i got into computer science and engineering. My college is starting soon. Is Cse any different than cs?

@@grind1968 Hey, as i only study one of both i can't give a completely precise answer but tell you what i think are some differences from reading up a bit. Studying computer science one will gain some basic skills like: programming, mathematical foundations in discrete maths, linear algebra, analysis, statistics and maybe a bit numerical analysis, data structures, certain algorithms, computer networks and architectures, the software engineering process containing planning, implementation, trouble shooting on the software level etc.. Cse, as i think differs in the fact, that it contains more and is focused a little bit more on applied maths. You will also gain nearly the same basic skills as if you were a cs major but instead of focusing on the software engineering process, computer architectures and computer networks, understanding compilers and so on, i think you will focus more on simulations for science and engineering purposes. This will for example lead you to studying more numerical analysis, efficient algorithms for these purposes, maybe even suited hardware and so on. As you know, i am majoring in cs but were quite unconstrained in choosing courses. I personally took many courses with topics like simulation of certain phenomenas or modelling etc. and can only wish you much fun(!), as from my perspective it must be a really interesting major you have chosen :)
