LETITIA! I was just thinking about you because I came across a reel of yours and thought "Hey...I wonder how her kitchen is doing?" And then I saw you didn't upload for months and was scared we'd never get to see the finished product. But GIRL! You delivered! Great job renovating, and it's so admirable how much of this you did by yourself as a first-timer. Excited to see more projects on the channel :)
SOO proud of you!! You did that - and killed it! Can't believe the growth from when you started to how you finished - AND NOW SHE'S GOIN BACK TO SCHOOL
Stef's advice on perfection issue is giod advice. I use pellet wood and don't have all the tools and can't get things showroom looking. As long as my need of the diy is dealt with. Workshop build, cant wait to see. I will hopefully be doing one myself in summer.
I've been looking forward to this video for such a long time, let me just pop a bottle of champagne 🍾😁 to celebrate the occasion. 🥂 Now, on to the rest of the video 😇😁😊👍👍👍❤️
my heart feels so warm and I feel so seen after watching this video because this is literally me with my husband right now remaking my kitchen myself, all the details and mistakes and frustration, oh my god! Even how Stefan reacts its so similar hahaha its so funny to watch ( not funny at all when I´m in that exact situation tho) but it looks great Letitia!!!!! hopefully ill be finishing mine by this christmas being realistic hahahahha
woe this came out so special!!! love all the personal special touches like the grout color! So excited for your carpentry journey and the possible videos that might come out of it, so ready for woodworking letita
LETITIA I AM SO PROUD OF YOU!!! Also your patience and determination is an inspiration… truly the opposite of how I’d handle things. Also Stefan’s encouragement is so precious 🥹 can’t wait to see more and the workshop!!!!
You’re so good Letitia! You should be so proud. It’s so good you show all the angst and long duration of these projects. Seeing the two day projects so often is discouraging. I feel better that I’m not the only one to start a big project then gets big project anxiety and it’s kinda done enough to use but not done completely that takes ages. This is so real. I’m so proud of you. Appreciate that you still edit videos and publish them amongst it all. It’s so much work!
If we'd just protected those areas we wouldn't have to clean up this much - famous last words! It's giving me flashbacks to when we painted our house and didn't bother putting drop sheets on the tiles and then spent half a day cleaning paint of tiles (FYI vinegar works so much better than paint stripper or mineral turpentine!). Lessons learned but you've also done an amazing job!!
You are amazing, and I love the finished look. I love the way you and Stef work together, and OMG I can't wait to see your carpentry projects. Go! Go! Go!
Letitia! This looks amazing! I’ve been waiting to see it and it did not disappoint. BUT, I don’t want to be that person but I do feel this is important - pleeeeeease never wear gloves with a table saw! I like you with two hands! 💜
@@letitiakiu believe me, I still have a very healthy fear of my tablesaw! The biggest risk is the fabric getting caught in the sawblade and pulling your hand into it, and it can happen very quickly. My dad told me a story about a guy in his shop class in high school, and it was enough for me lol. Like I said, I don’t want to be that person but that tool specifically can be so dangerous. I’m so excited you loved it enough to go back and learn more though! I’m self/dad taught to this point and would love some more formal education.
It looks so good! I was so unsure about the grout when you made that video, but seeing it all together in this one. I love it!! It's also nice to see a realistic timeline for your renovation series. House stuff always takes forever, so I liked seeing your videos in this series spread over a few months
Woohoo!!! Good job and congrats!! Love the final result 👌🏼 Loved how you hold the shelf with your head 😂 Also love sweet and supportive Stefan ❤️ And finally congrats on going back to school for carpentry 👏🏼👏🏼
"that's not a hint!" XDDD omg it looks amazing mui, great job!!! so proud of you and you should be really proud of yourself. i look forward to seeing/hearing about your carpentry program and projects!
Sand the mitered edges with 140 grit, fill mitered edges with wood putty/filler for pine. Sand smooth with 400 grit. Apply pre-stain wood conditioner because pine is a soft wood. It will bring out the natural grain a bit and make the stain absorb more evenly. Then apply your stain and apply sealer/poly. I know it's too late, but maybe for next time :) Kitchen looks beautiful btw.
No amount of sanding would've closed some of those gaps haha. But yes gel stain was what saved it! I was going to go wood conditioner route but apparently gel stain doesn't need it?? Not sure. Thank you for the tips!
When closing a mitre joint that isn't quite perfect, running a screwdriver shaft lengthwise along the edge will close that gap. I've seen both Frills n Drills and Angela Home do it on their instagram. It'll dull the edge of the mitre (making it not as sharp) but it will be closed so you can't see daylight.
@@letitiakiu damn! Mitres are so hard though and sometimes it's not even your fault, it's the tools you're using. I recommend blaming the tools you're using 😉
This came out amazing! And I'll be so curious to know more about the carpentry program you're taking! I actually built myself a 8'x12' she shed in my backyard this summer. I did everything except the electrical myself and also fell in love with the woodworking 😀
this was such a huge undertaking!! so proud of how you've persisted through all the challenges you've faced along the way and the skills you've learned! and the kitchen looks so beautiful!!!!
I'm so impressed with all the hard work you guys put in. I grew up with power tools and it's so frustrating to see youtubers who just rush poor quality projects out for the sake of content. Quality takes time, and it is so nice to watch a video that actually educates and shows how to do things the right and lasting way
Looks AMAZING! I hope you are so so proud of all you accomplished. Congrats on going back to school!! If I were to go into something totally different, I think carpentry would also be it.
Is the grout supposed to match her eyebrows? The part of the kitchen that is done feels much better. I actually detest open shelves in reality because they just create extra work. Open shelves are like a weekly chore whereas you can get away with cleaning the interior of your cabinets once a season. But in this reno the open shelves have really lightened up the mood of the kitchen. Before the space felt oppressive. I like the cabinet color too.
Haha it's within similar tonal range. I agree I am really not an open kitchen shelving kind of person, i'm so messy! Just a couple to keep the kitchen feeling roomy but otherwise, cabinets allllll the way
Good job! Proud of you! Never thought that you have transformed to this stage. Keep it up. You may find the video with this link useful when you continue to further develop your woodworking skills: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-owng8yV4ySI.html.
I know it’s not an option, but for the grout colour it would be so cool if you did a vibrant colour! Like yellow!! There someone on RU-vid (Letitia Kiu) who is documenting their kitchen Reno and she made a custom colour of pinkish red for her white tiles that was so vibrant and interesting!!
Hi letitia! So happy to see a vid from you ^_^ very cool that you’re going to be learning about this stuff in school since clearly you have a knack for diy’ing. And ive told you before but WOW you really took this huge project on and its looking amazing!!! Hopefully you guys are having a great summer and cant wait to keep up with your future projects girl! 🌸 ☁️ ☀️
