The original creator of the Spongebob SAW videos actually did a couple of remastered versions in recent years. They were made in MS Paint just like the old ones, but you can tell a lot more effort was put into the designs and animation frames. Not to mention those weird stick-figure guys were all replaced with characters based on the fish citizen designs commonly reused in Spongebob episodes, such as Fred ("MY LEG") and the Chocolate Guy for example.
Actually, both were made by panchitomatrix, whoever made the first one is a fan translation and it was originally in spanish, then uploaded in English by panchitomatrix
The craziest thing is that the saw-themed parodies are actually a pretty coherent retelling of the first two saw movies. I mean, the needle pit, the gas house, the twists... that surprised me more than anything.
Anyone remember the "Grandma's Kisses" RU-vid poops? It really appealed to the edgy little shit I was as a teenager and I thought it was the epitome of comedy at the time. Oh how we grow.
Do you mean "Grandma's Kisses bad version"? That wasn't so much a YTP as much as a redub of the episode. You can still find it archived on other sites through a Google search.
I remember seeing Spongebong Hempants as a child and just thinking "okay it's a parody" and referring to it as "green Spongebob". Now I re-watched it and though "what the actual hell?"
Boy, does this bring back memories. I don’t know if you ever saw it, but I had a lightly-viral video back in the early days of RU-vid where I synced up clips of Spongebob to “If You Were Gay” from Avenue Q. It was removed from RU-vid a few years ago for copyright reasons, but I used to be so into making horrible AMVs back in the day 😆

Man I remember someone asked me to redo the "SpongeBob saw videos" on my own style back then, I even got a sketch of a scene of him with a chain. But I couldn't, I was too lazy lol
I love this subgenre of people dubbing fanwork that they remember reading on the internet when they were younger, that were either fancomics or RU-vid slideshows, that didn't originally have voice acting This is the only time I've seen it done but I love it already

When I found spongebong hemppants at age 9, I just assumed that spongebob was a drug addict, Patrick was made of garbage, and that squidward was a tampon. I still thoroughly enjoyed it.
Nothing takes me back to the prime of my early RU-vid experience more than finding Spongebob Plays Saw when I was like 11 and watching it on our family computer
Better yet, you’d end up with two genetically identical clones. Now I’m really sad they’ve never explored that in the actual show-Patrick falls into a spinning fan and suddenly there’s a thousand Patricks running around Bikini Bottom
@@cartilagehead6326 There's an episode from I believe Season 6,7 or 8 where Spongebob teaches Patrick karate. At the end of the episode,Patrick's arm grows back.
I remember A LOT watching the weird af chinese spongebob and drugged spongebob parodies on youtube back when I was a kid, I didn't even understood wtf I was watching, it felt so uncanny and weird to me, yet its a memory I'll never forget
I saw all three of these when I was waaaaaay too young to see them. Spongebob in China is one of the first RU-vid videos I ever saw and I found it hilarious even though I had no idea what they were talking about. I thought they were saying “honorable Shermin” at the beginning. I didn’t bongpants at all but mimicked it much to my parents disatesfaction. I used to watch the saw ones not knowing what Saw was until I was eventually “scarred” and vowed to never watch another one again. This video is the first time I’m laying eyes on it about 10 years lol.
6:05, don't worry lol, I had that same thought as well, pretty sure I maintained that belief until I was in my pre-teens and started getting more access to the internet.
Came back to this video a few years after it came out, and I love that the Saw parodies were clearly written by a kid who read the wikipedia articles for Saw and Saw II because they weren't allowed to watch them
When i was a child i saw spongebong hemppants on youtube and i never googled what the joke was. and i had absolutely no clue what drugs were as i was only 5. I just saw it and was like "This is cool. A version of spongebob for adults where the characters are weird colors" and that was it!
Ahhh Spongebob Hempants, i remember watching that parody everyday when i was a kid, now i just asked myself, WTF and how am i watching this and love it back in the day.
I love how after establishing the 2 random characters were Phineas and Ferb in that second saw video, Salty almost immediately gave the next side character Dr. Doofenshmirtz's voice
I remember when the China and SpongeBong parodies for the first time when I was seven (yes, seven)... to describe my emotions at the time as a meme, *I am confusion.* I saw SpongeBob and clicked because that was my favorite show at the time

I remember greatly appreciating Spongebong Hemppants when I was in school, because those two were almost exactly like these two burn-outs I knew in the 11th grade, Steven and Brad.
I remember seeing, like, a little bit of SpongeBob in China. I think I also assumed that it was actually what SpongeBob looked like in China, but also I was still young enough and enough of a wuss that what little of the video I saw kind of scared me. Also thank you for mentioning that Bikini Bottom Horror thing, that made me want to go find it and I did and loved it
Wow, it's so cool to see a video on this subject! It's a little niche piece of weird media history! By the way, it was so awesome to see Salty come on! The segment where it was just the plushies talking was totally hammy and cartoonish and super fun. 😄 the image of two grown men crouching behind a table making plushies talk to each other was hilarious. As a foreign kid who barely spoke english I fondly remember spongebob hemp pants as this weird creepy video I‘ve watched with a friend one time. I too had no idea what hemp was and therefor I didn‘t get any of the jokes. So basically to my child brain this was some kind of hellish spongebob lost episode with this scary sandy fu*k up so I was just getting scared watching it and having nightmares about it. In retrospect it‘s fascinating to know it was supposed to actually air on TV! I actually to this day I thought it was just a very ambitious newgrounds project or something.
