It sounds anti-climatic. For that, I think the phone operator is required to do her job in her calmest manner possible while respecting the gravity of the subsequent conversation exchanges by preeminent heads of government.
@@pepelepew2690 Ok? Why don`t they just get a new cat? And where are your sources from that they clone cats in the UK? I have never heard of that before. I think that`s fake news.
Didn't vote Labour, but the speech he gave outside No 10 filled me with a sense of hope in politics that I've not felt in many years. I hope he does a good job.
There’s been a lot of pointless unfounded fear-mongering amongst the Tories against Labour because they knew they would lose and they behaved abhorrently. I wish our new Prime Minister and his Cabinet the best of luck in their endeavour to recover the UK from the absolute mess caused by the Tories.
So grateful. The Prime Ministers first news conference on Saturday hit the spot. Grounded, fact based, and rooted in tangible reality. What a relief, I can tell you. And no lies.
when things don't go to plan then you'll start getting the lies. As the Americans say no President has told the truth since Harry Truman (president nearly 80 years ago).
You know what I've been very on the fence (and still am) about him. He just doesn't seem to represent what I personally believe to be labour values. Saturdays news conference however made me hopeful.
In Politics, change is the essential asset of a vibrant democracy. If anyone clings to power for years, it shows that something bad is happening inside. Happy to see the change and hoping it will be a positive one.
Never had the sense that a politician would clean up the swamp. But after the past 14 years of wasted management, this team gives me hope. I don't see anyone quite as slimy as the Tory party was full of.
Wasn't the 2008 economic crash is a global crisis and not a British one and therefore it's beyond the control of the British government? People have wrong memories it seems
This was awesome. I'm an ex-Tory voter who swung behind labour. I'm feeling optimistic and hopeful about our country for the first time in a while. I hope they do well!
You know what, it finally feels like we have an adult in place who genuinely wants his legacy to be that he was a great leader and helped as many people as he could. Or to quote M, “I shall use my time.”
I mean just looking through the comments on this everyone seems to be wishing him the best and are genuinely optimistic. But years of mistrust can't be fixed overnight, the poor decisions of the last Labour government are still fresh in many peoples minds.
I voted Labour and I wish him all the best for his new role. The country needed a change. Good luck Prime Minister. May your decisions be well thought through and wise.
Hugely disappointed SNP voter here, i wish labour well in turning around the complete shambles the tories left. Just wish he had a better policy for the Palestinians
What else can he do? He can’t stop the war and it isnt going to end anytime soon. What would a better policy be exactly? He can’t welcome refugees for the simple fact it would be political suicide early on in his tenor.
Curious to know what you think would be a better policy, or if you'd support denying Ukraine any weapons if they started massively winning against the Russians. I don't see much of a difference between the two. Only that, they will eventually be at peace, where as Isreal and the Arabs never will never be at peace, as they're both set on partaking in an ancient jihad of extermination.
Not a Labour supporter myself (Green Party), but I really hope Starmer can enact some desperately needed radical changes in order to avoid the far-right populist Reform from using the lack of change to get into government, as we have seen happen in France and Germany. Aside from that, really interesting video to watch and good job to the team behind the making of this!
both those countries have only themselves to blame by imposing carbon taxes on the people. In your green tinged mist, the likes of you treehuggers fail to see that all it becomes is a tax on the poor. And you wonder why they hate the Green parties in Europe? I bet you environmentalists are all spoiled brats who have never done an honest day's work in your lives!
We've more chance of a Labour-Lib Dem coalition than Reform ever getting in. Actually, it's fantastic how Farage is splitting the right; the issue has always been us having one big behemoth conservative party.
Is it just me, or does the country, all of a sudden, feel like a more stable, enjoyable place to live? Yes, there's a long way to go, but finally we have someone in charge who has the country's best interests at heart.
they should PROVE themselves WORTHY OF BEING BRITISH by COMPLAINING about the MIGRANTS!!! DAMN MIGRANTS COMING OVER HERE, COMPLAINING ABOUT THE MIGRANTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't understand what people's beef is with Keir Starmer being a "boring" PM. We've had eccentricity, we've had radical economic policy, neither have stood the test of time. I didn't vote for him, but I'm glad that we at least seem to have a bit of stability so maybe the PM can focus on running the country rather than wrangling internal party factions.
Right.. only time will tell. Also Larry the cat is the only one who doesn't mess up and knows how to run the place, hope he keeps his appointment as Chief Mouser.
he's actually quite bad at catching mice. The other cat that George Osborne brought in who was Larry's (he was brought in by Dave Cameron) companion was a former stray cat and sometimes caught 4 mice in a week.
Maybe a little petty and I say this as a Welshman, but you should also be handing out English flags. We should be proud of this great country, the Union and every nation in it ✌️ 🇬🇧🏴🏴🏴🇬🇧
I have a cautious sense of optimism that this new Government will bring a sense of balance, equity, fairness, and equality back to British public life.
Oh please. If Labour wanted to address equality do you not suppose Blair or Brown would have done it. And on balance they need to offer more than balance. They received 33.7% of the vote which is not a mandate when you realise they significantly underperformed polls, and benefitted from a divided conservative vote.
@@inoscopedjfk8207 they must have said the same of the likes of Trudeau when he entered office 10 years ago, now Canadians want the next general election as soon as possible to give him the boot.
Congratulations to Labour. As a young voter myself who had voted labour for my first ever general election, no matter how many haters there are against him, i will have hope for the labour government i was born in. Keir is a nice guy like loads of people.
Hallelujah!!!! The daily jesus devotional has been a huge part of my transformation, God is good 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻was owning a loan of $47,000 to the bank for my son's brain surgery (David), Now I'm no longer in debt after I invested $8,000 and got my payout of $270,500 every months,God bless Christy Fiore 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸..
I've always wanted to be involved for a long time but the volatility in the price has been very confusing to me. Although I have watched a lot of RU-vid videos about it but I still find it hard to understand
Who edited this?!? It’s amazing and the music choice is awesome! Whoever did this knows how to take something boring and make it seem electrifying 👊🏼👏🏼
Great video. Loved the behind the scenes aspect. My only suggestion - because I know these comments are being monitored - is to keep that Day 1 thinking. Don't allow this to become stale.
@@sukotu23well it depends. Starmer received 33.7% of the vote meaning he was never liked and still isn’t liked among the electorate. He took advantage of a divided conservative vote which won’t be divided for too long if Badenoch becomes leader, plus tactical voting helped. If he starts to sink in popularity which wouldn’t be a shock considering his level of unpopularity anyway, plus if he doesn’t solve the problems of the day he’ll be blamed for not solving them and thus votes of no confidence will go in. This is Labour after all who forced out Blair.
On 4th July, the people of the UK opted for change. They believe Labour is that change, a vessel to steer and drive us in the right direction. The easy part (up until 4th) is over with and so begins the new governments journey of implementing and installing change into the system, on behalf of and for the people. That gift of power is on loan to them and Labour has a very difficult job ahead, as you need to earn and keep our trust, respect as well as listening and reacting to our words and movements. Change isn’t a 1D object, a planet without a Sun or a single sided coin (two heads or two tails). Change can be good or bad. It’s now finally time for Labour to put its money where its mouth is. Actions not words. Proactive not reactive. To act in the best interest of us and deliver true change that’s meaningful for us now and in the future.
@@joshpalmer3754 Not how the voting system works. FPTP was voted to stay as a voting system in 2011 by the people of the UK. 20% of the country voted for them because the voter turnout (the actual people who voted in total) was 60%, the lowest since 2001 with 59.4% and 1918 with 57.2%. Labour's votes was overall 9,660,081, or 33.9% of people who could vote and DID vote, voted for them. Again, FPTP was chosen to remain literally through a referendum, xD
@@ThatKermitGuy So Labour got 38,000 votes per seat. Reform 82,000 votes per seat. 80% of the Country did not vote Labour. In reality they got just over 50% of Reforms 4,000,000 votes. First Past the Post has now been Exposed as a Rigged System. Ok people voted in a Referendum. But people also Voted Tory. If it Wasnt Explained so People actually Understanded the Implications it might have been a different outcome. Like i said its Now Been Exposed.
This new Prime Minister actually gives me hope. (This is directed to the people who said that he was "boring" and that he "does not inspire"; you were wrong.)
From the U.S but I wish him the best of luck -- I want to see the UK as a global leader and that starts with fixing their domestic issues such as inflation, cost of living, etc.
@@keithframe3489 Nope I voted Workers Party GB. However I do have sympathy for those who voted Workers Party GB or Reform UK or Liberal Democrats or The Greens. All sides must be listened to- immigration is needed at carehomes However the pace of immigration is too fast and the numbers aren't sustainable and also climate change is real and is happening a very cold day for July 2024 and also The Tories sent people to foodbanks thus meaning I couldn't ever support them again.
Hey, friendly question here. I’m Canadian and am wondering how come there’s no transitional period between administrations in the UK? Here it’s a roughly 2 week lag between the election of a new parliament/prime minister and the time that they formally take office, and in the US it’s something like 2 1/2 months. Why so quick for you guys?
