We ripped very hard clay soil. The area was a meadow before with shrubs, thistles, burdock etc. In the meantime we also learned how to better use the tractor. It's more efficient to ripp in 1 direction and then also across. And it's better for the chains to have the blade or loader installed to push the loose dirt away. This avoids to drive through loose dirt. And we are still learning,

I think it is awesome that you have taught your kids how to operate this tractor and have them help you with the garden. Memories forever! So nice to see your daughter teaching her sister how to drive it!

C'mon. people this AIN'T her first time on that tractor !!!

It is her first time or almost the first time. The tractor is brand new in this video. However, she drove cars and even our pick-up truck before. She seems to be a born driver.

With shipping from US I paid over $20000 CAD for this configuration. I also have other smaller tools for it that I actually don't need. But they were in that price as well.

Hello,I enjoyed watching your video!Did you buy the grouser shoes for the tracks for extra traction?

Let's say we teach them on their own request. We are free-learning in our family.

Looks like it had a hard time a lot
@willizard
@willizard 5 лет назад
Do you mean the tractor had a hard time? Yes, it's hard for it to go through the initial grass. Once it gets rid of that and the soil is not too dry and not too wet then it's more fun to work with it.

I just purchased a used RS1000 and have already found that if you have the steel Grouser kit installed, it really handles soft soil a lot better (plus it also pulls a lot harder). I've had neighbors come out and watch me use it - they're amazed at how well it works and what it can do! I'd suggest considering ordering the grouser kit and putting it on if you need more pulling power and better functioning in soft soil. (The only drawback is that it does tear up the lawn/grass.)

Indeed, it can do way more than it looks at the first time. It took me about a year to get very familiar with it and now I use it more efficiently than at the beginning.

Expensive child's toy.
@willizard
@willizard 6 лет назад
Yep, expensive in the first run for sure. But it helps a lot with snow shovelling in winter. And it's a booster for the garden. Not like a big tractor but also more flexible than a big one and less expensive.

Nettes, praktisches Teil!

Also 2018. Vielleicht finden wir jetzt im Herbst noch Zeit zum Pflügen, aber die Kinder wünschen sich eine Eislaufbahn im Winter. Da wird wohl erstmal das Vorrang haben.

Are you able to grade virgin dirt with this using the blade? Or does the dirt have to be loose first?
@willizard
@willizard 7 лет назад
I did not try the blade yet. It's on my road map for this year. However, I would use the ripper first to loose the dirt. Then I would use the blade or the loader to further work on it. The ripper is a backend tool and the blade or loader are frontend. So ripper AND (blade or loader) can be attached at the same time. The ripper worked well on virgin, almost dry, almost hard clay with grass and small tree roots growing on top. I had to rip the same area multiple times to get the result I wanted. So, the magnatrac is not as fast as a big tractor. However, it's way faster and way easier than if I would use a shovel / spade. It takes a few days to get used to it and to find out the best way. It's winter now and I use it for snow plowing. It works well on big, not too icy piles of snow. It's not as accurate as shoveling snow by hand. There are still prints of the tracks in the snow. However, a car has no problems to drive over. And the prints get more even after some time when more cars drove over. It cannot push snow while driving on deeper snow. It has to clear an area for starting first and then, standing on firm ground the tractor has enough grip to push snow away and work through more and more snow from that spot. Driving and pushing snow at the same time was not a problem for the first weeks of snow when everything was fresh and loose. I loved to drive the RS1000 in the forest, transport firewood and clear a path for better walking. Driving uphill and pushing snow is not working as well. Best is to push the snow downhill. Then the tracks have sufficient grip in the snow / frozen soil.

Thanks for replying. I hope to get one some day.

I have a better answer for you now. I assume you have grass on the virgin dirt. With our hard clay soil the loader alone won't make it. I had to use the ripper an/or the fork that's installed on the front load loader. Once the grass sod has been removed then the load can do it without ripping first if the soil is not too dry. If it's a bit damp then the load alone did a good job. Otherwise I still need to rip it. If the soil is very moist or even wet then I would rather wait to not make the tracks too dirty. I did it but then I ended up with lots of clay in the tracks. It was not that problem because the clay falls off when it's dry again. However, a maintenance of the track is almost impossible when they are so dirty. They need some tightening once in a while. And the screws need to be checked frequently and tightened if necessary.

Thorsten Wetzig Does your tractor have the three point hitch?
@willizard
@willizard 6 лет назад
You mean this? struckcorp.com/attachments/rh65-three-point-rear-hitch-kit-category-1/ I don't have it. I was not aware of it when I purchased the tractor or maybe it's for the bigger tractors only.
