This franchise understands the importance of the pre-game show. This should be the standard across the league. I don't care who you root for, you can't deny how insane this intro is.

This is a culture like no other in the NHL, maybe professional sports as a whole. As a Canes fan I can honestly say I'm glad we didn't have to play them in the SCF and hope we never do. I couldn't imagine having to root against this.

While not as theatrical as the Los Vegas playoff pre-game show, Montreal with their torch invoking their long history can be just as hype / emotional, but in a different way.

@@greg33770Stop, it’s cringy good fun! It grows on ya and does hype big time! NHL needs a modern touch, it should be the second most supported sport after the NFL, instead NBA usually pulls ahead. Playing to the teams names, history and the city they’re based at is awesome! BTW notice Vegas “golden Knights?” It’s a play on taking a risk and striking it rich in Vegas aka a golden night!

Bit of history: the Panthers spotted a rat in their locker room prior to their '95 home opener, and Scott Mellanby killed it. That same night, he scored two goals. John Vanbiesbrouck quipped after the game that while Scott hadn't scored a hat trick, he had scored a rat trick, word got around, and a tradition was born.

If this team wins the Stanley Cup, I wonder if the experience of attending a game at T-Mobile Arena will become more about hockey, and less about this insipid, ludicrous insanity. It's obvious that this organization does not see its fans as terribly sophisticated or especially interested in the sport of hockey, otherwise all of this would not only be unnecessary, it would be ridiculed.
