Hadley Fraser in the movie really hits on this point, but it's clear that the officer "loud hailer" hates all of this. He doesn't want to kill these 'rich young boy' revolutionaries (who may be his social peers) or have his soldiers hurt. He wants them to stop playing their deadly game before he has to stop them.
@@ethanhalling The Lesbian Poet is a character from the new version of Les Misérables. She's mentionned on the score and has two lines : "They're getting ready to attack" and "Troops behind them ! Fitfty men or more !". She's the only lady fighting on the last attack of the barricade and also, one of the last to die. You can spot her on the very left of the stage (on the barricade). She's dying at 3:04. In this production, she's played by Georgie Lovatt.
