Thank you for doing this with EVGA, ever since XFX stopped making nVidia cards back in the day, I've only had EVGA gfx cards in my system, they will be missed...
What a beautiful tribute and sendoff for EVGA. I feel that they escaped this latest round of NVIDIA BS at just the right time. Excellent journalism and documentary work as always, GN!
@@GamersNexus Can get a "RIP EVGA" shirt instead... this year's disapointment t-shirt design is kinda meh in the front... I own the 2020/2021 ones and I just want something for 2022.
At first I thought maybe this will hurt NVIDIA and change some of their direction but ultimately most NVIDIA consumers don't care or even know about the drama for them it's a product with a release date, some random score chart they googled, a price and that's about it.
@@Nathan-gj8ch I guess we will mourn the loss of all the future great cards that will never happen while the plebs get what nvidia force feeds them. I loved my Geforce 1070Ti FTW2 card, it was a champ. Picked up a Merc 6900xt this go around to replace it but not sure what to do next time. EVGA will be missed by a lot of us.
@@nemesis1588 Unless the repair center is only for GPU (I highly doubt it), I don't see why it would go away. Motherboard can need repair too. However the GPU team of the repair center, yeah...
@@ProjectoD77 i suspect that the gpu repair team will stay around for a bit to honor the warranties and whatever but ya itll probably be shut down not too far in the future
As a Taiwanese, I still remember when my 970 had some weird unexplained power-related issues, and EVGA had me send over the entire PC and even had the engineers explain to me what were the possible causes *over phone*. It was extremely impressive. I'm just really sad now that my 3080 will be the last card I have from them.
I have had an EVGA 770, 780, 1080 (which died and they replaced) and 3080. It is a little disappointing that they are leaving the gpu market but I understand their reasons.
@@Deltaworks23 Still on my GTX 690 here, it obviously cannot handle the newest titles but it still gave me more than playable base settings on some @1080p. I would have had a new build up and running two years back but the nonsense coming out of nvidia has put me right off.
@@Deltaworks23 I really don't understand why EVGA has, at least publicly, implied they will never work with any other graphics than Nvidia chips. AMD would let them do anything and everything short of an 8x Crossfire closed-loop LN2-cooled card, and, honestly, AMD might even allow that kind of insanity if only for the world record, legal liabilities included. To put this into perspective, I've never owned any EVGA products, but still this whole situation of them basically being "gone forever" from the PC graphics market bothers me.
I still have a EVGA 1070 running quite well. One of the fans have a slight bearing failure making nose at times but easy enough to fix. Planning to do a custom 3D printed shroud design and mount 2x 120mm Arctic P12s on it.
What an inspiring and bittersweet look behind the scenes at a passionate team showing what dedication to their craft is all about. Cheers to your team for putting this together.
This is probably one of the best pieces of content GN has ever created. I've never been so invested in following through a story like this. It was very well written and put together. I do hope that EVGA goes on to make amazing products and refining their current lineup now.
I am so happy this is documented, because this is the same reason XFX left nvidia as well. I mean, it's a different context, but the bottom line is the same of nvidia being assholes and crybabies.
I am very happy GN exists and has the resources to make content like this. Even like two years ago (human malware not withstanding) I don't think it would be possible, or maybe it would be harder. Either way, I'm happily using my GN pint glass right now.
EVGA is the reason why I go Nvidia for GPUs. I haven't even been comparing their lineup against other manufacturers. I trusted EVGA, loved the performance from their products, so I've never bothered looking elsewhere for a GPU. Looking online at other people's rigs, I noticed EVGA to be a dominant brand when it came to GPUs. Nvidia screwed the pooch.
I am absolutely blown away by how well you and your team have covered EVGA leaving the GPU industry. Kudos to everyone on your end and shout out to the talented folk at EVGA, especially their GPU and repair divisions!
Wow! Thanks so much for the huge donation. We'll keep covering companies like this -- good and bad -- but it was nice to have a good one to cover this time!
absolutely, evga got what they deserved by gn. you can clearly see the nerration is more in the background than usual and especially steve lets the story of evga, the ppl of evga into middle of that ... hmm, i would actually call it a documentary series.
@@GamersNexus It's incredible what can be achieved when you put your heart into it, as a fellow (still extremely small and young) creator, I can tell you it'll make a greater difference in the near future. Keep up the good work guys!
@@GamersNexus It's incredible ! What next ? A Netflix documentary about the GPU industry ??? This video is amazing and depressing at the same time lol. The industry really lost something special with EVGA leaving. These guys are the best of the best!
Absolutely right. I’ve only been buying EVGA cards for over a dozen years now because of their quality, performance and how they stand behind everything they make. When I finally buy a 4090, it’s going to be weird for it not to be from EVGA
@@999adam999 Because NVIDIA are absolutely relentless with how they treat and strongarm their AIB partners. EVGA basically said they have been bullied, not listened to and even outright lied to for so many years they just don't have the willpower to continue working with them. In that nature, the GPU market for them was apparently not even that profitable, so they just peaced out for good.
@@Silverhazey_ But AMD is also in the business. EVGA could have continued with AMD and Intel. When Linus Torvalds said NVidia is the worst company to work with I knew NVidia 100% are a bunch of c***s. Linux team doesn't like NVidia at all, now EVGA has said it openly and ffs even Apple hates NVidia XD The moment AMD destroys a future genenration of NVidia cards NVidia could be done and dusted from the market. EA and NVidia should get married to be honest.
This was an absolutely incredible bittersweet sendoff. Big ups to EVGA for even allowing the GN team the opportunity to document these trade secrets and to the GN team for their trademark professionalism and honest journalism. I put my trust in EVGA as a die-hard lifelong GPU customer of theirs, and after all these documentaries, I'm happy to see concrete and irrefutable proof that my faith wasn't misplaced. This series of videos had some serious love poured into them. It's really hard to put into words. We're losing one of the good ones, the few that are left. Again, thanks GN team for all the work yall put in. I'm glad you were able to bring this part of history to us. :)
@@GamersNexusthis is one of the best vids on the channel in my opinion the evga team did a great job of welcoming and explaining to you guys and you guys covered everything really well and seeing biso get his card back was great
really enjoyed this report... esp as EVGA is more uncommon in Europe and it happens I just got a better deal on a used FTW3 while originally looking (just) for mid-tier Asus TUF or MSI Gaming X cards
Such a shame to see a passionate, talented team who really care about what they're doing being disbanded... You can really feel the emotion and the tension in this, one last hurrah for EVGA and the team.
@@rymns The only Nvidia card I ever personally used in a gaming PC was a 1060. I was so underwhelmed that got a Vega 56. I ran that card so hard that It died on me. I got a 5600xt and haven't looked back. Best GPU I've ever used to date. I know that there are better GPUs out there, but I can't afford them right now nor do I game hard enough on desktop to justify the purchase.
I teared up watching this, the end of an era. My first GPU that got me into the PC building hobby was an EVGA GTS 250, my current GPU EVGA 3070 Ti FTW3. I stayed a loyal customer throughout those years, that's how great of a GPU brand they were.
This was inspiring and soul crushing at all the same time. What a team, what a company and what an example of how NVidia failed its core customer group by basically pushing a great partner out of the space
Looks like nVidia's end goal is going to try the route that eventually killed 3dfx, making your own boards (reference boards) and screwing the board partners.
@@AndrewTJackson At this point I'd consider Nvidia the Apple of gpu's. Good products for completely bullshit rates and terrible anti-consumer practices.
a little bittersweet seeing that whole repair crew do such intricate, diligent work knowing they're still eventually losing that job...i've worked in manufacturing my whole life across metalworking, electronics and tech, and it's obvious to me that they performed their tasks with dignity...job security be damned, they can't help themselves but pursue excellence as usual, GN shows them the respect they deserve here, kudos to you guys and especially to the EVGA people who clearly just enjoyed doing the hard work
this was absolutely nuts - 30 minute turnaround time in the repair shop to do something i didn't even know was possible when i woke up today. i hope all these peoples' talents continue to be used well wherever they end up.
@@rkan2 that may be the case, but, considering their lack of resources (not in terms of equipment, but on firmware), what they did was really impressive.
Its so crazy they finished the repair in thirty minutes... Insane. And the bromance between biso and kp was great, you can tell they have a lot of respect for each other's OC talent
Feels more like a 'Next Chapter' for these EVGA guys rather than a farewell. All of these guys will be doing bigger better things in the very near future
@@leeloodog RIGHT ON! I myself am running an a770. It had its hiccups, but driver updates have significantly improved the beginning issues, frankly a much faster turnaround than I ever could have expected. I was expecting 2 years minimum to see the level of improvement I'm seeing now. I hope they revive the a780, but it's looking like that for sure won't happen
The only thing better than you guys making a video like this is the fact that you present it to us on a free platform with such quality and effort. This is why I continue to be a customer to your store because I want to contribute back to you in some way to show you my appreciation and support. We are blessed to have you and your team in this community. Thank you!
@ProVishGaming what a terrible take on this. I think you need to adjust what is expected from people. Also, youtube has been slowly eroding people's ability to make money on the platform.
@@ProVishGaming That's kind of like saying "bro, it's their job to make good food. They already make a lot of money from other customers. No need for you to pay for the sandwich" - watching (for free) is the best way to support us, but the best way to support our ability to make expensive videos like this is more direct. Not everyone needs to directly support, of course; however, I think we've proven that we reinvest it all back into what we do publicly.
GN reminding us once again what actual journalism and investigative reporting looks like while mainstream media continues to consistently flop. You guys are the best. Thank you for your deep dives into an industry that doesn't get a lot of behind the scenes viewing and a dedication to truth above all else, good or bad.
Yes, we are witnessing the end of an era here... And where stuff will never be at this level again... It is too costly and easy to chuck it and not worth it. This is like seeing the best of Toyota in the 90s, before they went all econobox and died off. This overclocking is what have pushed engineering forward for EVGA and raised the bar for the partners out there, now they have no serious rival to beat.
When you can sell a dead gpu for twice (or more) the price when you bought it brand new. You know they can revive it. I am talking about rx 400 500 during 2020 2021
I almost never comment on videos. Compelled to comment on this one because this is absolutely incredible 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 I would love to see far more of this type of content from GN. Honestly amazing work. The industry has lost a true titan and innovator in EVGA
I'm going to stop halfway to tell you that you've made an excellent documentary, and thank you for it. In my eyes, this isn't a regular youtube video, tech or otherwise; this is a bonafide documentary about the last days of EVGA, and it's quite emotional. You did a great job getting the tension across.
I love this video! Also Biso is HILARIOUS! I never know when he actually doesn't understand what's going on and when he's deliberately messing with you guys. Incredible talent with an incredible personality. Also that repair center is AMAZING! Reballing GPUs is no joke, just ask Rossmann. Even with the best equipment you can get it's very tricky. Maybe EVGA opens up a side business repairing GPUs for other manufacturers lol.
I think it would have been a perfect ending to a full documentary, if it included how EVGA got involved with Nvidia, & EVGA's success in making some of the best video cards on the market, & their falling out between the two companies.
I have been an EVGA customer since 2001. They have always been my go to company for video cards and motherboards. The love, care and passion seen by both the engineering and repair teams is truly something special. You just don’t often see this sort of care put into products by large companies anymore. This is a truly amazing video and perspective on the awesome work that EVGA has done, and will do into their future as a company. It is certainly bittersweet to see their GPU division disband but I hope that their other divisions will continue to uphold this level of care into the products they provide. From a single customer, I thank you EVGA for supporting my gaming builds for all these years.
The sheer amount of care everyone clearly shows through the camera lens leaves me melancholy to say goodbye to EVGA's amazing GPU team. I am elated to have been a proud customer of their 30 series cards, and happy for their leadership to not have to deal with Nvidia's meddling again. Thank you for making this documentary so this amazing team's history and legacy can be saved for prosperity!
Goodbye sweet prince... Thank you EVGA for being the first card I ever owned and kickstarting my gaming journey over 15 years ago. You will ever so dearly missed but never ever forgotten. And thank you Steve and the other GN team members for filming this bittersweet sendoff series.

And such a big thanks to EVGA not only for the access but for just not settling and striving for amazing. Such an amazing group of people, was amazing to watch them all work. Just WOW.
Outstanding! What a result! That tour of the repair centre had me in awe. I've done many board level repairs and BGA reworks like this but to rework that core onto a fresh board, fully tested with custom tooling and software in that timeframe is nothing short of incredible. Truly god tier skills and experience! You will be missed EVGA and thank you GN!
This is incredibly impressive. The precision required to work on boards like this is hard to overstate. These folks are true experts and I wish that I could still buy a card that they oversaw the development of. I'd have been an EVGA customer for life after this.
This was very emotional to watch. Glad the EVGA group was able to leave with a bang! A big thank you to everyone at Gamers Nexus for sharing this with us!
My first ever self-selected card was an EVGA. I'm sitting next to my EVGA 3090Ti FT3 Hybrid now and knowing that I'll be running that until it dies, and then mounting it on my wall in a position of honor. I'll miss you EVGA, but I'll never forget you.
@@jeffzebert4982 the problem is there's no margin where that can happen today. Companies have to make some money so they can exist. They cannot operate at a loss.

You're saying that, moving forward, computer chips are going to become more and more expensive from now on. Well, then... I hope that GPU manufacturers can sustain themselves on the ultra-wealthy elite: the likes of movie stars, rock stars, star athletes, and business moguls.
@@jeffzebert4982 the whole PC market has changed. There was a time when if you wanted connectivity you had to have a PC. That's no longer the case today. So a vast segment of the market has moved on to mobile devices. They don't need a PC and they don't want a PC. But they're the same people that bought all the low and midrange stuff. So those markets are gone now. No one is going to cater to that crowd. Because it ain't a crowd anymore. So all that leaves is the high end high margin hardware. Truly some amazing techniques, hardware, technology, and engineering put into EVGA and most likely other board partners for products like these.
EVGA will always have a place in my heart. Thank you for showing behind the scene things that we never knew of but we experienced first hand when something went wrong. Back a couple of years ago, my 3090 ftw3 blew up but evga had such a quick turn around to get the card back into my hands. I always wondered how they did that so quickly.

Dang, it's like watching artists: the engineers, the repair experts, the overclockers. I really wish them all the best and hope EVGA's future is bright.
This is equal parts heart-breaking, inspiring, and phenomenal. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't crying a bit watching the last hurrah of an industry legend leaving its mark on the world. Endless love, encouragement and support to the EVGA GPU team, and wishing them all the best in their future endeavors.
From a production and writing standpoint, you and your team has perfected the narrative story. I was stressed when the first PCB blew up, forlorn when the GPU failed, giddy when the new card worked, and laughing with delight when the card broke records through the beauty of brute force and an amazingly efficient, dedicated team. Well done!
This is easily my favorite content GN has ever done, Biso is a dope personality that worked so well on camera. I wish we could see more content like this regularly.
We can't thank you guys enough for this work of love. EVGA is one of the few brands I've stayed loyal to, and it's because of this engineering team and their overall enthusiasm to build *great* products. I hope to continue supporting them and wish the absolute best for these guys. Thank you, EVGA. Thank you, GN.
As a knifemaker, seeing him lap the parts really rings the same tune as my work. its hard to get an edge perfectly straight. A perfect polish achieved by hard work and skill is even more valuable now that it is not only pretty but increasing technological abilities.
This was phenomenal. I was glued to my seat the entire video. Amazing pacing, spotless overall editing and a great story coming together on EVGA's side. Their team(work) was inspiring and I have no doubt that this team was one of, if not more likely, the best in the industry. Thanks to all involved. And thanks for immortalizing this glorious sendoff. On another note, I am dismayed that NV treats their partners so poorly that a team as passionate as this is effectively forced out of their business. I have no idea if there even is any chance of this changing, since NV is very much a one man show with a rather stubborn leader. GPU industry really is at a low point these days.
This was the best show I've ever seen on GN community! This is what I need, heartbreaking moments, well composed. I'm done for this year, this will be hard to jump over (and I'm talking about here GN and EVGA) Nice job!
Besided the intel fab tours that Linus did, this (as a hardware geek) has to be one of THE MOST interesting and cool videos/documentaries I've ever watched! Huge probs to the GN team for making this incredible behind the scenes tour of what was truly something special when it comes to creating these products, possible. RIP EVGA, you'll be missed.

The moment this vid popped up on my notification panel, I opened it so fast my RU-vid app went froze for a short moment 😅 Thank you Gamers Nexus for this semi heartbreaking-heartwarming documentary piece, it is so well produced.
What an absolute love letter to the team and their craft; thank you so much to everyone that made this documentary possible. I took for granted how much I put my EVGA cards through, and I'm devastated that they won't be a part of my future builds. Here's hoping someone sees this video and keeps the band together.
A once in a lifetime opportunity for all GN team - what a great time and was very informative and I'll remember this for years to come. Sad to see EVGA go, but thanks for documenting this the way you did!
What a wonderful record & sendoff. It's such a shame this team is disbanded. Steve mentioning the reballing process having a step that resembled screenprinting gave me a wave of emotion b/c there have always been a few steps of PCB creation which drew on much older textile techniques, so of course the most creative & versatile repair department would have designed some new tricks in the same vein to allow them to do the seemingly impossible. Thank you GN, and best wishes to everyone moving on from EVGA.
I've never had an EVGA product, but this makes me really sad I never got one. I've been following the whole series and am beyond impressed by their team. They made history.
This is it. This is my favorite GN video of all time. I can't imagine what it would have been like to be there for this historic moment...but thanks to your efforts, I don't *have* to imagine it. Thank you.
This was really a good tribute to EVGA. I will miss there GPU division My last 4 GPUS have been EVGA and I currently have an EVGA 3070 and a EVGA Powersupply.
Just this morning I checked GN videos thinking this was released and I missed it. I was surprised that it was still not published yet. After watching the video I understand why. This is one of the greatest videos I've ever watched on this platform. The GPU repair section itself is worth paying to watch. Great work GN.
This is an incredible documentary. Congratulations to you and the team that made all of this. I hope all the best for you all and the former GPU team at EVGA. Maybe they'll return some day to break more records.
