Wolverine v3 tournament is $99 with same specs/features just not wireless. Most definitely grabbing one ☝️ $199 for the V3 Pro isn’t worth it IMO but to each their own
I can agree to that. I bought the Wolverine Ultimate (the original) and it's what I'm rolling with for now. I'm a sucker for controllers so I might buy this,
I just ordered the tournament. My dog broke my right thumb stick on my gamesir g7. I fixed it with a staple, but it kinda janky, but it'll work until the new one comes.
The "wired 1000 Hz yay!" comes from the fact that official Xbox controllers have been stuck at 125 Hz for some time now. Most other controllers are better than that, but still usually lower than 1000 Hz, especially wireless.
I love the elite. But yeah. The elite sucks. Day 1 on 4 controllers i had SLIGHT but noticable delay and drift. I bought a gamesir for 30 bucks and its better. Xbox needs to step up ASAP.
@@pandamonium0_042 it's mainly the bumpers that fail. They're incredibly weak. Depending what games you play they can fail quicker, for example Gears of War, RB being reload will see that bumper fail much sooner. I remap games like those bumper controls to the upper back paddles to extend the integrity of those bumpers.
Hopefully they release a PS5 compatible version shortly. I hate the rear buttons on the older Razer pro controllers and like these better. Actually my favorite was their now discontinued Raiju Tournament Edition. That was perfect IMO.
I have both versions of the wired Wolverine controllers for the Xbox and they have held up to years of PUBG. Original has slight drift but the V2 doesn't. I always map the L3 and R3 inputs to the bottom triggers so I don't have to push in the sticks.
Agreed, I was mind blown by the Flydigi Apex 4, never used the Vader, there isn't a comparison, and I've had lots of them including razer, turtle beach, elite, elite v2, various scuf's (ewe 100%), and a battle beaver (playstation style)..
Agreed I got mine this week and I think its at least as good as and in some areas better than my Scuf Envision Pro. Certainly insane value and features for PC.
Hey Techne. Are the sticks Hall effect? I only use hall effect now and once you do you will never go back. The precision is night and day. If this controller is hall effect its 100% a buy for me
Hello and best regards from Germany. I have been using the controller with cable on a Windows 11 PC since yesterday and have a very good impression of this device. All the controls make a very high-quality impression and I personally think the controller is the best of its kind. Of course, I have only been able to test a limited number of other products myself.
Glad to see they went w/ Hall effect sticks. It's boggling that some companies are still not doing this as the norm. I hope Razer will consider making a Pay$tation version as I do like having the touch pad and gyro motion control support.
been saying for years that controllers need to stray away from membrane buttons and spring loaded joy sticks. this controller looks amazing. will be buying one to see its potential
oh man, those back buttons look really good. i;ve been waiting for someone to do back buttons/paddles that are similar to the elite series2, bc those are the best IMO
I have had the Wolverine V2 for a few years now & been serving me well. Stayed away from the Chroma version because I hated the extra button placement and felt I didn't need them, although I've come to realize I would totally use them if they were inset on the grips like this. Am a claw grip player and I very heavily use the M1 & M2 extra bumpers up top, curious to see how I change my hold with the extra 4 on the back. Hall effect sensors plus all of those extra customization options on the rear PLUS WIRELESS are the cherries on top, this looks like the perfect Xbox controller at least for me. Thanks for showing the software, none of the other reviews I've seen had done that and that really sealed the deal to see how much depth there is versus the basic V2 (that can't even adjust deadzone!) A little disappointed about the lack of that rubber grip coming all the way around that's going to feel like a downgrade but in all other facets seems like the controller is a proper upgrade to the excellent V2!
they literally cant use magnetic thumbsticks anymore. the V2 had it, but in case you forgot the modules are Hall Effect. the magnet on the thumbstick top would break the modules functionality below. you see the same issue with controllers that have both hall effect sticks and triggers. whenever the trigger is fully depressed the thumbstick next to it starts to cut out or not function properly.
@@IIlicit Wym? The wolverine V2 has issues with the the plastic from the triggers interfering with bumpers being able to be pressed. It was an issue with every controller
Thank god its hall-effect. If I was looking for a new controller, I would almost definitely pick this one up. It took so many years for a well-known and good quality company to make a hall-effect stick controller because of all the politics and intentional planned obsolescence. It has been absolutely unacceptable what these OEM manufacturers have been doing to limit this innovation coming to market and intentionally not changing it so you buy more controllers. They have even gone far enough to not even allow you to easily fix the worn out and problematic joystick issues that the analog technology had. There were so many solutions and they never once implemented ANYTHING to keep you throwing out controllers and buying new ones. Thank you Razer.
cheaper brand to keep in mind for you "gullikit king kong pro 3 max controller" almost 50% less priced than the razer but same offering. except for exchangeable paddles and buttons.
m$ is not gate keeping anything besides HZ on these things ...razar made a smart choice u can simply buy caps that go over your sticks for way cheaper than a kit from M$..real serios gamers are not going to swap out sticks ..u pick a size and that it all the others go to waste..we dont need the extra fluff from the elite that comes broken in the box half the time all players...serious gamers need to do is get the tournament version of this pad which is 100USD at a later date
The V3 reminds me a lot of the xbox 360 controllers with the more roundedness this has. Kinda like a "what if" scenario if they had a 360 elite controller made
The one thing you didn't mention is that these controllers are using hall effects thumb sticks (huge win). As someone who has been using Razer (Wildcat and Wolverine V1.) their mouse click buttons have been my favorite feature on controllers and I've never looked back since (switched to Gamesir T4 Kaleid). While I'd love to own another Razer controller, especially now that they have a wireless version, I'm not willing to spend $200+ on controllers anymore especially since I switched to PC gaming more now. P.S Those M1&2 buttons are one of my missed features from other controller brands I've used (Elite v1, Scuff, Gamesir(current))
as an Xbox Controller expert, you should know that the robber on the Xbox elite has issue with the edges and clue that gives up over time. and maybe why razor didnt add it to the front
I just set mine up today. Major major unbelievable stick drift right out the box and these are supposed to be halls! My soul is broken man! 💔🤣 And I've had every other razor before this. Good luck everyone 🤙
@@ColtonGuindonnope, have the same exact issue, if you have the deadzone set to 0, you have stick drift, switching it to 1 seems to fix it but its pretty ridiculous that you have to do that in the first place, hopefully a firmware update can fix the issue, because the controller feels amazing otherwise
@@kenzilbaptiste2519 Yes, chase. Flydigi, 8bitdo, Gulikit, Machinike, Beitong are inovative companies. And nowaday they create new trends which "big companies" follow. Antidrift sticks, mechanical buttons, controllers with display, microswitches under triggers, etc. - all new trends came from Chinease companies. So, if we talking about trash - Razer product quality is a trash, overpriced trash. Im deep in this topic and all testing by myself, so I know what Im talking about it.
Technically, big companies like Razer are Chinese companies lol. They charge more and use the same manufacturers in China. $200 and will still say Made in China on the back of it.
As a competitive brawlhalla player, I really loved their wired controllers! Not shocked this product is doing well. Hard to wanna shell out $150ish dollars every time, but the only controller i saw with clicky mouse buttons on abxy. Hope this keeps those!
The chroma pro v2 or whatever it was called had the same rear button layout as the og Wolverine. On the og the rear button layout was actually comfortable since the controller was smaller and didn’t have those wide haunches like on the chroma v2. Glad to see the v3 fixed that and add the features I wanted in a pro controller. Hall sticks, mech face and rear buttons, and a rear button layout that isn’t flaccid by design. Totally agree with you in the missed point of extending that rubberized grip to the front. Bummer. Will be adding this to the collection for sure. Thank you sir ❤
Looks like Razer fixed all the issues I had with the V2 Chroma. I do use the M1 and M2 with the V2 Chroma, I programmed them to be the mouse click trigger stop since the V2 didn't have that option on the trigger stops. Great review, keep it up Brotha.
Isnt the reason this is the 1st Razer wireless Xbox controller because Xbox had a specific license for wireless controllers until the start of 2024 and no 3rd parties were able to legally make any till now? So not realy weird at all, more of a constraint issue from Xbox themselves.
Had Scuf Instinct Pro for years and play often and never had any problems. Until other controllers get the same mouse click triggers and have 4 paddles I won't switch. And dang, this one has it....I do love my scuf and hope it last for years to come
Just ordered the scuf a few days ago, only reason I got it because razer didn't make a wireless (or I didn't know at the time) and the elite controller always breaks in under a year. Would you say the scuf is still worth it though?
@Ironz._. I love my scuf and would definitely still recommend it. Not sure how much I would like the back buttons on this Razer but I really like the ones on my scuf. I use all 4 in every game I play from FPS games to Elden Ring. Another pro is the removable batteries. I know this is a con to some people but I can always swap rechargeable packs so I never have to use a wire to charge but even if I ran out of batteries I could play wired too.
it’s not mention on the video but you can two finger grip the Razer better than normal controllers. Maybe it doesn’t feel as good on a three finger grip.
Razor controller feels and looks amazing. The mouse click response and how lite it is gets a lot of cool points from me. Core elite 2/elite 2 with the trigger stops and paddles on doesn’t feel as great as the razor color. Elites also break down fast af. I ran thru elites that bumper buttons fail within a year. It doesn’t feel like this will be the same
Everyone commenting Flydigi fail to mention they have a bunch of QC issues . They advertised 1000hz but still has input lag when tested , and the back button layout is horrendous. Not the best but still doesn’t outperform a stock DualSense controller apart from Hall effect sticks and mechanical buttons.
100%, the Turtle Beach Stealth Ultra is fucking garbage. It's a little cheaper and does come with a charging dock, but the controller itself is very cheaply made and has a lot of issues.
@StardustLegacyFighter what controller would you say is best for use on xbox, I have the razer v2 and the v1, victrix, elite series 2, thrustmaster and scuf
@@esportsmiyagiI'd say it has to be this one atm, since it can't be beat when it comes to specs and quality. The Victrix Pro BFG is a decent alternative, but it lacks clicky buttons and you need to buy hall effect modules separately.
This is what I want to know. Someone replied to be on Twitter saying they are like the highest tension on the Elite. I'm worried to buy it and not be happy. Once you play on max tension going back is awful
Unless I missed it I didn’t hear you say anything about the tension in the joysticks. Any idea how they compare to other controllers? Are they really loose or nice and stiff? Can’t really find info on this anywhere
If I'm not mistaken, Razer still doesn't include the option to invert the left and right sticks and you can't remap all the buttons, only the 6 M buttons, it's true that in many games you can customize that, but there are also many that don't allow you to customize too much, in that aspect the Xbox Elite is the best, it even allows you to customize the buttons with letters and keyboard combinations. I wouldn't buy it just for this reason
They couldn't use magnets for the removeable thumb sticks because hall effect sticks use magnets for movement. But they definitely could have used the default stick connector like scuff does.
the fact you didnt mention the sticks have hall effect and won't drift over time really explains why microsoft has gotten away with selling these crappy sticks for this long
the fact that in 2024 razer still releases controllers that doesnt let you remap the triggers, face buttons or L3 and R3 is just wild especially for a $200 controller
ive been using the first razer wolverine ultimate, im thinking of buying either the new wolverine v3pro or flydigi apex 4, o rturtle beach stealth ultra. any advice?
Does anyone have this weird issue, where if you try to charge the controller using your PC (when the controller is off), the charging light flashes yellow for a few seconds and then turns off? I mean, my controller does get fully charged, but I have no way of knowing when because the LED light stays off.
I use them on FPS games sometimes as you can shoot faster than the actual triggers. Even with the half step trigger settings the M1 and M2 buttons are faster. I also use M1 sometimes for reload of guns. Anything to keep your thumbs on the thumb sticks instead of taking your thumb off to hit A,B,X,Y I also use the underneath left button to run instead of pushing down on the thumb sticks. I have a bad habit of pushing down on my sticks in stressful situations so sometimes I deactivate the thumb stick pushing down buttons, I use to knife by accident in call of duty all the time back in the day, so I just deactivate it now.
Will you please do a review of the QC Bose headphones and vs the Beats studio.. I recently purchased the Phillips 9600 for the use on xbox.. and im hearing things in game i never heard before.. And not sure if these will work on xbox
Looks really good but it’s a shame that there is no 1000hz wireless, only wired. There are 80 dollar controllers that can do 1000hz polling wirelessly. Cmon Razer.
It’s getting harder and harder to recommend these controllers when brands like Flydigi are gaining popularity in the Western market. I recently bought a Direwolf 2 for just 30 bucks, and it has all the features you’d want in a controller, all while being so affordable.
Bit the bullet and got one since Iill just work for my money back, feels much more premium than an Elite controller, the shape reminds me of Steam controller but it fits my smaller hand, even the back buttons fall onto my fingers correctly! Larger hand might feel a bit short. Using mouse switches + hall effect sticks definitely will last much longer and clicks already feels better than a normal Xbox controller. I despite the Xbox Wireless adapter, the smaller one that suddenly stopped working on me and doesn't want to turn on when I try to connect my Xbox controller, forced me to use Bluetooth but Bluetooth then doesn't work half of the time, and I know Razer dongle works great from owning their mouses so this hopefully wouldn't be any difference. Overall I'm glad this came out being sold at Microcenter as my 3rd Xbox controller died on me and that's 3 in 5 years + 2 wireless adapters. I also took a look at Flydigi Apex 4 and was about to get it but seeing people complain the loose/broken L stick within weeks just doesn't sit for me.
Yeah, get the DualSense Edge though and you ACTUALLY get 4 EXTRA Buttons, not a ton of DUPLICATES of the same standard buttons.. AND it's properly supported by SteamInput.
Can you also remap the "normal" buttons like on the elite controller? Like could i remap my right thumbstick to "B"? Im used to crouch with a press of my right thumbstick, but not all games have full control customization, thats why i want my controller to be able to customize all the buttons.
Sorry you missed some ESSENTIAL usps which makes this thing so special:: 1000hz is special! As this is one of few out of the box controllers that does that! At the moment Duelsense edge is 1000hz, regular dualsense 250hz (overclockable to 1000hz on pc) and a regular xbox controller is 125hz and cant only go to 250hz on pc wired. The switches are razors mouse switches which are very reliable and the most important USP: HALL EFFECT THUMBSTICKS!! As someone who collects controllers i have so many pretty controllers barely used that have stick drift. Hall effect barely ever has stickdrift and is more precise. At the moment some niche controllers have it like KK max/8bitdo but this is one of first big companies that brings this to market. The price is meeeehh even the wired versiom is kinda expensive as for example a KK max is about 60$ and has same features..however razor has better quality i guess...
I wish you also have tested the D-Pad input precision. There are so many controllers nowadays which have horrendous D-Pad precision, resulting in misinputs (e.g. pressing left may sometimes also register pressing up).
I have played with the last few generations of Xbox elite and Razer controllers. I prefer the Xbox elite ones but they always end up having thumbstick drift issues and underbelly paddle not responding at every click after about 15 months (right after the warranty). Same thing happened with my last Razer controllers that felt light and « plasticky ». Over all, they all end up either with stick drift or paddle issues a little after a year. I now use the new Turtle beach controller and even if stick drift is no longer an issue, after 3 months the right and left bumpers that felt light and « plasticky » are not responding at every click…… i no longer know wich controller to put my confidence into beside going back to buy an Elite controller every 15 months or so🤷🏼♂️
This controller will eventually go on sale as the rest do, however after owning the wired version it was very underrated because this seems literally like a pro version of the v2, I’m gonna save for this because my only gripe about the v2 was it being $150 and only being wired
Flydigi did it better :( as a Razer fan sometime i had to admit that Razer's product price is a bit ridiculous. move from Xbox elite 2 to Flydigi Vader 3pro + Apex 4, totally satisfied i can see alot of guy only use 2 paddles in the back of Elite2 too, haha
@TheTechne Please make a Video about razer THX spatial audio which now costs 25.00€ and Blackshark v2 pro owners have to pay to use THX spatial audio again... It is so unfair I paid in 2021 165€ for my Blackshark v2 pro because it had THX included and to pay now 25€ for it, is the biggest ripoff. And Techne please compare it to the steelseries sonar software which is now my main audio software equalizer that has spatial audio included. At least with sonar I can use again an equalizer with my Blackshark because the razer synapse equalizers and audio enhancements stopped working after an Synapse Update. So Techne please make a video about THX spatial audio alternatives and good equalizers that work with all headsets like steel series sonar. I am looking forward to watch such a video because I really struggled finding a good alternative for Razer THX spatial audio+equalizer for a headset.
I honestly don’t think anything will ever be as good as the elite 2 tho. The elite 3 when it comes out I guess. Anybody who says they don’t last long is an idiot who’s never actually had one or an idiot who can’t take care is their stuff. Plain and simple. Plus just buy the extended warranty. Easy
