It would be perfect if their dealer network was halfway decent, wasn't shrinking, and didn't have shadiness. Can't get an Alfa in OKC now unless I want to drive to Fort Worth for maintenance.
Roger Gomes if it had: matrix led active headlights, responsive infotainment, new assistants like ACC reacting to speed limits and curves, online option with simcard etc etc etc - everything what for example passat has for years then it would be perfect but for now it is outdated piece of junk that nobody buys.
I do have a Stelvio 2018 and the differences are minor. Having said that I like the interior very much, it's very sporty and has a great quality. For 30 years I only bought Porsche & Mercedes and I still have one of each. Main differences in 2020 are the new display and the armrest . This car has $10k in options as you can see
No question the Italians understand style. Beautiful👏 I can only hope they have also paid attention to not only deft detail, but reliability and durability. The gorgeous Guilia has been here for three years now. I'd like to see a favorable long-term ownership video excluding lease programs to justify this new sports sedan's King Of The Throne crown !💪
Never had an Italian car for 30 years (only german) in 2018 I bought a Stelvio. It's the most reliable car I ever had. The less reliable was a Boxster I had. My stelvio never saw the dealer beside the 1st check after 10000 miles.
@@gabrielesartori3308 That's wonderful!👍 I've bought only one brand new BMW. At the time, most thought, (including myself) that it held the number two spot. Second to MB. How things have changed. I never owned a second BMW. I've owned two S60Rs though!👍 The funny thing about my experience with BMW, their 325 I purchased was declared their best effort at reliability? That was 1986!! Nowadays, they catch fire while parked if you stare at them?? The Guilia is looking better each day! At 300 ft/lbs of fun and a good reliability record. My interest has peaked ownership once again in the brand! All the best to you and your Stelvio. A sharp SUV!😎
You need to search out European reliability metrics of the Georgio platform (Giulia and Stelvio). They are way up at the top. Anyone who spouts ill informed drivel about "Alfa reliability" in 2019/2020 is almost certainly an extremely poor/bribed journalist, or a BMW fanboy that feels jealous because his used 3 Series he drives whilst wearing his chav Burberry cap backwards is now one of the most ubiquitous and uncool cars on the road.
@@unickygtube Thank you for that info! BMW fanboy. Lol How about obsolescence fanboy? BMW, where's the individualism in ownership? What's the sense of knowing the entire service dept on first name basis.. with an overpay Clause? Bavarian Plastic Works.
16:06 that's exactly what I thought this "touch screen" thing would be. That's really a turn off for anyone who was excited about it. Thanks, Ron. Great material as always.
Great review, thanks! I'm very disapointed with the reverse camera, for an 50 000+ car. But the clean look and the quality is great. Looking forward for the stelvio presentation. Happy holidays from Romania!
You and your buddy better get ready for those stelvio quadrifoglio models my friend. You know I'm going to make that drive up from the 305, and we're going to put up a video. The back-up camera video can certainly be updated via software. there's no reason that they can't make those changes like you said to have the sensor display for the car be smaller and the camera view be bigger as a matter of fact there's no reason why the user could not decide to adjust the size of one or the other. It's a software world my friend, and it's alpha really wants to make an impact software is where it's at. The Next step would be to make a 300-plus horsepower mid-range edition of the giulia and stelvio.
@Marcelo Lopez Im so ready! I just hope Alfa does updated. Wish it would have came out of the box that way. But yes we are living in the era of over the air updates!
Rons Rides looks great!! Kind of wish I hadn't seen this as my plans have been to pick up a used 17-19 model. They really improved things in the 2020's and it's going to suck knowing what I'm missing out on. 😀
Definitely glad that they updated the interiors. I’ll be buying mine in the next year or two so who knows what type of styles they would have then. For now I am happy with all the features that the 2020 has. I’m sure other people feel the same and I know it’s going to boost the sales, especially with Alfa Romeo not increasing the price too much. #GoodMove #AlfaRomeo 😎
Love it but don't feel that the changes are that different from my 2019. I love my 2019 TI Sport. We will see how the tech evolves and maybe that convince me to upgrade in the future. The Alfa Romeo script was on the bottom of my remote from my 2019.
Ron, many nice touches in the 2020. I like the red stitches on the steering wheel and shifter. I do not like the open cup holders. I am enjoying my 2019. These are fantastic sport sedans. Truly under the radar and most drivers still have never heard of them. Glad I know who they are and how wonderful the driving experience is owning one. I also like the black headliner. Wish my car had one!
Glad you love the car and enjoyed the first look. I knew the cup holders would be an issue for most. These still do fly under the radar and I dont see enough of them around but I want that to change!
Looks great. Would need the AWD for the north. I prefer the cover for the cup holder. Help keep the dust out when you're not using it and gives it a cleaner look
I think customers that are cross shopping this with the premium brands are definitely going to notice the upgraded interior. Love the graphics on the new screens. Center screen seems to be similar to BMW, a good thing with the number of buyers cross shopping this car. They will feel the screen is familiar to them. I did noticed the center screen display in drive mode explorer displayed AWD. then normal, sport, etc. The spec sheet showed RWD car and there was no Q4 on the deck lid. Is this a discrepancy ?
Good catch on the awd vs rwd. It may be a discrepancy so I'll have to go back to scope that out because if so the car is a RWD model so wonder if the screen doesnt change between both drivetrains.
I absolutely loves it, cracking review Ron, just wish there was an alfa dealership here in Wales, will head off over the bridge in the new year to test drive one👍
Ron thanks for taking the time to do this. Another comprehensive and detailed review. Great combo as well. Happy holidays Ron to you and your family ! The Giulia / Stelvio looks the business and they have addressed the previous infotainment drawbacks. Can't wait for a 2020 Stelvio review. My spec Stelvio would be Stromboli Grey with red leather and sunroof. Black wheels and the smoked rear lights !
Hey Ron. Now that you mention Doug DeMuro why not offering him review the Giulia ti? I am sure it'd be very interesting and would extend your range. After all, he makes a little bit advertisement for the dealerships he borrows the cars from.. 😁
Love it! However, they gotta move the engine start/stop kill switch to a more convenient location. BMW does it best, right next to the engine on/off button.
Is it just a backup camera or is an all around camera an option? I couldn’t live without the all around camera in my Stinger. The all around camera in the Stinger is fantastic. I couldn’t pull out of the garage without it.
You are lucky in the US, in Europe (Germany) the base price is 66K in US dollars for this same model....you have got to love the VAT tax. 51K is a steal for it imho, however i dont know about the service/dealer network in the US.
It’s nice that they have changed the infotainment, but every reviewer is saying it’s laggy. That alone would put me off buying this car, it’s just still a bit behind the German brands in this segment when it comes to tech.
PS: At $41k base. The Guilia Ti is a well deserved alternative bargain!👍👍 $10k in options seems a bit excessive? With that.. there isn't an option for the bigger brake package? aka "QV"👎 Thanks for reading off the options list though!
With SUVs you triumphantly stride forward ostentatiously... the crowd eyeing your every pace forward as dramatic as can be. With high performance sports sedans you kind of slip into the crowd and then... hey presto suddenly the crowd realizes that you are making a splash impression in their minds. Wow.
Great comprehensive review and nice to finally see the upgrades ‘first hand’. Have they upgrade the quality of the switchgear - specifically the centre 3 dials for info, vol and drive select. I dive a 2017 QV and this dials are pretty flimsy ☹️
Great video. Really disappointed with the open cup holders that, for some reason, are only open on the Giulia... the Stelvio still has the slide to cover them. Why?
Please read explanation for D.N.A. on official Alfa Romeo page. You got only D wright. D - Dynamic Mode When Dynamic mode is chosen, you’ll have more responsive and direct control behind the wheel. The engine and brakes operate in a more reactive manner, while traction control engagement operates in a subtle fashion. N - Natural Mode Heading downtown for a nice evening or hitting the highway for your daily commute? Natural mode is ideal for more neutral surfaces and terrains. An added bonus of driving in Natural mode is minimizing fuel consumption for the duration of your journey. A - All Weather Mode During potentially dangerous weather conditions or when the road surface turns slippery, All Weather mode proves to be an excellent setting. Once selected, the Alfa Romeo DNA System will communicate with various components throughout the vehicle to ensure they are proactively responding as needed.
It seems some American dealers have have taken it upon themselves to make up some by bullshit for their own websites, and in the process sucker people into making embarrassing "corrections" in public comment sections! The "A" is for " Advanced Efficiency" not "All-Weather". That's direct from the central AlfaRomeo.com, and also from me, a Giulia owner!
Great review. Your videos are always very good and very informative. Do you know if the Guilia Veloce will be available for sale in the US IN 2020? Thanks.

@Rons Rides can you tell more info about laminated glass? is this a standard option or you have to pay for it additionaly?
Good point. Pretty sure you still have to deactivate it every time. At least in Europe unfortunately it is related to EU laws and policies. Was one of the first things a tried to figure out on my 2019 model.
I was told NO due to the geometry of the engine bay. There is not sufficient space for the V6 and the drive to the front wheels. The Stelvio has more space and hence they managed to squeeze it all in. The Stelvio is shockingly fast, I've seen it clocked in 0-60 in 3.3 seconds. The Giulia QV is lighter and more aerodynamic; with an AWD powertrain I'm sure it'd be able to clock in at very nearly 3 seconds.
@@RonsRides - Alfa Romeo was always about performance and drivers connecting with their cars. The Alfa sales were picking up until Alfa cancelled the 4C. This was followed with prospective buyers of the Alfa brand starting to have doubts about Alfa's commitment to this comeback. The cancellation of the Giulia GTV will only exacerbate this issue and may unfortunately lead to further sales problems. Potential buyers will not like the prospect of a brand disappearing from the market right after they make a purchase. FCA executives need to take their heads out of their butts !!
I really like the guilia's. However, I've always been curious why they dont offer an engine option to slot between the 280hp 2.0 and the 505hp twin turbo v6. Maybe it's cost too much for them to do that?
Please for the love of god, let this translate into new customers!!! I would get one but, I'm saving for a house. But anyway that new shifter makes the interior pop.
Does Android auto work in widescreen on the new infotainment software? If it does that gives us hope they might update the older systems or are at least aware of the issue.
