It's a shame that BIG only had 10 minutes between the semi-finals and the finals, mainly because the semi-finals were so intense. I think it would have been a lot more exciting if they had had a day or more off
Yeah and now they beat solary once already in all-stars, and have to play numelops in quarterfinal and then likely solary again in semis and if they win it'll be a repeat situation against alliance. Massa and granady have been playing out of their minds lately beating solary multiple times this stage. Alliance are just so dominant that any team will struggle to win against them right now
@@ARudePanda yeah, people who don't play, but watch the videos (like i have until 11 months ago lolol) don't realize how god damn difficult playing on this level actually is
I wish there was an option on youtube to put a spoiler mark on the duration of the video when marked as spoiler, that way the duration would only show when you click on the tag to remove it, because I knew the result by the middle of it due knowing the duration
Love Alliance, so glad to see Mudda having his hard work pay off and low key Soulja has shown incredible improvement. On a less positive note, if you can't do a double elimination bracket properly then don't do one, this grand final was such a short match that felt underwhelming compared to the lower final because they forced a double elimination bracket with no way to balance the grand final.
@@cubic_regent after reviewing the actual format of the tournament I think I understand better what the original commenter was talking about. Of course the team from the upper bracket should have an advantage, but the tournament was set up in a goofy way where the grand final was likely to be the shortest match. The upper bracket matches were two Bo7s followed by a tiebreaker and the lower bracket matches were two Bo5s followed by a tiebreaker. The Grand Final on the other hand was set up as a Bo3 of Bo7 matches where the upper bracket team has a 1-0 lead to start. That's fair and all, but that means that it is going to be either one Bo7 or two Bo7s in length. In comparison the Upper Bracket and Lower Bracket finals both went two full series (Bo7s in upper and Bo5s in lower) followed by a tiebreaker. Kind of makes the Grand Final feel a little less grand than the matches leading up to it.
Giving a full set lead in a bo3 set of bo7 matches, while only giving the lower bracket team half an hour to rest after their previous full set, is setting up the lower bracket team for failure. I’m hoping they figure out a better solution next format. Even a bo5 set of bo5 matches, with a 1 set lead for upper bracket, would level the playing field and also make for a slightly longer and more interesting match. I’d also give a little more time between matches, though with broadcasting schedule that might not be feasible.
@@LunarySSF2there is fair disadvantage and there is unfair disadvantage. It doesn't make sense to have exhausted players. This competition is created for the best of the best to compete, not to see a fully rested team beat people who have been sweating for an hour and a half before.
I have come to love these videos after watching your other Trackmania content on RU-vid. You and Jnic are fantastic casters and the pro circuit is so competitive, really fun to watch
Was excited to watch this after the LB-Final, however that format sucks tremendously. Not only is a whole Bo7 way to big of an advantage but it gets even worse when you realize that only two teams were ever seeded in the upper bracket to begin with. Add onto this that in a lot of other leagues the seeding for Alliance and BIG would have been the other way around due to BIG actually winning the match against Alliance with both teams ending 5-2 and you realize that the advantage Alliance had was entirely unjustified.
tbh, the grand final was trash compared to the lower bracket final. it's such a weird decission to force the lower bracket winning team immediatly into the grand final after playing 2 bo7's and a decider map with a minimal pause. I mean with these circumstances, it's not a fair playground (concerning the concentration) that would be needed for a worthy final of tmgl.
It's not fair because it shouldn't be fair, the upper bracket team should have the advantage. The real question is how to make it a satisfying grand final whilst keeping it balanced around an upper bracket advantage, which this format failed to do.
that's the disadvantage of lower bracket ig and the losers and winners bracket are on the same bracket position, so the winner bracket team are essentially waiting for the losers final winner to play against them, and that's a certified double elimination moment
@@AspglutrTV yeah and even if they had lost, they get a 2. chance by dropping to LB. this competition system was dumb. on top of that, they start the grand final with a lead of 1-0, how stupid is that?
Thank you so much for making these videos, I have always been interested in all esports but never watch them, i genuinely might start watching tmwc etc., really good casting with jnic!
Shoutout to the guy who was complaining during the first split that Solary was OP and that two world champions should not ne allowed to play as a team because there was no competition. Behold: competition! Look at these teams, look at the level they reached, and how intense these races are!
nah it was not fair. Them getting a full match for free is fine-ish but BIG had to play another full 2 rounds literally 5 minutes before this match, they were exhausted asf.
@@rosekrababbel7042 the advantages are too big. they have to play less games to get to grand final, they dont need to worry about breaks between games, they get a 1-0 lead in the grand final and to top it all off, if the upper bracket teams lose before the grand final, they get a 2. chance in lower bracket. this system is completely dumb.
as someone who plays (and organizes) haxball matches competitively, official matches can be up to 40-50 minutes long in knockout phase, exhaustion is definitely a thing, a person can only be focused for so long... a day in between makes more sense for such important matches, 30 minutes rest is simply not enough when you consider the amount of preparation these guys go through before these tournaments...
Didnt know big had a trackmania team, honestly just never thought about it. I really dont follow this game and really only know big from cs. Really surprising seeing them here
Who is your co-commentator already? Because around 39:00 he NAILED it with the analysis. Predicting Mudda victory on that lap together on the reason why he was catching up was awesome. You are an excellent cast yourself obviously. But he very often make the whole commenting much better. That complementarity is crucial. I'm glad we can have this from time to time. You shall consider it a regular collab for your channel.
You mean Wirt's co-commentator JNic? They live in the same house and I think by his own words he's become Wirtual's best friend, although Jnic is moving back to his home country Denmark soon. And it's nice to see that people are equally excited about their commentary, I remember watching early TMGL matches from this season earlier in the year on the official grand league channel, and there were sometime comments asking why Jnic was even there, and such things. I think his commentary might've improved since then too. :3
i have recently grown an interest to play trackmania, I believe there are a few trackmania, i want to know is it the one with the user created tracks and it simply called trackmania?
Unfortunately I realised Alliance was going to win after about 35-40 mins because of how much time was left in the video. Kinda ruined it. But I guess that's what I get for not watching live.
kinda funny how i never played trackmania and watched the final of this cup but i dont watch the final of the league of legends worlds even tho i played that game for over 12 years and am even masters lol
I don't watch trackmania esports so I'm not 100% sure but it seems like you get a point for finishing above a player from the other team but only for one of their players? so if a race finishes: 1st= "A1" 2nd= "B1" 3rd= "A2" 4th= "B2" ( "A"=alliance players) A1 beat b1 so he gets a point for alliance and A2 best B2 so he also gets them a point so that would be 2 points for them. But B1 also beat A2 so he gets BIG one point for that? Then I think if you ace and both of your team get 1st and 2nd you get a bonus point giving you 3 points for the round. It seems pretty complicated and that could just be me completely misunderstanding it LMAO, they should probably just make it simple and use the ranked system but last place gets 0 points and raise the total score needed maybe? Seems like a lot more people would watch if they understood the points easier
@Payzh An Ace is A1 A2 B3 B4 and gives 3 points to A and 0 points to B A round victory is A1 B2 A3 B4 and gives 2 points to A and 1 point to B A draw is A1 B2 B3 A4 or vice versa, and gives 1 point to each team.
Why is everyone complaining about lower bracket format, this format has been in use since stage 1 and no one was complaining about it when bds v solary happened
I don't think people are unhappy with the format, they are unhappy that the format didn't force a longer game. The final is great if BIG wins the first series the format is great. The best games are the closest ones and unfortunately it wasn't close.
was it amazing tho? BIG, coming from a x hour peak performance in semifinals right before this match^^ Some hours of full concentration. To have here a 40min performance of being already a best of 7 set behind. Being over after 40min. Final was underwhelming for me. Was over before really noticing it started already. After the BIG WIn vs alliance few weeks before it felts like it could be more exciting with better circumstances. So for me AMAZING FINAL are the wrong words^^
The final was by FAR the worst match to watch of the entire season. - only 10 minutes between matches for BIG - way too short - the advantage Alliance had due to the upper bracket was just plain unfair
Im on the final day of the tourney in disc golf and I would love to see a disc golf video from you. It doesn’t matter if you’re not good I would just love to see it. (Edit) I won the tourney.
There was hardly anything amazing about this. BIG had 15 mins between their excruciating 2 hour game against Solary and this. Additionally i could hardly think of anything more anti-climactic to the Playoffs than letting the upper bracket team start with an ENTIRE bo7 up over the other team. There is no universe in which a Team coming from the lower bracket could ever win the Grand Final under these circumstances.
yeah exactly, the advantages for upper bracket are just way too much. if anything, the advantage of having to play less matches to reach the grand final + getting a 2. chance if they lose before grand finals is already advantage enough. but starting the match 1-0? thats just stupid.
It may have been the previous season final, or the semi final. Still, I kind of get where you are coming from. The matches could be edited in the style of a documentary, but I like the full round upload. I get that it can seem quite similar even when viewing different matches.
