With the dark sun shades in all of their large back windows they always looked to be closed so when I was getting my mail at the post office I never thought of going in. Sad that they are gone. 🙁
yes sad when stores close in your area. that looks like fun going around on your cart viewing new places in your town. you are doing great. excercise and eating right. always harder for us 50 and older. love your channel
Maybe check out property registrations with town hall & see if you can dig anything up surrounding the movie theatre, after all i would think itd be public records, if anything itd make for a really cool video...Ive got a gut feeling that sooner than later youre gonna have personal interest it...your passion and knowledge anything movie & pop culture combined with that art deco beauty, imo the possibilities are endless...the planets are aligning man
Sign of the times. We’re losing so many businesses right, including my own. 😔 A high rate are restaurants. I owned a martial arts school/gym and from covid to inflation it just couldn’t sustain after 10 years. Signs of the times and what’s to come.
Oh, I’m so sorry to hear that, my son is really into MMA. He started with boxing when he was in high school. That’s so sad because he’s always thought about opening his own gym in the future. We need more third places 😢
@@Commonsenseisnotcommon8Hey it happens! I took the risks. Luckily I'll be alright and land on my feet. I feel for those out there who don't! I get bummed anytime I drive by a closed business cause I just know ho how much of their life went into it. But yeah no one could predict the wat things were gonna be! 😅
Just did a quick google on the Theater. “According to town officials who spoke on the condition of anonymity and documents obtained by Business Insider, AMC has kept the Celebration theater empty for close to a decade because it's cheaper to take the loss on the theater than to pay staff and operate it.Apr 5, 2018” Hard to believe that one. Maybe they should sell it to Cinergy?
I read that too, however I think the real reason is the residents didn't want downtown Cele turning into the loop......the groups of kids etc that would end up in Cele at the theaters would not be what the residents want.....I remember going there when it was open and it was too packed with people.
Sad to see the Cornerstone Market gone. I used to frequent the Celebration Post Office. While I lived in Florida. I enjoyed the Cornerstone Market. I also always liked the Celebration Town Tavern. Missing Downtown Celebration, Thanks for the video!
I’m sure someone has suggested this, but if they haven’t, I highly recommend couch to 5K program to progress in your running. It helped me run three half marathons.
That is too bad Cornerstone is closing. Last time we went to Disney World we took a morning to walk around Celebration and had breakfast there. Their breakfast sandwiches and pastries were 1000% better than the overpriced junk from Starbucks - And the iced coffee I had was great as well. I also recall years ago there was another small market across the street (Goodings) and that closed as well. I get Celebration is surrounded by massive commerce and all, but it is still a small town and residents need to support these smaller businesses.
Many of those theaters are used for community events or turned into something else. I foresee the day when a real movie theater is just a memory. I can count on my hand what we have left where I live, and one is a cinplex/Imax. One theater was suppose to convert to a movie theater/ restaurant, I don't think it ever happened.
When we visit annually from Cleveland, we would stop in at Cornerstone for a casual breakfast sandwich, coffee/juice and get dessert to go for later that day on our non-park days. The folks that worked there were very nice.
We own a 2nd home in Celebration. One day last fall, a small downtown business owner, was telling me all the costs. You are almost spot on. I'm not sure how any boutique-y type of business, can keep its doors open here.
If they lower rent they’d lose a lot of money, a lot of commercial properties I own you can’t lower the cost nowadays since inflation and prices I and most commercial land owners would lose money making it too low. It’s hard for small business to operate now when commercial real estate is very expensive due to high demand low supply
@@NicEeEe843 but wouldn't leaving it empty be worse? I understand maintenance, mortgage, and taxes. but some of theses small spots charge 20k 30k a month. I see why so many close.
I used to work at the Cornerstone. I was also in the movie for a Christmas Karen, I do have info on what's going on. I just didn't know when the store was closing.
I lived outside of Orlando, between Orlando, Apopka, and Kissimmee, in 1978-79. Celebration came in after. Had to look it up. It's always hard to see any small business leave.
Lots of places closing around me because of having to raise their rates for what they sell and then it prices people out and then the business closes. It’s insane and sad.
Running tip: i would suggest trying to run on softer ground to start, dirt trail or even laps around a soccer/ football field. Running on concrete is higher impact and more of a toll on your joints. After a while you can mix it up just so your body gets used to it.
It's surprising that place like Cornerstone could not thrive in a town like Celebration. I would have thought there was plenty of patrons to support it! 😮 😀
I’ve been saying that, for the last few months, he would be the perfect owner. And there are plenty of people that would go see classic movies especially now that it’s harder to find old movies playing online.
For as much as Celebration tries to come off as an upscale, "boutique" town, there are little details where they drop the ball. Leaf/mulch litter on the sidewalks and in the streets. Plus a non-aggressive town leadership in terms of getting the place up to 100% business occupancy (like getting the movie theater up and running). Just those two things -- keep the streets & sidewalks clean and all the storefronts alive -- can make a world of difference for residents and visitors.
Thank you for your videos you inspired me to start working out on my treadmill at 60. I am following you on instagram and here. In fact I went back and watched every video and now at 8/2021 still 2+ years to go!
My husband and I weee just in Orlando for runDisney and made a point of coming to see Celebration thanks to your videos. We looked for you, but alas, you weren’t there. Very cute little town :)
I was following a group on social media that tried very hard to open the theater again. One side was going to be stage performances and the other a theater. Unfortunately, the effort failed. That was a nice deli, had lunch there while exploring Celebration. Our favorite is Celebration Tavern and the Diner. We always go there when visiting Disney.
I just love seeing the "STORYBOOK " houses in your area . Just beautiful area.. Looks like fancy houses from movies or could be used as fancy houses in movies. My favorite is the one who does every holiday decorating outside..I , too am one of those women who decorate for everything. ! Easter and St Patricks day being so close together is going to cause me a hurried frenzy just to get my decos up after March 17th ...ugh. I have tons of Easter decorations and my little grandchildren love seeing my collection. Too bad, they are all still little and can't be much help
wow, I was just looking at apartments in celebration right before I clicked on your video. And I was thinking it would be great to live downtown because I don’t drive a car just ride my bike everywhere but now I definitely don’t wanna move there. I don’t wanna go to a Publix to get my groceries. It would’ve been perfect just to go downstairs. Walk a couple blocks and get groceries. shame on celebration. They were one of the first walkable communities and they are going to ruin it with all this. They really need to incentivize more grocery stores and every day amenities. The theater too, Not everybody wants to drive to go somewhere. 🙄😫
Bought my first air fryer today. You inspired me. I eat a lot of fish and veggies.. being diabetic, and having other health issues. I'm excited to try it out tomorrow. 😊
We visited the other week as a direct result of this very channel. We enjoyed a nice breakfast at the Market St Dinner, loved the retro memorabilia in there and the food was pretty darned good.
I would say the main reason that theater is still closed is simply parking .....to open that type of business, pay a lease on the building, fill a concession stand with all types of food , pay all the utilities, pay wages for employees, pay to have the movies......you would need lots of ticket sales to cover all of that .....where would all those customer park .......every video you see about the celebration area the topic of lack of parking always comes up........I would even go as far to say that problem will keep all new business from opening on main street.
Apparently the theatre is still closed because AMC has the lease and refuses to let anyone else lease it from them. Yet, they keep renewing their lease
Morning Adam 🌞😊 it's good to see around the area and it's sad that the theater is still closed. You said building torn down. Thanks for sharing. I eat a bagel bacon 🥓 and egg 🥚 and cheese sandwich most of the time not everyday, but it's good make it myself at home. You take care.😎✌️📸
Hi Adam, will have to finish watching this tomorrow as it is almost 1am.Enjoyed shopping at Publix when we were in Florida, couldn’t believe the range very different to Australia.
Dang, that’s really sad to hear. My wife and I have been there a couple of times when visiting and really enjoyed their breakfast items and sub sandwiches. Definitely a loss for downtown celebration. 😔
That theater is such an amazing place, it would be worth the price hike to have an amazing cinematic adventure It is on my bucket list t visit celebration, I would soooo excited to see you move there and now permanently, they’re my favorite videos to watch . I really wish they would clean the sidewalks more 🤨 ❤fromX
Ive never liked Starbucks & wont go there; the only places with worse coffee are McDonald's & Panera. And while Publix is a clean, reliable place to shop, their prices have always been high & lately are ridiculous. I already get my veggies way cheaper at a farmers market & found a place with better prices on some meats that are still quality. Id love to have an alternative like that market available to me.
One day we’re going to make it to celebration it’s kind of funny I’ve got you going on the tv and my phone so I can comment on your video. I always look forward to your videos. Great content keep it coming. We will be down on Friday maybe I’ll see you in the parks.
The closing stores are just a result of the people who will spend an exorbitant amount to live in an area like Celebration. But yet they will drive their car to someplace else to save a couple of dollars. Then they complain when the nice little stores downtown close and defeat the purpose of living in a quaint area like Celebration. Plus the landlords of the businesses price themselves right out of business. It's usually a chain reaction.
Beautiful Sunday at planet perk a little coffee shop having a hot latte watching Adam the woo , in the summer i like going back to watching your back roads an small out of the way towns videos ,which is how i got into watching you .
I paused and caught your "Random Moments" on Insta. Some wild times !! And you know Tom Green, another guy who got me through lockdowns. Hard to believe we're hitting the 4 year anniversary of the first lockdown we had here in Prague,CZ
Adam, I know exactly what you mean about feeling better. I have anxiety sometimes but it's all but gone away since I've started working out regularly and eating better. It really is a natural anti-depressant.
For those whose day is incomplete without hearing it: That's going to do it for today, I'll see you in the next video, the vlog is...I can't believe the Cornerstone Market closed, I'm going to miss that place...over.
Adam, look up a recipe on how to roast chick peas in the oven. Dry them off, a little olive oil and whatever seasoning you like and bake. They make a good crunchy snack.
I remember that store called Goodings! When we came to visit my brother who had moved from NY to Altamonte Springs at the time, that was the grocery store near his neighborhood. We thought it was fancy.
Greetings from Canada 🇨🇦 That video recorder looks very similar to the one we had approximately 33 years ago. We bought the recorder when we had our son.
The new Publix market, upcoming Wawa and other closer businesses are probably the reason your market downtown closed. It has been the same in every town.
@TheDailyWoo I am also trying to drop some pounds and get fit, and I find your journey an inspiration, seeing your purchases today I've always wondered, What do chick peas taste like?
Oh wow, that’s too bad. When I was there last month, and right before I talked to you I went into the Deli for a water. They only had one water in the cooler and their food selection was very limited.
It's all about the rent. A mom and pop store can't turn a profit if the rent is too high. It can if the rent is low enough. Of course, a tenant can be driven away with a rent increase when the lease is up for renewal. I'll bet a dollar that the Cornerstone store stays unoccupied for at least six months.
This is not good news. I planned my first Celebration trip this year, probably during the Christmas celebration time (so not soon), but I planned on seeing as much as I could from the stuff I've seen in video. Though not a top spot, Cornerstone Market was definitely a place to go. Thank you for documenting it
These little neighborhood markets are so nice and easy to drop in an grab missing ingredients without the extra trek to the grocery store. We have one in our neighborhood and fear the day it closes. They have already tried selling once and it fell through.
When I was on my weight loss journey, I ate lean proteins like ground turkey, chicken breasts, and lean steaks like sirloin. I also added lentils, quinoa, and salmon to my diet as well as almonds. Instead of sodas, I tried juice and tea.
The movie theater might be a bit of an investment but that recently vacated Arby's location might be a good place for Adam's Ribs(nod to the MASH episode) or Adam's Burgers. I'd definitely eat there.
