MapaPRO Amateur Varsity o ligang labas. Eto yung klase ng moments na bata ka pa lang pinapangarap mo na. last shot buzzer beater to win the championship. Congrats UP FIGHTING MAROONS. DASURB!
For someone who still remembers the multiple 0-14 campaigns, the simple joys of joking to light a bonfire if we got at least one win throughout the season, this just made me cry. UP Fight!
true.... those moments when everyone, even those from other schools, were cheering for UP because finally they got a win... but i think everything started from there...
I’ve watched this video an unhealthy amount of time. Studied in UP my entire life. My dad and I supported Shell in the PBA back then because of Paras, Magsanoc, Altamirano, and Guanio. I started watching the UAAP back in 1995 when I was studying in UPIS and Paolo Mendoza was my boyhood UP basketball idol. I felt bad when Ateneo took Joe Lipa as their coach as I felt like he should just be associated with UP forever. When the commentators mentioned their names, all the memories came flooding back lol. Thank you, UP MBT! Our hearts are full. Atin na!
Also went to UP and supported Shell in the PBA! All the feels! I wish they mentioned our last Final Four team members as well prior to this new wave of talent - the late Brian Gahol, Ogie Gumatay et. al.
@@benjespina The 1997 team was stacked! Mendoza, Gahol (rip), Gumatay, Jenkins Mesina, Jomalesa, Serrano, Rocha, Madarang, Victoria. Too bad Gahol got injured and they weren’t the same team against FEU in the Final Four. Well if they won it all, they won’t be able to lift coach Nic Jorge anyway lol.
I'm a solid fan also for Shell because of Benjie and Ronnie, I always watched their games even in provincial in Pampanga face to face with Benjie and Ronnie, fast forward Kobe Paras hoping nuon sya maka duplicate sa history ng Dabby nya.
5:48 - 6:25 When the announcer started talking about the "dark ages" and started naming the "fallen soldiers", that made me emotional. We got so used to seeing the Maroons losing season after season, now I can say there is indeed light in the end of it all.
Props sa commentators, lakas manghype! Chills dun sa part na minemention nila yung past players ng UP ☝That last shot from Cagulangan was iconic!!! Grabe yung confidence at precision niya! Pagpupugay UP!
Matrapik sa Katipunan kaya i decided to pass by UP para mag wthdraw, i saw a group of students watching the game sa laptop ng isang student...hindi kami magkakilala but we all let go at napasigaw lahat when JD Cagulangan made that three.....congrats UP...
CAGULANGAN Last 3 crucial plays desperation 3 to cut it to 2 Assist to diouf to tie the game HISTORIC GAME WINNING THREE. UP are the undisputed comeback kings!
the journey for this team is incredible. from being an "easy win" "matic 0-14" team for a long time, to a final 4 team, now champions.. man, the dedication is unbelievable. congrats UP 👌👌
I wonder why everyone's crying about this UP championship after 36 years. Then I watched this video, tears welled. UP maroons fan since 1997! UP Fight!
This gives so much comfort!!! Thank You Lord!
Probably the greatest UAAP finals of all time. Professional Defense Clutch shots Clutch Players Thriller moments Changing leads. Belangel being a monster The last clutch 3 plays of Cagulangan.
3 down-the-wire tightly-contested games, 2 going to OT and resulting in epic comeback wins. Lots of memorable plays and clutch shots, including a championship-winning buzzer-beating 3-pointer. DEFINITELY THE BEST UAAP FINALS SERIES EVER.
For me is the best since Mac Belo FEU wins champs ,Gec Chia in 2004 final 4 vs UE , Arwind Santos game winning shot for win championships vs La Salle .
UP’s 13th point in overtime was scored by JD, who wears jersey #13 on a Friday the 13th. Congratulations to UPMBT and the entire UP community for this win!!!❤️
Poetic justice. Its like watching Shohoku beat Kainan at last. Got this sense of satisfaction to see how the perrenial pushovers topple the perrenial favorites, the mighty Ateneo Blue Eagles. For years, we have been the talk of ridicule and much criticism, now we stand as Champions. For Woody Co, Marvin Cruz, Migs De Asis, Martin Reyes, Mike Silungan, Mike Gamboa and the previous UP Squads, victory at last.
Wait. Natalo ba Shohuko ang Kainan? I thought ang natalo is ang Shohuko? 😅 BTW it is amazing that Shohuko beat the sannoh on inter-high. After reigning for years, they were able to defeat the champions 😅 parang UP at Ateneo lang
The undisputed comeback kings of the UAAP. From having 0-14 seasons to breaking a 36 year drought! Congrats sa UP.
Mahabang biyahe pero worth it. Congrats UP !
I remember those days bro, I was an adamsonian in the mid 90's, laging admu, la salle, feu, ust suki ng final 4. Really happy that both schools can compete. Sana adu maka champion na din. Congrats UP
Wow I'm a Spurs fan and that was a great series and great comparison! Powerhouse nga #1 and #2 defensive teams as well as last 2 nba champions. Medyo lopsided for both teams yung game 1-4 pero yung game 5-7 parang ganito nga! Yung overtime game 5 heroics ni Robert Horry parang ginawa ni JD nitong OT game 3!
Congratulations UP, sobrang Ganda ng Laban, sobrang intense, sarap seguro kapag live ka manood.. Congrats to ateneo they had done their best umabot pa ng overtime🏀🔥
Napakagandang series. Congrats to UP!
That step back shot from Cagulangan will always be remembered by the UP community or even the whole UAAP community. Cagulangan just made history. It was a team effort nevertheless Cagulangan was the man for UP. Congratulations, UP. Historic indeed.
Tira niya talaga yun. One of the best finals series ever. Matindi yung game 3. Di mo talaga alam mananalo hanggang dulo.
malakas tlga loob ni cagulangan, nung una ko napanuod laro nito magaling tlga, ngayun lng ulit ako may nagalingnan na point guard sa uaap. after nila cortez at tenorio.
Cansino's game tying shot at the 4Q is the destiny of UP 🥲 pinasok sya ni coach and he delivered. Taas ng pressure kasi lamang Ateneo and nasa kanila talaga momentum nun if not for the team's stellar defense going into overtime. And that OT will go down in history as Cagulangan's high IQ moments 😍 I'll probably watch PBA to see these kids again. Congrats UP Champs!!!
Congrats UP you guys really did well on this game all your efforts paid off, this game made me cry because of joy imagine after 36 yrs they got what they wanted and they deserve it. Congrats cj & and all up players!. love lots up!❤️
What an epic and close fight congratulations to our new defending champs UP fighting maroons. This is one of the best games in UAAP season 84. I am so happy to watch this game
Tapos nag-enroll ako sa Cheerleading PE Class para makapanuod ng live games and also forgetting to get the tickets signed kaya na-5 ako. Hahahaha. Tapos nanunuod ng games noong professional na para marelieve ang stress from work. To frequently meeting with college friends to watch as many games as possible, in anticipation of a good season, and losing the games but never losing the belief that one day UP will win the championship. How could we not cry over this game?
Si Balti ng DLSU mag-Japan, while si Ricci may be going to T1 Taiwanese League.
Congrats Fighting Maroons!!!
Still gives me the goosebumps. Hahahaha.
Can't stop watching this! Congratulations UP!!! I prayed that if it's God will na sila ang magchampion then sa kanila nga yun, well it is indeed! Thank You Lord 🙏❤❤❤
[5:10] What a 3-point clutch shot performance. UP survive for the champion in 36 years. Friday the 13th + UP Jersey #13 (JD Cagulangan) with 13 points = first-time champion (with a 3-point clutch shot). "Utak, Puso!"
not only did UP win this game they finished it spectacularly and memorably!! 3-point shoot with 0.5 time left is hella impressive! still remember how surprised me and my whole fam was when we watched this live at home amazing game by both teams!!
UP Fighting Maroons deserve it! 🏆 About time that another team becomes the champion. Heroes for me are Cagulangan (buzzer beater), Cansino (3-point shot to tie for OT) and Diouf (screen for Cagulangan's winning shot).
The same pick and roll play by cagulangan and diouf in the last 2 possessions was brilliant! First Diouf rolled and left Kouame for the open slam dunk. With this on his mind, he chooses to keep Diouf again in check leaving a wide open 3 for cagulangan for the Championship!
grabe na kumpyansa nung Diouf kaya ng makipag sabayan sa import ng ateneo. iba rin yung leadership at focus nung cagulangan. matured point guard who took over the game.
Grabe UPMBT yung path nyo to end the 36 year drought puro cardiac aatikihin kami eh - Ends Ateneo 4 year 39 game winning streak - Miracle comeback from 14 behind in 4 minutes vs la salle in the do or die - Down the wire all 3 Final Games
The last time UP won a championship was the year Ferdinand Marcos was ousted on his presidency via peoples power and now that BBM is about to be our president, its the time for UP to win the championship. What a game, its destiny.
Dang... We actually won it all. I had a lump in my throat when they started sounding off the names of the former Maroons, especially when they got to "...for Paolo Mendoza..."
Sobrang lucky break ng UP: Paras decides to play there... LaSalle broke up their core which allowed Ricci Rivero to go there and after another core breakup, UST had to let go of Cansino. Talk about lucky.
Live ko to napanuod at siempre ibang POV. LOL.
I am a UP graduate who was a transferee from UE Manila. Back when I was in UE, they always take pride in always entering final four of UAAP. This was in 2009. UP, on the other hand, took pride in academics. Even making a joke out of being always in last place at UAAP Men's basketball. Now, UP was a crowd favorite entering UAAP season 84 in Men's basketball. They had a twice-to-beat advantage at one point. UE on the other hand occupied the space UP left. 14 losses and no wins. UE lost everything. I have mixed emotions on this game.
cagulangan turned into reggie miller in that game with his timely clutch 3s. and thats where u can say that david slayed goliath. congrats to UP. they really deserved to win the title.
I'm not an Isko of UP, but a basketball fan, UP's campaign way back 2005-06 when I started watching UAAP, its either 0-14, 1-14, 2-14, and 3-14, which they can only beat NU, UE, and ADU, this was a SWEET DESTINED VICTORY for the whole UP community 🏆
I just realized yesterday was May 13, 2021, which btw is Friday the 13th, and no. 13 jersey ni JD Cagulangan who finished the 36 year title drought ng UP, wow what a coincidence🤔😳, destined perhapss
