Interesting! It feels very classical. That said, it doesn't really feel like a finale to me, particularly with how gently it ends. I'd be interested in seeing how you develop this for a larger piece. One piece of criticism - there are very few note intervals larger than a whole step. I think adding a bit more variety in note intervals would make the piece more memorable.
I think I wanted it to be a finale because it's not really in sonata form so it wouldn't traditionally be the first movement, it's not slow so it's not the second, and it's not really a dance so it's not the third movement either. I just went back to my drafts of the other movements today and it looks like there's a lot of stuff to throw out so maybe this will end up with a different movement structure About the stepwise motion, I had a thing for that a few years ago for some reason, but the other movements have more leaps, and my other pieces are also better at this, I think Thank you for the comment!
@@yoavshati certainly! and I wouldn't restrict yourself to sonata form unless you're explicitly trying to mimic the classical style. feel free to play around with form. i tend to gravitate toward a romantic idiom with my compositions, but i play around with time signature a lot.
@werothegreat I don't usually try to imitate any specific style, but it is nice to have an established structure to follow. I'll change the movements' order if I think it will sound better overall
