Me wanting Doom lore but having my suspension of disbelief shattered by massive glowing brightly colored pick ups: I want that "Doom universe", that what I'm here for.

That is a splendid tutorial. It establishes 3 vital things: 1: The game has guns. 2: Your character can handle said guns. 3: Everything that moves can die.
Doom 1: A soldier who fights at the front line, where everyone else has fallen Doom 3: A survivor Doom 2016 and Eternal: A demigod, who's entire purpose is to slaughter demons
@@Marcus01285 He's definitely not the same "guy" across the games. While it's still being debated whether it's the same Doom Guy from Doom 1 and 2, Doom Slayer from 2016 is most definitely *not* the marine from Doom 3
You gotta love that DoomGuy has his own space station and likely his while arsenal from the previous game... but he's still gonna start out with the standard combat shotgun, just to give the demons a sporting chance!
Would love the concept of Doom Eternal levels designed around jumping between demonic armada ships (again city sized), wrecking havoc. Moments in Titanfall 2's campaign.
Doom 2016 actually did it better. You just get the chainsaw and a prompt telling you what button to press to use it. That's it. Not sure why they thought a tutorial was necessary this time around. Reminds me of the RAGA2, Ark tutorials to be honest.
Yeah dedicated tutorials are trash. Worse yet is they seem to be a copycat of Rage 2's, almost like a holdover of sorts. That's nothing short of a cardinal sin in a Doom title. At least you can toggle them off in the gameplay submenu so that's a major mercy.

Imagine having a planetary invasion with billions of monster thwarted by a dude with huge muscles, amazing armor, his own space station, an entire arsenal of weapons he decides not to use and really strong hands

I hope it's actually minutes 5 - 15, because the game just jumps right into it in a way that the first Doom did not. "Demonic Invasion in Progress" and the armor shrine are critical to everything that follows.
Vega: "I have calculated the Hell priest's exact location and will teleport you-" Doomguy: *Glares* Vega: *sighs* "You want me to teleport you far away from the priest so you can kill more demons along the way, don't you?" @Deizor The Omnislayer He was in Doom 2016.. Vega is supposed to be the guid in eternal but for example in fortnite stw some of the companions/guides are annoying.

@Frax I'm sorry, but was the guy from Doom 3 powerful enough to slay a Titan without any armor and send demons back to Hell from Mars with a shotgun, BFG, chainsaw and more? I don't think so!
@Frax doomslayer practically made all the demons his b*tch before he got blessed by the seraphim and received the praetor suit from the wretch, he slaughtered so many that they called gave him own title, and at that point he had no super strength, no super speed, no guns, no praetor suit, literally just a sword and a shield.
I do like that with all the serious tones of the game, there are still some little silly moments as well, like getting headshots will cause a toonish popping noise. Or after decapitating the priest, the doomguy fixes his crown. Even the secret collectables are funny, being little toy figures of enemies.
Here's another nice touch; in the last game, when he found an drone with a weapon mod, doomguy would punch it to get the upgrade. But if you look closely you'll see the the drones in this game are operated by VEGA, so doomguy's a little more delicate this time.
I can totally see the intro sequence with the monologue accompanying the Slayer's mark being synonymous with the beginning of every Doom like how Star Wars has their intro crawl.

@@Terminate1783 By level 2 of 2016 you could get the pistol, shotgun, asssault rifle, plasma gun, chainsaw, grenades, and I think up to two weapon mods. iirc, anyway. And Eternal doesn't have a pistol, so I assume they give you the chainsaw so early so you won't run out of ammo. Also hence the first fuel cell for the chainsaw regenerates in Eternal.
You realize he realigned the crown so the last dying moments of the priest would be nothing but the doom guy, your severed head stays conscious for a few moments after beheading ...He takes such joy in making them suffer even a little bit more
@daine333 He does it for both reasons. He takes joy in it and he also does it to save humanity. Which is cool cause it makes his motivations more one dimensional. More interesting that way
Love how animated the hell priests looks when he first sees the doomslayer. Apparently, it was the hell priests who sealed the slayer before the events of doom 2016. What an intro👌

I’m glad that while there’s a huge story with cutscenes and other characters, I’m glad you can just start the game by mowing down demons and getting started. But I am eager to know the connection between the start of eternal and the end of DOOM 2016.
Under Current Yeah and we see that we start out already having Vega. I know The Slayer backed him up but we aren’t gunna see the aftermath? I’m assuming they’ll clue us in as we progress through the game. If that’s the case I’m fine starting where it is. It looks like we don’t start immediately where the last one takes off.
Mike Anthony I think they’re trying to go for that too in some capacity. There seems to be more story but it picks up in odd places. We don’t get the full story.

Doom eternal takes place 1-5 years after doom 2016, during that time doomguy was stuck on Mars, after that he somehow found a way off and realized earth was f*!?&d and that's where eternal picks up This leads to his decision to try and help the humans or something like that
It's incredible honestly, because While this is technically """spoilers"""" in a ways it isn't because everything shown so far was shown in that #2 trailer. So when you think about it the real "meat and potatoes" of the game is still hidden.
Captain Gr00vy Besides, we deduced from the gameplay that since you’re hunting Ranak in the third level, Nilox must have been killed within the first two. Didn’t expect Nilox to have been killed within the first 6 minutes of gameplay, though! So this is not really all that big of a surprise or spoil for me.

My only criticism is that they placed the sound of the slayer pumping that shotgun midscene instead of the end... Somehow it seams a little less satisfying. But minor quibbles aside... I can not wait to get my hands on this game
Yeah they are gane testers, the test out games to see how movements work, graphics work, if they see a problem they state ot out to the coders and art designers of the games
Doom 2016 ended on a cliffhanger. The Doomslayer was sent somewhere after Samuel Hayden took the crucible from him. Will that be incorporated somewhere in the middle of this story?

Considering the default weapon now is Combat Shotgun not Pistol with unlimited ammo which can you use when you are low at ammo in Doom 2016, this is totally understandable..
@@operator1338 It went from game journalist to average, the gap is still huge tho. It's not speedrunner pace tho, look up 'UN nightmare 100%' for that level.
I am happy that Vega is back. Despite being just an AI I enjoyed it/his "company" during D16. It almost feel like he's second entity after DoomSlayerKING that cares about earth. Probably thats why DoomSlayer made a backup before. I CAN'T WAIT FOR MARCH... Please stop uploading more Doom Eternal content as I want to experience 100% on my own :)
