Personally, I think all the books in the violence layer (paint the world red, antennas to heaven) were written by the same dude who made the minotaur since they all seem to share the same reverence for death. They will likely be prime third and I can't wait to fight them.

This would make sense as the earthmover itself seems to be corrupted and constrained by mounds of what appears to be hell mass. You know, the stuff the demons are made of.

It seems like towards the end of the war, and peace-time began it seemed to get more colorful. V1 was extremely colorful, with V2 backing the design philosophy. Sentries, Drones, etcetra.

The sentries and the drones seem to fill a more specialized role in combat or even for security, and the soldiers and mindflayers appear to br augmented by some force within hell, meaning they didn’t come from the surface. The swordsmachine is something that has augmented itself beyond its originao purpose, so for all we know it couldve been originally civillian in purpose, and streetcleaners are originally civillian, but converted for combat in hell specifically. The gutterman and guttertanks are the first enemies designed for the express purpose of open, sustained warfare. Their role is not specialized for security or eliminating one person. It is to wage destruction, to sustain warrented counterfire, and respond indexcrimentantly with the strongest sustained payload possible. Though other machines may be designed or repurposed for combat, the guttertank and guttermen are exclusively designed for war.

Hakita said in a dev stream that there isn't a country of origin for V1 (in-lore), the reason you have Russian, German, and Japanese writing on several machines was to emphasize the fact that this was a world war that involved all nations, so V1's country of origin wasn't important. I'll just add my crack theory that it's probably Finland, that would be funny.

V1 could also perhaps be a full answer to most problems the Machines as a whole presented since their first model, the Gutterman. Blood fueling must have been a painfully costly procedure (Extract, Refine or remove impurities that just makes maintenance more frequent, add the preservative additive, put on the storage tanks, delive to the fueling station.), How they solved it? Thin the plates, make them porous (Worse durability, but enables the breakthrough technology) add a full system inside V1 where it can take in blood, draw the resources to where they must go (Iron to the internal 3D printer for coins, the energy factor to the power system...) And store excess in its tank. Most Machines are stuck on specific roles or have absolute limits to what they can and cannot do (Sentries are Sniper focused, Guttermen use suppressive fire and overfocuses on Melee, Guttertanks are guttermen counters only...). The solution? Bacl to the Human form, all the best a Machine offers (Superb reaction time, only needs the necessary FCS software to be added to its memory to let it use all weapons like a superb master, the self repair is easier, faster and more convenient) with the absolute adaptability of the humans (It has all weapons humanity ever made accessible, and through an Adaptive combat sofware, it can not only learn new tactics or develop methods of overcoming threats, but quickly adopt new weapons even if they are jury rigged ones (Nailgun, weaponized Railway construction tool). It was the Magnum Opus of Human engineering for the Ultrakill universe, it was adaptable, versatile, used the best in technology, and had a size and material cost likely to be very affordable, thoigh still pricey for the end of times period of the war. It was also never deployed, for the war ended, leaving it and V2, the "Peacetime" model, to never see the light until Hell decided to cause humanity's end.

It could theoretically be possible, If the earthmover was patient enough it could wait for a few years while keeping the bare minimum of systems to keep its brain alive it could conserve enough energy to last

Maybe mindflayer took the plastic out of the earthmover to build such sensual body?

I had a theory about why Mindflayers are the way they are, because the terminal entry doesn’t mention why they will die to protect their plastic body. My guess is that it’s hell itself corrupted them, though in a more literal sense. I think it probably influenced the mindflayers to make their purely cosmetic bodies, given it’s the literal dimension of sin it probably just did it for its own amusement.

Or mindflayers might be a entirely hell-constructed machine. A ‘Hell original’ so to speak just like the Mannequins.

Which would connect back to the first comments inspiration from the security system from the Earthmovers. Either that or it was reusing parts to make its own creation like a cursed Mr.Potatohead

Maybe hell did escape to the surface and/or control the machines there but heaven us very unlikely. In the terminal entry for either gabriel or the virtues (i forgot which one it is but ye) it says that heaven doesn’t want to “interfere with god’s human experiment” so yeah that’s that

Well Streetcleaners are confirmed to have been built after the war ended. Idk why they can deflect rockets. And the Swordsmachine was one specific scraphead machine that other scraphead machines then copied because it was so cool in their eyes Mindflayers being made to counter sentries makes sense though.

@@mailcs06 it says they were made to deal with the climate catastrophe, but were made obsolete AFTER the New Peace. And the Earthmovers entry doesn't say anything about a climate catastrophe, so there must've been something else beforehand. Plus, we know barely anything about The Final War, so there might've some kind of event after the full production of the machines. Plus, if they were made AFTER the war, then they wouldn't have any combat experience. TL:DR, they weren't made after the war ended

probable cause is that some of the machines went into hell as well like v1, and others like the gutterman, guttertank, the earthmover were made by hell itself to punish those inside the violence layer, doomed to suffer for eternity by the hands of their own creation, just like the video points out.

They were replicated by hell and used as punishment for the creators of those machines

I think most of the machines broke into hell looking for blood like V1, but the Guttermen, Guttertanks, and Earthmovers got sent there after they died due to their sins of violence. The new book added in the arsenal update pretty much confirms that they’re alive and sapient after all.

Streetcleaners were made after the final war had ended for the purpose of cleaning up the debris and pollution of the war with their flames, and drones were made after the war for security. They weren’t even equipped with lethal weapons until they managed to scavenge them after humanity died out (presumably they were equipped with like rubber bullets before or smth)

The Saw launcher was added before Guttermen tho

in the dev commentary, hakita said that the timeline aligning with WW1 was a happy coincidence that was actually completely unintended also in the dev commentary, he states that the earthmover is still in the second ring of violence, the forest. the earthmover we see in 7-3 is indeed the one we kill in 7-4

Well the silly red blood fueled Nikkon was made after war had ravaged their supplies.

I mean, we have no idea what kinds of materials are needed to make V1 or V2. Mi guess is that they are EXTREMELY complex machines, made with some extremely exotic materials. They are Supreme machines after all, the only other machine that also was considered supreme was the Earthmovers

There’s a good amount of info that hints towards Hell Itself expanding its influence onto Earth and killing the humans, like the P-2 ARG ending with: “I can only hope this encrypted message is received before [Hell Itself] learns to read it and intercept it.
