Great video Mike. Lets hope the snow stays away. I can remember going to a spring gala many years ago and saw snow. I see a number of volunteers on your video who I remember from my visits. They have been there for many years.
Love the video! 6990 Witherslack Hall seems to be a popular loco from the GCR - it's been to a few railways since completing its overhaul in 2015. Great to see two Modified Halls in operation on the same line!
Some great footage of 1450 leaving wachet station I hope to see it back up and running in the near future! Thankyou to Mike Little for loaning the engine to the West Somerset Railway on the spring gala 2018 I’ll look forward to ride behind 1450 again.
Some of our best loco designs have been really spoilt by feeble whistles! British locos have never thought bells were necessary unless a train is running through a town's streets like in Weymouth where they did have one.. Generally people don't get as close to the rails as over on your side of the ocean.
watched the web cams last night same time you were filming.. seen 7714 at bishops lydeard at 9.50then you filmed it at watchet later .. nice we train i had not seen it before
Hi Mike - nice vid - I have added this to Latest videos on the unofficial website. And thanks for showing the Minehead webcam page (and the nice view of the website address - all publicity is welcomed!) which gives me a good look at how that page looks like on a phone. No plans at the moment for another webcam at Minehead but you never know ;)
Those webcams are so entertaining and helpful. The more the merrier! Now that Watchet has at last got Fibre Optic broadband it should now be possible to get one operational at Watchet.
Loved the American loco on your WSR..and a GCR loco too..you must come up to leicester one day mike and do some filming..Anyway keep up the great work...spring is nearly here..cheers Richard
FANTASTIC! I thought there would be something from the first day and guess who supplied it yes Sir Mike Dann! The opening is so reminiscent of the opening video of the epic 2015 Diesel Gala series remember Val at the computer and the chicken the first Admiral Scorner vid I ever saw! NEWSFLASH: SECURITY FORCES MOVE INTO POSITION RUMOURS THAT SOME PERSONNEL WERE ON MILITARY TRAIN CLOUSEAU: WE ARE READY TO DEAL WITH MONSIEUR CROOK CLOUSEAU'S ASSISTANT GENDARME: SI!
Mike I've just seen the news sad to hear about the French police officer who died of injuries during supermarket siege don't think any Clouseau jokes would be in good taste at the moment...
Thanks for that reminder to pray. I am always particularly sensitive to murders of police officers it started when I saw a film called "Heaven's Hero" made by a Christian film company called Mark IV Productions based on a real life incident that took place in the States in 1977. (NOTE: If any friends or family of this man are reading these comments, I do not mean any offence at all. Let me go further; if you are still grieving for this man, I for one would love to pray for you. Yours sincerely David J .Crook.)
Great video as allways Mike ..have you any Idea what USA S160 2-8-0 no 6046 duties are tomorow Friday 23rd ? as looking at the timetable I can't make out if it's doing the military goods train only ? ...I'm coming tomorow to see this loco in particular and so was trying to find out what it would be doing and were ..any advice would be great I understand if you don't know either ... Thanks Tom
As I understand the timetable there are no guarantees that it will be doing the same train every day. I am taking a gamble by going into Minehead early enough today hoping to see the American take out the Military train like yesterday.
It failed with Drain Cocks that fell off.... in Williton last Night .7714 hauled it back to Minehead....Hopefully it will have been fixed overnight for Todays services...
