thanks Creaky - I called you Sneaky Blinder once (!) on the video - apologies but got it right in the text, just a Freudian slip; The photo associated with this monologue was taken by me in late Dec 1978 at around 2am solar local from the Twin Otter, and on the Rutford Ice stream, so pretty close to the same area as Union Glacier - again, really enjoy your educational content...keep it up

Ah, a note about sunshades (or sunglasses as us Yanks call them). When I went to pole as part of a science expedition, we were told not to bring sunglasses with metal frames. Metal frames may conduct too much heat away from where the temples rest on the sides of your head any may cause frost-bite on your face. You want non-thermally conductive frames on your sunglasses.
@hellozerohellozero
@hellozerohellozero Месяц назад
Absolutely - thanks - you probably don't want any metal against the body -' that goes for piercings (!), rings or anything that can be exposed - I don't expect Union to be super cold at the time of visitation and it will be much much warmer than the higher and colder South Pole station you saw -= it was about --20C but can rise close to -1C (still air) or so when I was in the Union area in Dec - it can feel hot at times in the direct sun and the balance of how much clothing layering is needed related to how much energy your putting out - not unheard of me just wearing a pyjama top at times when running with the dogs -but in my era we had leather rimmed "Harry Potter" style sunglasses with side shades, and great optics, to stop reflected sunlight coming in from the side or bottom of the glasses - you can tend to end up with a "Panda" look .....cheers

Whilst serving in the British Army in 99 I got to go up in a VC10 refueling a couple of tornadoes. The pilot took a detour south to see a massive ice sheet that had calved from the Antarctic ice. So big it had it's own weather system. The co-pilot told me we could see the coast, beautiful clear sky but I'm still not sure he wasn't having a little joke at my expense. Pilot had the last laugh though when the co-pilot was in control for a practice 'touch off' landing and he reached down and switched off an engine. Scary but amazing memories.

Thanks - It was non scripted and unedited ramble - I did wake one mistake - the decent off down off the South Pole plateau was via the Scott not Beardmore glacier - I think the point is for me was just to vent a bit as there has been people claiming/shouting completely unsubstantiated "Fraud!!!" (Whitsit and others) - that the 79-82 Circumnavigation didnt happen - I find that personally insulting but also to the living and those members that have passed, or the hard work that produced a large amount of peer reviewed science that resulted from it over the past 45 years or so. Or something crazy about us all being somethings or belonging to etc - Quite what difference that would make in crossing both Poles and arriving back from where you started N/S doing a circumnavigation is beyond me - even if was true! Being a failed 11 plus student and attending a secondary modern in NE Surrey and working Blue collar for the first part of my life doesn't and hasn't put me in that category (!)- though subsequently I appeared to have woken up academically in myTwenties when the Polar regions started its life long attraction. Thank you for a very interesting and educational post. It's nice to hear from someone with the practical experience and history to back up his facts. Since you have knowledge of the Union Glacier camp, I do have a practical question for you. Approximately how big is is the area accessible to the people in the camp? I've always thought that a nice collorary experiment to do while they are down there is to measure the distance between points of longitude at a given latitude (or at two latitudes). On an oblate sphere, at 80 degrees south, the degrees of longitude would converge to about 12 miles, whereas, on any type of flat earth, they would be diverging and be over 200 miles.
@hellozerohellozero
@hellozerohellozero 29 дней назад
Hi TC - Im trying to get my head around the question - When you mean area do you mean say within a few degrees of Lat and then measure the Longitudinal distance in say Nautical miles.... as you say go South to the pole? Im sure if you talk to ALE with any proposition they will give you an idea -- knowing they operate remote camps at the base of VInson and support many more Poleward at times I dont think it would be an issue in principle - but sure, they may be scoping and safety restrictions given the topology and crevasse/bergschrund risks especially as that whole are is basically one or more glaciers and ice streams - You "aint in Kansas anymore Toto" :-)
@timothycollins3829
@timothycollins3829 28 дней назад
@@hellozerohellozero thanks for the answer. I guess what I was asking was whether an experiment such as the one I was describing would be practical in the area near Union Glacier base. I know the conditions down there would be difficult, even in mid antarctic summer, but from what I read on the ALE website, they do seem to offer various programs around the base that suggest that they might have some safe routes mapped out. As I mentioned, the discrepancy between degrees of longitude at 80 degrees south is pretty profound. So, I was looking for any info you might have on distance east to west that could be traveled near the base by the participants in the Final Experiment (i.e., people without technical mountaineering or glacial experience). As a related question (and one I think you have at least partially answered in your prior videos) am I correct that GPS readings are possible and accurate at Union base? My knowledge of the GPS satellite system doesn't reach that far south.
@hellozerohellozero
@hellozerohellozero 26 дней назад
@@timothycollins3829 Hi Well - On foot East/West out the camp in probably limited a bit with glaciers and crevasses and to some extent the mountains. Given one degree in longitudinal change is just shy of 11 nautical miles at that latitude and holding a GPS the change will be quickly apparent even over short base lines - at Punta Arenas where the plane taking them to the camp the difference is around 30 miles even at that latitude. GPS works fine and little jamming as not close to a war zone. In past times aircraft used a bog standard compass, and with a with known mag variation East or West. and given the South Mag Pole is on the other side of the Continent the declination isnt too severe so the compass there will work ok ) - Later still Inertial Navigation system (INS) was and probably still used - this by inputting a known location into the flight computer and then the plane senses where its going using data from accelerometers and gyros etc - though drift in accuracy does occur after a while OMEGA was used for flight navigation is Antarctic - this using VLF transmitters and doing a phase comparison of the signals from of a number of sequenced specific stations located around the Globe - this system, like GPS , needed an accurate clock or reference to a clock to work - OMEGA (pre GPS) was a little fraught at times in Antarctica is there was a bad solar storm and affected the accuracy of location and speed as the radio waves near the Poles were "skewed or delayed or fluttered/attenuated- OMEGA had us flying backwards at one time during a big Solar event If on the ground in Antarctica a Sextant was used pre GPS - given the issues with the surface roughness (ie we dont have nice sea horzon to work with) a tray of alcohol or some other reflective is placed in line some distance away between you and the sun - you use the reflection of the sun in the liquid and modify the maths using the edge of the reflected sun disk to calculate where you are during the day. We used Sextants pre GPS in the Arctic on another North Pole expedition too as I have a video of our team doing a measurement and that was in 1988 - cheers

Thanks for your comment = Id say in all honesty, for me, there is just too much overriding examples of visual and day to day work and play examples in life that make it a 110% Globe (the extra 10% was just for effect) One is a doosy - I would not be sitting here typing this out if I wasnt able to have gone 50 deg ish North to 90deg South, to 90 deg North then to 50 deg North again on the same bearing via both Poles, and for that matter East to West and got back to dear ol' Blighty and London town - Id be off quite literally off on a Tangent somewhere in La la land, lost for ever. But Im here - honest and not AI Having spent many years of my working life South of the Antarctic circle and for the matter at the other end - there is nothing quite like standing on on a Rock being nipped on the legs by Adelie Penguins, dived bombed by recalcitrant Antarctic Skuas, aiming to take chunks out of your scalp, whilst looking at the Southern Horizon, icebergs, Sei and Minke Whales and the sun sitting above lowish above the horizon at local midnight.... Thanks for asking - Yes I have over many Antarctic summers : So have many thousands of souls doing research work or vacationing/climbing mountains/pulling sledges South of the Antarctic Circle you will get at least one day when the sun never sets - and the further South it gets higher in the sky - As a rough example, those lucky people on the Final Experiment (FTE) trip to Union Glacier, Ellsworth land Antarctica will see an unobstructed sun (on a clear day!) at Base camp location at 2300ft asl from 12th Nov 2024 till end of January 2025 if they stayed that long....it would be longer if the local mountains, Nunataks and Ice rises weren't in the way.... Between those dates the Sun will even clear to two highest and closest obstructionist shadowing peaks (Bearing 132 and 170 degT) around 5 or 6 miles away or so and up to 6000ft asl in height. On Dec 21 2024 the sun will be way above even those highest and closest peaks (some 14degrees above horizon) and will reach some 34 degrees above the horizon at local sun highest point around 1136 - due North. The lowest elevation the sun will bea bove the horizon will be over 13 degrees on that date, due South. (no guarantees on my maths!)

I don't care either way, but the "proof" of curve is marginal at best and the MM experiment and its followers seem to suggest there is no motion (but the ether progression). Why can't globers provide something a little more convincing than bubbles in spacewalks and harnesses/CG in the ISS, and fake teslas in space?

@Hobbes746
@Hobbes746 Месяц назад
The 1972 photo does not have enough resolution to see the oblateness. Modern weather satellites like the GOES series operated by NOAA take photos of the entire hemisphere at 12,000 pixels, or about 1 km per pixel. That is enough to see the oblateness: Earth is 30 pixels wider than it is high. We came to the conclusion Earth is an oblate spheroid after two geodesic expeditions in 1735, which measured the length of one degree of latitude in Ecuador and in Lapland. The difference between the two lengths was the first proof Earth is oblate.

On the Oblateness side of our Globe - Look out for another video on this soon. It will go into what a small advantage a squished at the Poles (compared with the equator) on the globe can give scientists and expeditions. I think the other response covered it - the 0.3% increase in deviation from spherical with a very small bulge at the equator is difficult to see even on a good day but it its very important still - the faster you spin the bigger the bulge if you considered the Earth crust and mantle etc to be fairly plastic in nature..... @Hobbes746
@Hobbes746 27 дней назад
@@Ballberto11 As I’ve already told you, we don't need to put Earth images into Photoshop to stretch them: the photos already show Earth’s oblateness. Earth is only 30 km wider than it is high, that’s a difference of 0.3%. The unaided eye cannot see this: the difference is too small. But when you open an image from e.g. GOES in Photoshop, it’s easy to measure the difference. You can also cut up the image, and place a vertical half (cut along the axis between the poles) against a horizontal half (cut along the equator): you will see that the equator is longer than the polar axis. So this claim from “the authorities” is not contradictory at all. The tides are caused by the moon. The tides in the oceans are noticeable because the oceans are so large that the moon pulls harder on one part of the ocean than it does on another part of the ocean: water is free to move from one place to another and create a tidal bulge. Lakes are not large enough to do this: every part of the lake experiences the same gravitational pull from the moon. There is no place to draw water from to create a tidal bulge.

Here is an actual video of this on a 11.5KM lake. You can clearly see the opposite side of the lake and the man has the camera half ways into water. The camera is waterproof. We live on a sphere, but it's very big. That means you see so little of the sphere that it's not possible to notice the curvature, not from sea level at least. If that does not convince you, make a photo of the horizon, calculate the lenght of the piece of horizon the photo shows, and calculate the percentage that line represents to the whole circumference. Then you can draw over the photo the arc of the circunference you got over the horizon, and see if its accurate or not.

The earth has never been circumnavigated South to North. I am glad you mentioned this because that's exactly what needs to be attempted. What this means is a straight strict line, SOUTH with no left turns, no right turns. So no East and No West. Start from the Southern tip of South America and proceed in a straight line South right through the deep interior of Antarctica from shore to shore. So that line should split Antarctica in half clean. If the other shore is hit, the line must proceed North across the Indian Ocean and if the earth was truly a 3D rotund sphere like the globe model, this should be no problem as you would be able to reach India and then the North Pole if you kept going. This path has never been taken, that's a fact. I have all the circumnavigation attempts including the one you mentioned and participated in.. the path was not a straight strict line like I described above. In reality a straight strict line in any direction on earth also be the way to verify whether or not earth is truly a 3D rotund sphere. It's called direct measurement of the earth. This has never been done, people are satisfied with their supposed circumnavigations and are doing them under the assumption that earth is truly a 3d rotund sphere. I understand the limitations in regarding Antarctica and trying to attempt a strict straight line crossing right through the deep interior section. Since 2014 myself and others tried to get globers, concave earthers, level earthers, pac-man earthers, banana earthers to get together and form an expedition to cross Antarctica, zero traction was made. We then tried to get everyone to support an experiment called Two Circles, One Ball. This would omit going SOuth of the 60th parallel and instead place a team on the 60th parallel South and one on the 60th Parallel North. Both teams would start off at the same line of longitude and follow their parallel in the same direction at the same speed. What should be expected if earth was truly a 3D sphere would be that both teams would finish neck and neck. If earth was truly a level plane the North Team would finish first with the South Team lagging behind. Globers back in 2018 would just try to assume ..ohh that's because it's an oblate spheroid..lol. But the same globers assume we are living on the same shape we see in the sky, but there are no other oblate spheroids, instead NASA gives everyone fake images of earth as a perfect sphere. I've heard globers try to say.. ohh.. they do that because no one wants to look at an imperfect sphere, they want to see a perfect sphere shape, so it has to be faked! LMAO! Think about that one.. meanwhile there's NO proof or curvature upon direct measurement of the earth on the surface. Not one glober has been able to present footage of curvature unless it was with a fisheye lens or doctored. We have an observation where a NON flat earther broke the world record for the LONGEST filmed interview, this guy filmed himself from 12 miles away, he was perfectly in frame from head to toe. He should've been about 90 foot beneath the curve of the earth. We have infra-red footage from planes where you can see 1000 miles away, places that should be beneath the curve. We have Non Fish Eye footage from balloons 120,000 feet up, ZERO curvature. To make matters worse for the globe, globers from Creaky level to Neil Tyson.. can't isolate and prove gravity exists. They just special plead for the force to exist, a force that magically has a double vector.. up sometimes with helium balloons, objects filled with air in water etc and down. This force is supposed to be accelerating objects towards earth at 9.8 meters per second squared, yet when you test accelerating of water and gas in a bottle.. by accelerating said bottle in any direction you get displacement of the gas and liquid. Now take that same bottle of air and water, hold it out in front of you, drop it. You get ZERO displacement. So globers are special pleading that their magical force can grab gasses, liquids and solids to turn them into one unit accelerated towards earth.. zero displacement. We have now proven earth is a level plane rising upwards at a constant rate. That's what gives us our constant weight, earth does not accelerate upwards constantly or we'd all get heavier. You, me and everything else is attached to the earth that rises upwards at a constant rate. If the creator snapped his fingers and stopped earth, we'd all rise upwards, that's what basic physics proves. Anyone can do the experiment I described above with water and air in a bottle. Stationary flat earthers have the same issue as the globers as they too are special pleading for density and buoyancy to be a force and that objects have a desire to remain at rest, lol. Globers have always had the ability to laugh at the stationary earthers who would just spout density and buoyancy as the reason for objects to remain on the ground. The spinning hurtling 3D spheroid needs gravity to exist, it's the primary ingredient and now they don't have that. Stationary flat earthers try to site Relative Density Disequalibrium with their model, but RDD ceases to be in free-fall. Take that same water bottle with an air bubble rising and a weight sinking as you hold the bottle. Now drop the bottle, the air bubble stops rising and the weight stops sinking. When the bottle is on the earth and subjected to the FORCE of the earth moving upwards, the weight proceeds to sink and the bubble moves upwards. That's the reality of where you live, the Science can't be denied. The globers can't isolate gravity and they can't isolate and pinpoint where the oceans are bending and conforming to their cartoon ball. Will Duffy's experiment is to see if the 24 hour sun exists in Antarctica, it doesn't. Our sun rotates over the known land masses with all of the celestial which rises upwards with the level plane seamlessly while rotating over our heads like a fine time piece. We can also have more land SOUTH of all known land masses, those land masses would also have their own sun rotating above. This is a very real possibility and those suns could account for 24 hours of daylight in the Antarctic Summer as our sun and another sun spiral outwards and get closer to Antarctica to create the illusion of 24 hours of daylight. 24 hours of daylight versus witnessing ONE sun over head for 24 hours and filming in make a loop overhead are two totally different things. Will Duffy knows that and accepts the results must show ONE SUN making a complete circuit overhead, not one sun setting out of view.. while daylight exists in the background without a visible sun. The liars DO NOT want flat earthers and globers anywhere near Antarctica to try and directly film ONE sun making such a circuit. They know that this can't be done, so the way they will combat this.. is to cancel their trip. How do I know this? Well back in 2020.. what did we get? We had CONvid. We had some flat earthers who purchased a ship and were going to make their way towards Antarctica with Math Powerland, this did not happen by design. Now we have Will Duffy trying to get globers and flat earthers to film a 24 hour sun, what do we have? We have WW3 likely breaking out. This is what the globalist elite do, they protect the lie at all costs. If by chance this trip does happen.. they will NOT film 24 hours of sun, the sky will be overcast, they will never be able to film a 24 hour sun, at best they will see 24 hours of daylight. So they can assume a sun simulator is helping to create that, or a 2nd sun over hidden land masses is causing the effect.
