Making it biweekly would help, but the ideal scenario is promoting monthly release schedules more and more, especially for final arcs, as the authors get more time to focus and work on both their writing and drawing in order to deliver a more original, creative and high quality product in general
I feel like it's the mangakas themselves that choose to make it weekly, at this point it's part if their culture, it's hard to teach and old dog new tricks kind of thing, people like oda will probally keep being themselves untill they reitre look at the author of Berserk I forget his name but RIP
it is not always their choice, the publication is weekly, but they could not release a new chapter every week, but the editors pressure them into doing that@@mrmrjinx9960
@@mrmrjinx9960No its the magazine their in. Also as great as Miura was he certainly wasn't shy to extremely long breaks so i wouldn't really consider what he did a weekly series.
@@mrmrjinx9960honestly seeing how Gintama and Black Clover were able to move to the Quarter Yearly Jump Giga, I'd have to agree that it's likely that the Mangakas simply wish to continue this way even at the expense of their health.
Honestly same, fkck Cell Saga, Buu saga had all the best moments. Obviously, Frieza Saga is had to beat, but personally I love the Buu arc, he was terrifying.
Maybe controversial opinion, Buu arc was a much better end then the War arc in Naruto, in both overall entertainment, and relative to other arcs. Maybe Naruto would compare if Madara was the finally villain, but even then there were some lack luster battles beforehand. (Note: Not to say that the war didn't have great moments, because it did)
@@garlicamvs6235 Yeah, but people like Naruto over dragon ball, and really hate the Buu arc for some reason or another. Besides, the War Arc does have some good moments in between, so you're right, it's probably not that controversial because people dislike both, but at the same time I don't know if many people would agree with this.
That's why I am happy the biweekly and monthly formats are getting more popular with newer authors, Fujimoto takes a break every other week and I'm glad he does, Any literary works needs a lot of planning and thought and having to put out a chapter a week simply makes that much harder There is a reason some of the best works of literature take years and years to be made, the authors are constantly looking back and doing revisions and reworking certain elements so they can put out their best work, Rome wasn't built in a day and all that
@@ToweringPepsiManOPM might be on a bi-weekly schedule but tbh that might be out of necessity and doesn't really give ONE or Murata much break time considering how both of them are working on multiple projects at once (ONE with Versus and Murata with his own anime and the Eyeshield 21 anniversary oneshot)
The three kings saga was being set up to be the best arc in the series. The author was having health problems and couldn't finish it properly. The same reason get a hunter x hunter chapter every 6 months.
@@shreygupta8606wdym? It ended 2 years ago, that's not all that long ago.. And also what does the fact that it ended a while ago have to do with the ending being the shit show it was? (except for the fact that it ended)
I have done some digging into how Oda writes. I have faith One Piece will have a good ending, but I still think giving the authors more time to cook can’t hurt.
OP doesn't really take risks and just sticks to a formula that is pretty simple and consistent. I doubt it can end bad unless he actively tries to leave his comfort zone on some goofy shit.
@ryanrodriguez7664 You're right. He made a comment that everything in stories got more and more serious m. He wants to write something funny and creative even tho it(G5) would not be liked by fans
Part 6 - “Made in Heaven” arc isn’t the final arc in Shonen Jump Weekly, it was “The Terrorist from a Faraway Land” 2-parter in Part 7 which was before the Jump (heh) to Ultra Jump Monthly.
The buu saga slander will never cease to amaze me. Personally i think it was a really fun ride, with great moments, and a nice open ended ending. Plus we got great sayaman from this saga. Most cold super hero of all time. But I mean at the end of the day there is a reason we remember the buu saga over stuff like the general blue arc
General Blue arc is a short mini arc inside the actual saga of the Red Ribbon Army, which is the 3rd or so saga of the og DB, which is really underrated compared to DBZ. Of course not many will remember it. A more fair comparison is any DBZ major arc against the Buu saga, but then again that's what most people do and they choose any of the other 3 sagas over the Buu's.
I love Great Saiyaman but he is by no means cold. He's like the exact opposite of cold. Also the big problem with the Buu Saga is that it's just a collection of moments that Toriyama loosely strung together because Toei and Shueisha wanted one more arc. The moments themselves are good but the story connecting them just isn't that good
I think the anime buu saga is waaaaaaay better than the manga. The manga slander is legit warranted but the anime cooked especially in the dub, MY GOAT CHRIS SABAT WAS STRAIGHT COOKING WITH MAJIN VEGETA I AINT SEEN NO CHARACTER IN DRAGON BALL GIVE HARDER BARS THAN HIM.
I mean I wouldn't say all ending arcs are bad. The finale to Chainsaw Man part 1 was pretty good. Sure, it isn't over, but it was the finale in a weekly manga Bakuman's ending was pretty decent Assassination classroom in my opinion was raised from a high 8/10 to a 10/10 for me purely due to the ending But yeah unfortunately most are disappointing
I agree with assassination clasrooms ending being amazing but the end of the series the last few chapters before the final hurrah were rushed due to shonen jump the ending was very well done but it was meant to go on longer and it rushed to the final day too much still one of the best of all time tho
the animators forced bleach's author Tite Kubo to finish the manga quickly. HOWEVER, the animators themselves have requested Kubo to supervise the anime and he made a LOT OF REEEALLY GOOD CHANGES to the anime and bleach may even be off the original track of the manga
The animators cannot have that power. Do you mean magazine editors? What I heard was Kubo saying he was sick and even in hospital at one point so he wanted to take a break
I think the problem stems from payoff in a short consise way. Like with Bleach Kubo introduces 13 captains and their lieutenants making 26 new characters that all need payoff in the finale. He chose the route of giving each person a fight making it drag quite a bit towards the start, but with some editing you could make it a lot more clean. Clump together a lot of fights into a big group fight where everyone’s character arcs are concluding at the same time, combine Pernida and Gisile’s Mayrui fights together to make the fight have a more finality and weight (give Pernida the ability to make zombies with her nerves and still adapt and have her take over Hitsuguya)
Naruto really fumbled with Kaguya, Madara was such a great villain with great build up, and they retconned it for Kaguya, so Boruto could exist, the worst thing that happens to Naruto since 3rd Hokage That crap isn’t ninja anime anymore, it’s cyber ninja 2077, might aswell add a Gundam to it
Never forget how for the 30th anniversary edition, Tetsuo Hara went back and redrew nearly half of the latter Fist of the North Star chapters due to not having that drive during serialization
Honestly that might be why some mangaka are choosing to leave the weekly format for the final stretches of their series. Gin Tama moved from Shonen Jump to Jump Giga to get around 3-4 months time per chapter but when even THAT wasn't enough time (the mangaka for the series is notoriously bad with deadlines) they made a brand new app where the series was updated irregularly. And now similarly Black Clover has moved to Jump Giga likely for the same reason. I hope that more mangaka will attempted to make this change because the weekly schedule is abysmal for their health and doesn't give any flex spots.
Most of my favourite manga is monthly, it pains me because it means I have to wait 6-8 months for each volume But each volume fucking slaps, so it's worth it honestly
What is important in manga is not only good drawing and story, but also skillful spatial awareness, pauses, realism and movement. Akira Toriyama of Dragon Ball fame has completely mastered all of these things. Well, he grew tired of his weekly serialization and began to dislike drawing. His early drawings revolutionized manga, as did those of Osamu Tezuka and Katsuhiro Otomo.
This is why the best manga is jojo's bizarre adventure part 7 steel ball run the ending was sad but good as well R.I.P Gyro zeppeli the best character ever
It’s because by the end, the authors are usually rushed to wrap the series up so Shonen Jump can bring a new series in. That’s what happened with Tite Kubo, the author of Bleach.
Thats because most weekly manga simply dont have the time to seriously lay out ending plans once the manga gets popular. Most of the time once a mangaka thinks they can continue for a while, they overbuild their world and almost procrastinate an ending
It makes Haikyuu even more of a rarity in the industry because that manga never got bad, and every arc skyrocketed in quality one after the other. The last arc being a freacking beautiful conclusion to the series
As far as i remember soul eater was monthly and still has an ending often listed on worst manga endings lists. And i bet if i search i find as much bad endings in monthly releases as in weekly endings. Im all for giving the authors more time but i do not think that would let every one write better endings. Endings are simply one of the hartdest parts of a story and this is the reason why it often feels that bad. The end has to answer most of the open questions and satisfy the build up hype thats simply a hart task.
The only reason JJK works is because Gege pretty much planned out what he was foing to do ahead of time. He has also taken quote a few hiatuses, and has had to go back to clean up art because of the weekly schedule.
So, when your full fledged story can be axed down at any minute, you have to keep things interesting. And although starting interesting stories is pretty easy... Warping them up with literally a week of planning... Can't be done
It's easy to make a premise, it's hard to make an ending. Conversely, if you have a strong beginning and end planned out from the beginning, some of the middle parts are weaker. Story writing is rough
To be fair, the final arc for Bleach had way too many Retcons just introduced in a single f***ing arc... And while Naruto's final arc was a chunk, it also fixed up a lot of plot holes and gave a lot of missing lore... For Bleach and DBZ, it felt like those series were better off ending sooner... they felt like they were dragged out... so I feel it's not really fair to use them as standards... Also, it should be noted that endings are often hard...
What the hell you mean weekly manga isnt sustainable? Weekly manga has been a thing for like 60 years if not longer and the vast majority of top tier manga was weekly. It wasn't the weekly aspect that made those ending ass, it was the creator and/or the publishing company not wanting to end it sooner until they were forced to end it in a 4 chapter wrap up.
The Promised Neverland ending was straight up rushed and came out of nowhere and Dr.Stone ending raises a lot of more questions rather than answering it (which was the main point of the story -to answer questions you dont know with science-)
It’s going to be so much harder for Ida because the hype for one piece is random and stupid the hype of gear 5 died down in minutes so the ending is going to be hyped to much and no one will like it
No Shonen Jump Ending got me more angry than the ending to Katekyo Hitman Reborn. Straight up undid everything that happened in the series (well not literally, but that's how it felt)
I feel like it would be better if Shonen just made them monthly releases so they could properly draw and plan everything out. Comic fans do that, they're doing fine
I'd say Narutos ending was good. Kaguya was a downgrade, which seems a fishy choice. As for the whole war arc, there WERE some subjectivly meh moment during the initial days, which was quite rough ngl. But the finale of the series in the valley of the end was perfectly done to end the series on the final volume. Still one thing stands that Boruto sucks, and there is a high chance Kishimoto was forced to come up with something like the Kaguya plot twist for the magazine to keep pumping money with a sequel.
The final valley was good, but pretty much all of the war arc was either bad or just boring. Outside of Madara's entrance, Kakashi Vs Obito and then the final battle of Naruto and Sasuke. I can't think of any other point I was entertained and not just begging for it to end
@@Mooinator3000 Six Paths of Obito vs Naruto and gang and war after that was pretty good as well, which is also majority of the arc. After that, Kaguya wasn't a good villain, but to say the fight wasn't entertaining would be kind of disingenuous.
@@UNKNOWNL3G3ND I didn't find any enjoyment at any point when it was fighting the ten tails or when either Obito or Madara became jinchuriki, it was just slow and none of it was the type of fights that I had come to like in Naruto. As well as that, I didn't like that instead of giving moments to the side cast that had come up alongside Naruto, it was just focusing on him, Sasuke and then the past Hokage. I know that's controversial, but I'd rather see people we were watching grow have moments than people who were already dead.
If a mangaka has to suffer severe health risks to get a chapter once a week it’s simply not worth it I’d and many others would be totally fine and even encourage a switch to biweekly or monthly release no matter how good the story it is not worth it if the creators have to suffer
On the flip side if your ass releases three 12 page chapters a year it doesn't matter how good it is to the people waiting for it. Nothing can live up to the hype at that point because people expect greatness.
Am I the only person who enjoyed the three kings arc from Yu Yu hakusho? I watched Yu Yu hakusho completely blind, never hearing or seeing anything from other than toguro, and I thought the entire thing was great including the stuff from the three kings arc. And the last scene at the beach was probably the best way to end the series. It’s definitely not bad enough to make it part of the worst endings to an anime list.
Gintama is a very special case where even after moving to a quarter-yearly schedule, the fucking Gorilla STILL couldn't make his deadline and has to switch to a brand new app just so he could have an irregular release. Sorachi really is built different
Bleach was never bad. The ending itself wasn't even bad. Only the pacing got cut short and Kubo had to rush the conclusion of the last 20 chapters. The idea behind Yhwach's defeat makes sense on retrospective, specially after knowing all parties involved.
I’ll never get over how rushed and out of place TG:Re ending felt. Should’ve been a tragedy the whole way to the end for Kaneki. That was kinda the whole point
"if your favorite manga is normally monthly" SBR was likely one of his favorite manga, and it was published monthly. And like the other reply said, JoJo was WSJ before moving to monthly
Haikyuu has one of the best endings I have ever seen, the fact that the final arc is literally going to show that the whole Karasuno team couldn’t accomplish their goals as a unit, and to reach his goals Hinata literally had to leave everything, eat, think, breathe volleyball and then travel the world to actually get to have an opportunity really makes it one of the best endings ever.
Yeah haikyuu ending is amazing, there are also other good ednings in the magazine like ass class and dr stone, but the other mayority of shows in the shonnen jump end like shit 😂
The reason why the weekly manga ends is because of declining popularity, thus the ending will always be rough. Otherwise the show will continue till Jesus comes for the 2nd time.
It's currently happening to MHA and JJK too. While I've been enjoying both a decent amount, the quality drop off is undeniable. Although I'm sure MHA will stick the landing, the beginning of the final arc and the arc preceeding it were kinda rough.
Yu Yu doesn’t really count. Togashi was like “okay fuck you then Jump” and ended it early on his terms. They were trying to get him to write a different type of story than he wanted to tell
Buu saga started off amazing Gohan's slice of life which many found enjoyable Gohan's spotlight Another world tournament The existence of fusions Gotenks Ultimate gohan Majin vegeta Ss3 Goku Goku and vegeta rematch Final atonement (vegeta blowing up) Buu being split Vegito But there was just too much stuff going on And they just used good ol'Spirit bomb again So much hype in the middle yet it died down very quickly
