Its true. I'm from the UK but lived half my life over in the US. There are corporate raiders over here who've been salivating at the idea of doing just that . They see it as a plum prize, ripe for overtake. Healthcare over here is a nightmare, expensive and highly, highly ineffective.

And what a disaster the U.S. ‘health system’ is! I have dual-citizenship (CE/USA) and how I wished we had universal healthcare in the USA, for everyone’s well being…

It’s not the same, unskilled young men working as delivery drivers for minimum wage doesn’t benefit our society, the numbers competing for housing our any other infrastructure is a drain. Of course the average LBC listener will believe diversity is a strength, they are all Dr’s and engineers, there’s loads of room in city centres ( just not where we live )

@@KateWandless The elderly could not live without deliveries. Delivery drivers permit them to stay in their own homes, rather than having to go into a care home. It is entirely false to talk down delivery drivers as unnecessary and a drain on resources. They are a huge benefit for our rapidly aging population. Open your eyes! If they weren't needed, these jobs would not be there. And their taxes could and should have been used for delivering infra structure. But you prefer to blame them, rather than the government, who does not use their taxes to provide the infra structure. Coming back to the elderly, the government has not provided for enough care homes and care home staff either. So staying at home is now often a necessity for the aging population, as it is the cheapest option in the round. You are not thinking this one through and you are blaming the wrong set of society to boot!

@@MrsGardiner The delivery drivers are delivering macdonalds to fat people, they aren’t bringing shopping to the elderly. It’s jobs that never existed and aren’t really needed, just making us unhealthier as a nation whilst bringing our infrastructure to braking point

Indeed. And as the UK has diversified and goodness knows what further diversification will happen with the bonfire of EU laws in January. We don't know what is going to change then or whether the EU will see these are significant diversification. If Britain plans to get out of the ECHR or worsens worker's rights all bets are off. There could be extra tariffs levied, where there were none when the TCA was signed. The review is necessary to maintain the level playing field and to stop Britain undercutting the Single Market. It is not an opportunity for Britain to negotiate something better while actively attempting to undercut the Single Market. Britain is now a competitor to the EU, no longer a friend who can ask for favours.

I have dual nationality and an Irish passport and have not renewed my UK one in disgust at the endless escalating impact of Brexit and the misery it has caused and continues to cause for so many people.

Do not mistake ineptitude for calculation. Those who apparently are so inept are incredibly able to do things that are in their own interests. Do not excuse anything as a mistake or ineptitude, that is actually a calculated step towards their aim to destroy the NHS. Look at how Johnson carefully cultivated the persona of the bumbling, friendly burbling mate including getting everybody to call him by his first name, but he knew exactly what he wanted and got it. No they really are not hopelessly inept, you just haven't seen where they are going with this. Or you find it difficult to believe.

It's a necessity to hasten the decline in order to promote the idea to the UK populace that the NHS no longer works and the only way to save it is to have it run by companies. It will all seem very civilised and the people will lap up being able to get a timely GP appointment and shorter operation waiting times. Not until it is far too late will the once free NHS services begin costing people's homes and health cost bankruptcies will become the norm.

Lol mate I've been going to Pakistan for private healthcare for years. They do more for me in a week than the NHS does in a year. Half the best British docs are British Indian/Pakistani...... the doctors there are amazing, speak perfect English, equipment is the same ad the NHS, and it costs pennies
