they have to be so "strong" and have a fatal weakness, because some people (including directors recently) can't write an invincible enemy properly. chalk it up to the audience wanting humanity number one over the monsters because they'd be bummed if the human heroes lose against the monsters.

Think of the Monsters like a human body. The Queen was the brain while her guards was the skull, and her workers were the central nervous system. Basically, the guards kept any and all threats from reaching the Queen as the workers performed their commands to attack, search, and feed. The Queen, being the brain, issued the commands to her workers and guards. But when she died, everyone else just shut down. Because if there was no brain to give the commands, what would give the workers and guards directions.

Hive mind that worked like a sophisticated rc car they killed the controller so while the cars still had full battery they have no signal to tell them to move
