Just like the other "dedicated" video you guys did for the S72 this one also sets a new level for this Merc game. We've seen nice Mercedes here and there but nobody really showed these cars like you as Vico said in one of your videos. Insane knowledge about the rarest cars and this whole palm tree/ florida background gives a whole different vibe to it. I'm watching every one of your videos religiously. Patina quality this time again. As a multiple Mercedes owner myself I want to thank you guys in the name of the community for this type of work. We've seen channels , trends come and go in 5 years but I really wish you guys success and longevity. Real humble dudes always react to comments and keep the contact with the fans. I really hope I can visit you guys in the museum one day ! Shout out from Europe !

Amazing episode, great format - lots of research and editing went into it. Really enjoyed the story, this car has such a interesting history - It is likely one of the very first if not the first AMG G wagons brought to the USA. Imagine all the people that we're influenced by it from 1984-93 when Ivan & Warren drove around the country in it. Lovely car, great people, its a piece of history.

what a great documentary. My father purchased a land-mine damaged military G-Wagen in 1982 from the British Army having been to the Falklands. He brought it back to the UK to restore it before shipping it out to the USA when he moved to Indiana in 1984. It followed him to Michigan where he sold it to a friend and collector of military vehicles. Years later he bought it back when he moved to California where it stayed until around ten years ago when he sold it to a Canadian Film vehicle Company. I remember visiting Michigan as a kid in the late 80's and nobody knowing what it was, or presuming it was a modified Defender! So unusual, especially being LWB rag top with riffle racks!

Epic Video!! - production is next level and exactly how we the car enthusiasts love a good story behind each cars individual history and especially when the past owners come on board & Hartmut himself from AMG's pre-merger days contributes. Even the story teller's voice & music choice etc is fitting in so perfectly with how doco's were produced in the 80's by the likes of Mercedes etc - you guys have nailed it - well done!!!

Love the w116 headlights, maybe with w123 would be good too, as they are taller and a bit narrower so a wider grille could fit, as a V8 that it just needs would keep cool

What a story this car have , from ivan to a passionate Mercedes guy that used it was supposed to for many years and now to these guys that Will display the car for thpusands of people that Will see it in the museum. I can totally see why the last owner decided to let the car go,cant think of Anyone better to buy it

Have you tried to contact Kurt Pflugfelder? Today he must be in his late 70s/early 80s but AFAIK he was the mastermind behind all the special G-Wagen projects at AMG like the Sheik cars, Hotel Ritz Paris, V8 W460s, GON cars, XLs and XXLs, G63 V12 etc., etc. … I still have his home address in a small village near Affalterbach :)
dang dude i had no idea it had cse's!!!!!!! i saw it on your first video. i saw it o garage90x, youngtimers and other that showed the patina collective on video. im a OG fan. its so weird to see the recaros but a stock steering wheel. so often its vice versa. what a killer video. the classic footage of the sgs and all 6 other g's. fuckin epic. cheers
No way haha crazy to hear Ivans name. He lives here in vero beach Florida in an ultra exclusive community called Windsor, my parents did the interior design of his home. A nice family
