some kid played a long prank

Same thing happened during the Steelers game the week before, which caused a local reporter to do some digging. It turns out because it had been so unseasonably warm in Pittsburgh the grounds crew has been putting down grass seeds as part of their field maintenance. The pigeons were coming in to eat it to try to fatten up before the winter. So the announcers weren't that far off. Go team!

this happens most cubs home games at wrigley field. the seagulls know what time of day games usually end, either from the actual time but more likely when fair-weather fans leave. they start grazing the outfield about the 8th inning. big white birds all over a field you play on with a smaller white ball😂

did you listen to or watch the video? This is fresh grass so it likely has some seeds and insects in it. the birds are clearly eating something. the commentary mentions this.
