I love seeing you teach LBM how to safely run the YAPA. Take it from me, they grow up way too fast… enjoy your time together while you can!

Nice new machine. Glad to see your son would rather be outside with his Dad, helping and learning, compared to sitting in front of a TV playing video games. That says a lot for his parents bringing him up right. Great job!

The force is strong with the young woodhound! Making great memories with your son is awesome. Being 3rd in line sounds about right for Shifty. LOL

Yes...the force is strong with this young one, but he is not a Jedi (experienced operator) yet! He must "complete his training", only then...will he be ready!

Thats a beautiful machine and 3rd place isnt the worst. Also seeing their eyes light up over something you're passionate about must be an amazing feeling

Exactly. Now Shifty, has a potential 3rd set of hands to help process and stack firewood. Win Win Win.

Hi Dan: It’s a great machine for Little Bossman to run. It’s a very safe machine. When I was using the log lifter with my Japa 365, I cut my logs at 11ft. I built runners for the logs by attaching a pressure treated 4x4 to a 2x6. The smooth 4x4 made it very easy to slide logs using a hookeroon, so no bending. Last year I switched to the hydraulic timber deck.

Good to find LBM's interest in the Woodyard Activities! As you get older and he gets more experienced, you both will derive great pleasure in working together! I know what little wood processing I do, I love having my son working with me! A great mano e mano experience!

Another great addition! I’d like to add a processor one day! You have quite the set up going on! It is definitely fun watching the kids take an interest. My daughter just came out of nowhere the other day wanting to have a roadside stand. We taught her how to split and she says wow that was a lot more fun than I expected! Now that we’ve added an Axis I think she’ll like it even more. Well done. I know how it feels being pushed to the back of the line with new equipment but I wouldn’t have it any other way!
@Back40Firewood
@Back40Firewood Год назад
Congrats on the Axis...that'll really gonna add to the stand & bundle operation. Getting the family into the mix is great, also wouldn't have it any other way. Always better to have the kids ask and want to get in on something instead of trying to force the interest on them.
@hardworkingmanoutdoors
@hardworkingmanoutdoors Год назад
@@Back40Firewood Dan, absolutely. I let my kids decide rather it be sports, firewood, hunting etc. Megan never had an interest in being in any of our videos and I was fine with that. Now she asks when we can make another lol. Good to see LBM taking an interest.

Yeah we don't need to be so concerned with speed...and it really only adds maybe a few seconds in time. Far more worth it to me to have that pause to make sure all is good to go before sending the ram into splitting cycle.

Hey Dan. Any mentioned multiple times, great to see your son there working with you, even if it's for a short time... Ha. Your channel has grown on me over the months as I get more accustomed to your ways. I do enjoy seeing "Back 40 Firewood".... 2 hours ago. Haven't got to the part about the missing splitter, but pleased to see one less firewood channel running their equipment, for whatever reason. Seeing those "pro"-cessors on every channel gets old.

@killinskindlingfirewood1851
Great bonding experience with son and Dad for sure. On another note; Smaller diameter branch logs can be tricky when feeding through the processor. You might find if you lay the logs on the runners with the larger or bottom end on the entry side of the processor first they will be easier to feed through. Third in line, nah maybe further down the line. 😅😂😎
@Back40Firewood
@Back40Firewood Год назад
That's a good point....make sure the butt end is fed in first. I didn't pay attention to that when putting those logs on there, but am going to make a note of it going forward...thanks!

Where is the Eastonmade?? I see 2 things I'd change on the Japa. Definitely get ride of that stupid door that holds the logs down and replace it with a hydraulic arm.. 2nd would be nice if the log lift was somewhat wider to hold 2 to 4 logs depending on size...

Dan you are so wrong on so many levels. 1) if your son wants to help make firewood, he won’t have the energy left to go be a lil teenage hooligan. And b) if your son and wife want to run the Japa let them, the more work they do the less you have to! Have a good day

Here in the USA, for young folks, there is a good balance of "video games", a "measure of work", and other stuff. The little boss man has some nice toys already (4 wheeler). Ha! Now, if Dan introduced "alcohol and smoking" to the little boss man, then I would jump on your band wagon.

My daughter is 13. She asked me a few months ago if she could have a go at running our 1.8 tonne Kubota excavator. She now has about 50 hours of seat-time under her belt, and is a better, more patient, less aggressive operator than me... Light the fuse, and watch them take off! 😂 👍🪓💪🇦🇺
