MORE INFO: So i've been looking into the vaults more and i've come to the conclusion that not all of them spawn each time. Through testing in Vespers, I found a potential for 10 amongst the ruins area, but I never got all 10 at the same time (fast traveled out and came back). So it seems like they're random spawns, while the green holograms remain static whether a vault spawns or not. So if you're not hearing an audio tone for one near a marker, just move on. There's a good chance either (1) someone got it before you and it has reset yet, or more likely (2) it never spawned in to begin with this time.
In Sterile Lands, you'll start to see little Green Holograms around. Use the Ecive button and follow the audio cues to the person looking coffin thing otherwise known as Encrypted Vaults. The vaults are there regardless of whether you see a green hologram. The holograms are just notifications that there might be one near by.
Edit: Also, i've noticed that if someone gets to a vault ahead of you and it hasn't respawned back in yet, you won't get an audio cue.

I've done more testing and i've come to the conclusion that not all vaults spawn every time, however the green hologram markers for them do. So while you might see a green hologram, there's no guarantee that there will be a vault nearby.

I knew they meant one was near, but I didn’t even think about using R3 to scan for a sound. Actually saved me tons of time 🎉

I didn't say it in the video because idk at the time, but they don't all spawn in every time. So just because you see a green hologram doesn't mean there actually is a vault there everytime. If you don't hear an audio cue after doing a 360, check for a different one.

I've seen the holograms before and tried too use R3, but I guess because I didn't have an analyzer nothing happened.

When someone succesfully opens one they disappear. So my working theory for that is that someone got there ahead of you. Idk the respwawn rate but its more than 15 min.

My problem is I found two different holograms and I’ve done multiple 360s and still no change in tone. It’s almost like they’re not working.

They dont spawn everytime. Ive gone through now and made posts on my website for what ive found and ive done a dozen checks on some before they spawn in. Rule of thumb, if you do a 360 and no ping, go for the next one.

Sry... but that´s not true... there are markes yes. But they are not for Scanning... You can run around and scan everywhere. Vaults have a fix Position. No one rly know for now what they are.

If course people can scan whenever they want. The holograms are to let people know that potentially theres a vault nearby if it spawned. They dont always spawn in. That way people dont have to just spam scan all the time. I have maps in the description with vaults that match up with every hologram ive found.

I just put two and two together yesterday actually regarding these and no audio cue. I do know that when you complete a vault it disappears. I'm thinking it's entirely possible that if we don't get the audio cue, that maybe someone got to the vault before us. Idk how long it takes them to respawn, but it's not right away. Maybe try another one or try back later.

Of course you can get the sounds regardless. I know I didn't say you didn't. The hologram is just a notice that there's one nearby since people don't tend to hit their ecive every 10 seconds unless there's a reason to. The hologram gives them a reason.
