i agree with Callen on this one. This isn't UFC 1 where Royce can beat a Heavyweight. Fighters these days are just too skilled. Size definitely matters in this era.

Conor's height in his early fights was marked as 5.8. He hasn't grown an inch since he was 22 years old. It's more likely that they added an inch to his stats. They used to say Tyson was 5.11 and a half in his hayday. It's just an exaggeration.
@ouncy
@ouncy 8 лет назад
+ouncy He is marked as '5.9 feet, 175cm', which doesn't make any sense seeing as 175cm barely comes to 5.7 and a half?
@TheCelticWayy
@TheCelticWayy 8 лет назад
+ouncy 175cm is 5'9". I agree that Conor could be 173cm (5'8") though. In general for most UFC listings, subtracting an inch will be closer to the fighter's true height.

Another display of why this is the furthest thing from a credible MMA podcast. According to Brendan - Nate doesn't have better endurance than McGregor. McGregor beats Lawler. Nate doesn't knock people out. Johnson isn't as talented as McGregor. Next week on an average fighter at best who's now retired talks shit about current fighters...

Brendan is being needlessly contrarian imo. Conor isn't that tall. Conor himself said he's 5 ft 9 inch so that means he's probs 5 ft 8 inches *at most* barefoot. Also the size *does* matter. He's right in that Robbie is a good match up compared to most at 170 and size is not the be all end all but it makes more of the match ups bad match ups that wouldn't be otherwise if they were 155 fighters because of reach / power & strength / ability to absorb punishment and ability to manhandle Conor and take him down (his Achilles heel).
@BG-sj7zh
@BG-sj7zh 8 лет назад
schaub is unbearbale. Calln is obviously right. Even in Jiu Jitsu were size is less a factor over skill a 200lb blackbelt with a comparable skill set with a 140 lb black belt will win 95 percent of the time. The way he argues his point is pathetic and his point is pathetic

Bryan is right, there is a reason we have a weight class. Conor is naturally a lightweight but put Wonderboy or Lawler next to Conor they are way different. Lawler used to be a middleweight. Nate is tall but his frame is small compared to a guys like Rory. Nate is just a big 155er while Rory and Lawler are big WW. Plus Brendan must be smoking some hard weed because Werdum is a tall dude. Bryan was talking about height reach which are a big factor in a fight, Look at JBJ. Plus Wonderboy extends his reach more than Conor and I agree his frame fits 170.

never thought bryan would know more about fighting than brendan a former fighter.. brendan is ridiculous to think conor can beat robbie

Skill-wise, Conor has a chance against Robbie but if Robbie hits Conor once, that fight is swinging to Robbie's side.

+TheWeasle17 so true. Conor has never been hit by someone who hits that hard before

+TheWeasle17 its way too soon to even think he has a chance. He hasnt even fought a lightweight yet brendan is so sure he'll beat lawler. look at hector lombard, he is the only top welterweight conor's height, and he is a big dude who cuts down to 170, conor is too small simple as that

+Ashley Andrade exactly he hasnt even been hit by a strong lightweight yet. I think he has a chance vs diaz cuz lets be honest nate is probably out of shape if he wants the fight at welter so he might gas, whereas conor has been training the whole time

juan vera True, that's why I said if Robbie hits Conor once, Conor will be in big trouble
