The FINAL DAYS Of Tri County Mall (Cincinnati, OH) 

I'm so sad about all the mall closures. It was such a fun place to go with friends and a big part of the 90s-00s culture. So depressing 😞

Shillitos is pronounced Shill-eh-toes, not Shi-leet-ohs, so says me, a life long resident of Cincinnati

Malls are closing, yet they insist that turning them into outdoor malls will solve the problem. If people didn't want to come out in the winter to shop inside, why in the world would they come to shop outside?

this Mall was the place to go during the 80's as a teenager, friday and saturday nights back then was so cool to go and hang out at.

I really like this mall. It’s sad that malls are failing and closing up. I grew up in the 80’s-90’s and the mall was the place to be! I brought my sons to the mall in 05 and 07. Honestly with the economy, I can’t afford to shop at malls anymore.

Lots of memories of good times here with my family. Truly breaks my heart.

I was a kid when this mall first opened, the anchor stores were "SHILLITO'S, POGUES. and SEARS". I think what helped drive this fist mall into the ground was the fact that CINCINNATI went too far on mall construction. there was just too many malls in the area!!!!!

We need the community and socialization malls brought. Badly.

I was there maybe once a week with my buddy once we were out of high school, like 2002. Game swap and Suncoast were where we were always at.

I used to work pretty close to this mall and would go on my lunch break just to get out of the office and stretch my legs. Within a year it went from pretty busy to completely dead. I used to go to the food court with coworkers for lunch and we had a ton of options to pick from. Those all went away. I quit going when the gamestop shut down.

i worked at comp-usa when in forest fair mall, then it moved to princeton pike, across from the tri county mall. it was never in or connected to tri county mall, just for the correction!

I used to love shopping at stores physically. Then they went to strip malls. Now online shopping takes over. Are people just becoming unsociable or lazy?

I grew up in walking distance of this mall. Worked at Johnny Rockets when it opened back in '96. So many memories.

Forest fair mall only mall truly miss

I was last there a few years back and it looked like it was still doing alright(better than Northgate at least), so seeing this is a shock! I guess the effects of covid finally caught up to it. This has happened to basically all the malls around here. There is 1 that's still going strong though. It was one of the better malls around here so this is sad.

your 2010 comment on curfew is a polite way of saying tri county and cincinnati mills mall suffered from "diversity" shift of urban wanting to enjoy suburban areas

Yes Tri county Springdale was home to some cool stores in the 70's 80's 90's People from the area remember this once great mall and also neighboring stores across and up the street, Names like Steinbergs, Swallens, Circuit City, Rinks and others are now gone gone gone, RIP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is Game Swap still in there? I remember going in there all the time and getting bags and bags of video games. I had no idea this mall died but I also haven't been in there for a few years

I seriously doubt the proposed plans for this mall will ever come about. My guess it’ll be bulldozed and warehouses will go in.

Surprisingly it still looks just as good as Kenwood. Kenwood has Apple and a few other high end retailers. I do think however the rich people who live near don’t really shop at Kenwood. Kenwood feels small and cramped compared to this mall. Just too many places to shop and they all can’t survive. This area also lost Costco. Just a bad part of town really and no money to support a place like this…

My mom used to bring me to Krazy City to play every once in a while, but it was gone so quickly. I also remember that SEARS, and how utterly huge it was, especially being a child at the time. The Ruby Tuesdays on the side was one of my favorite places to eat back then. For the longest time, the place has been limping along with Spirit Halloween and the couple restaurants that still hung around. Shame to see it closed, but not a suprise in the slightest. I hope we see a little bit of interest from urban explorers once it's really shuttered.
