IMO, it would make the most sense if the Annunaki were from another civilization, now lost to time, who migrated to what would become Sumeria and brought their knowledge with them. That's interesting. In some theology, it was the fallen angels who taught man about fire, mechanics, and other things. Angels. Similar religious beliefs in various cultures since then, too.
