With Marios voice, seeing how this might be an origin story and Mario is just a normal guy thrown into the mushroom kingdom, his voice fits pretty good
It’s kind of a call back to the Super Mario Bros Super Show where Mario and Luigi were just normal plumbers in Brooklyn and got transported to the Mushroom Kingdom. I mean, we don’t know how Mario and Luigi got there so I can see this
@@bennysontennyson My theory is that because Foreman is in this movie, he'll probably go through the wrong pipe in Wrecking Crew and get transported to the Mushroom Kingdom.
I'm actually super pumped for this movie now. Jack Black did an amazing job as Bowser, and just like what you were saying about the FNAF movie, this has to apply to all audiences and not just those who know about Mario (Though compared to FNAF way more people know about the Mario franchise in general). I was worried about how it would turn out and now this has alleviated most of that. My boyfriend is theorizing that this may be an origin story considering Mario didn't recognize where he was. Either way, I look forward to seeing it in theaters!
@@swrvvo Actually no. Toad probably doesn't know Mario's name. There's a clear cut in the trailer between the scene where Mario enters the Mushroom Kingdom, and when Toad asks Mario to follow him. I do really believe this is going to be an origin story movie do to some members of the cast and some leaks as well.
It has been theorized since months already that it's an origin story. We had big hints because of the character Spike, and Mario and Luigi working for him probably in the city before they came to mushroom kingdom.
I honestly think they’ve all worked so hard on this, and it’ll definitely be worth it ✨✨🙌 this snippet looked amazing!! The animation quality was incredible, and although mario wasn’t Italian, he wasn’t in the original show or the other mario film either, so I’m not too fussed - everything looks great and I have high hopes :)
Nintendo's a super picky brand when it comes to stuff like this. So if a trailer is made and it's on a Livestream like this it means it must be up to their standards.

So he's taking inspiration from the cartoon I haven't seen the cartoon so I was wondering why it didn't quite sound Italian exactly. Interesting I didn't know that
I think peoples main issue is that the voice should fit the character and not that it should fit the voice actor. like sure any other accent probably would have sounded weird coming from chris, but then if that's the case why not just hire an actual voice actor who can do a better fitting voice. When I hear Chris's mario voice its not giving super mario, its giving lil Tony - which isn't bad, its just not what most people are expecting
I see the direction they're going with this. They're not going for classic-sounding voices, but instead taking a new approach with the Mario lore. I can already here the "Bowser's too high pitched, Toad's not raspy enough, Mario is just Chris Pratt playing a Mario game!"
i think Bowser is perfect, Toad is a bit raspy but not too much which is good because it seems he's going to be on the screen a lot so it would be a train wreck for him to sound like he does in the game's XD, Mario sounds pretty fine considering this is most likely an origin story so he won't have an italian accent anyways
Mario voice complaints are understandable, Bowser on the other hand sounds amazing! And for those who complain about Toad's voice, try doing the original Toad voice for one minute with just a few pauses and see how it goes.
@@CleanUpNick From what I gained, this version of Mario is similar to the old cartoon, in that he's of Italian descent but lived in Brooklyn before being yanked sideways through reality to the mushroom kingdom, so the voice here sounds at least somewhat fitting for that. I also agree with several other commenters that this is some kind of origin story.
It might just be me, but I thought Mario's voice actor, Chris Pratt, might've been trying to mimic whoever voiced Mario in those old cartoons from the 80s and 90s. And I think he did more than good enough.
This bowser is probably going to be the best bowser we can ever get, cause this bowser actually has a goal and with his koopas actually seems like a threat and honestly for Mario I could totally get used to him talking like that it wont always match completely but it'll still be great cant wait!!
Yep, bowser's voice may not be exactly what I was expecting, but jack black's voice fits just as well. Also, I for one don't think that the floating island at the beginning was bowsers actual castle, I think it was some kind of "mobile siege fortress" designed to lay siege to an entire kingdom on its own, while bowsers actual castle is sitting back in his own territory, perhaps that's where we saw Luigi trying to hide from the dry bones.
I was really scared about the movie knowing that ILLUMINATION was behind it, But now I feel like this might just be one of their most promising movies since the original Despicable Me
This film looks cartoony but also SO unbelievably gorgeous in my opinion and illumination did an amazing job with the characters as well (like making them look close to their video game counterparts)
To be honest, I’m really impressed with how much hard work they put into making this! Like Paramount with Sonic and recently Blumhouse with FNaF, I honestly think this will turn out awesome!!
I am really happy with how it looks and I can't wait to see it in theaters. Shocked that I don't have any complaints and it gives detective Pikachu vibes for it's realistic but cartoony vibe

6:30 literally the only positive response I've heard for this, finally an actual response other than "That's not Mario!!!, he's supposed to have a stereotypical Italian accent!!". Even though he's a plumber from Brooklyn lol
Chris Pratt as Mario = It's all right but let's wait and see. Charlie Day as Luigi = Gotta hear more lines from this fellow but he still got potential. Keegan-Michael Key as Toad = Decent and thankfully not annoying Kevn Michael Richardson as Kamek = Thank gosh Kevin didn't speak in his normal voice because it would sound to deep for Kamek. Jack Black as Bowser = I have no words... Like, Jack Black is known for being in comedy films and heck he voiced Po the Panda but his voice makes Bowser hilariously intimidating. Hopefully the other actors like Seth Rogen as D.K. comes out enjoyable.

I'm super hyped for the movie. I think it looks amazing. Some may be a bit iffy about Mario's voice but I really like it. I can hear a hint of a Brooklyn accent which makes me love it more as someone who watched the old Mario cartoons. I'm really looking forward to it.
My guess is that Mario will be voiced by Chris Pratt initially, then slowly develop the Charles Martinet voice we’re all used to. There’s speculation that this movie is an origin story, and you can see Chris and Charles both in the list of actors at the end of the trailer.
You can tell that Nintendo helped put quite a bit of money into this. Like this is LEAGUES beyond Illumination’s normal quality (which isn’t normally bad either) Id say this is straight up comparable to a Pixar film visually, which is awesome Bowser is absolutely amazing. The way he looks, the way he sounds, everything is great. He reminds me of Galaxy Bowser tbh Kamek, Toad and Mario all sound pretty good too. I’m really interested to hear Seth Rogan’s Donkey Kong Can’t wait for this to release. It’s so awesome to see Video Game movies FINALLY being good
You can tell how much everyone cares about this movie! That alone is going to make this a masterpiece! A cornerstone in the animation and video game worlds! and yeah, Mario, Toad, (definitely) Bowser, Kamek, and what little you hear of Luigi sounds great!

Bowsers animation is so good and Jack Black did a good job, I’m alright with Mario and Chris I don’t know how to feel about it but I’m so used to Charles’ that I can’t grasp this one yet but we’ll see it sounds good so far though!
Gotta say, the animation looks HIGHEST OF HIGH TIER! Didn't expect that from Illumination of all companies; I mean, their work is good, but like, moderately good. In the trailer, the lighting, the texture work, the modeling, the details like Mario's clothes' ripples.. it's all top notch, it's impressive! When it comes to the voices, I am almost fully sold; Bowser sounds great, Magikoopa (a.k.a. Kamek) sounds great, Toad sounds pretty good, the only one I still have a step back on is Mario's since there is one thing that NEEDS to be in Pratt's performance for it to justify the voice: a Brooklyn accent. To those who don't know, Mario worked in New York before going to the Mushroom Kingdom, as seen in the arcade game Donkey Kong; in the trailer, since Mario is confused about the new location he's in, which has to be the Mushroom Kingdom, he has to have arrived from New York through that pipe he came from, but THE ACCENT NEEDS TO BE THERE for it to make sense! I think I heard it in Mario's last line in the trailer, but it could be just me. Overall, I'm optimistic! I think Nintendo had a hands-on approach to this movie; it will at the very least be successful with the kids! Beyond that, as much as they must be going for a hands-on approach, the team still is passionate about the character, so we might have an actually GOOD product in our hands!
Yeah, I can hear that Chris Pratt is trying to do the Brooklyn accent in the last line. Though I really like his interpretation of Mario's voice because it reminds me of Mario's voice in Mario bros super show.
Wow. This actually look's pretty damn good. When I saw the voice cast and found out that it was gonna be made by Illumination. I was really worried. But after seeing this teaser trailer. I can officially say that I'm excited for The Super Mario Bros Movie. I've wanted an official animated Mario movie since I was a child and this just look's amazing. Especially with the animation. It look's gorgeous and the voice's we got to hear sound great.
I believe their going on the route of this being Mario's first adventure into being the star hero plumber he is today, as he question where he is when appearing in the mushroom kingdom.
Honestly I like how they've grabbed some stuff from the old show where Mario's from New Jersey, Luigi also looks and sounds great and Bowser... what can I say except he looks so badass! Honestly can't wait to see it since my very first game was Mario when I was 5 and I had a Wii, so basically this is a kick in my nostalgia bucket!
Exactly! I feel like people have forgotten how TV-series Mario sounded back then. He sounded more natural instead of going all highpitched and stuff like in the videogames. XD So yeah, I really have no problem with Chris Pratt as Mario, honestly. :)

I'm really happy with the way it looked I thought it would be like creepier or like more human like but I'm happy they went with this approach I wonder what the plot is going to be
I'm actually glad that they're really closely working with Shigeru miyamoto because I feel like that was another issue with the previous movie they didn't have that much input from what I know
This movie looks like it's worth watching for anyone who grew up with The Super Mario Bros. games, I use to play the very early ones as a kid, my favorite is Super Mario World. ;)
This movie looks a lot better than I thought it would be. Jack Black seems like a good fit for Bowser. I'm still unsure about Chris Pratt as Mario. Visually it looks great
My opinion on Chris Pratt as Mario is the same one as Ryan Renolds as Pikachu, where at first you think, “there’s no way they can pull it off” but then you watch the movie & they blow you away with their preference
As a Mariokart fan, IM ABSOLUTELY HYPED FOR THIS MOVIE!!! When I first heard of who the casting options were, I was sceptical…considering that it didn’t really resonate with me on how they would work..BUT MY GOSH I WAS WRONG
