The First Walk for Agapi and Eros! - Takis Shelter

Sturdy little Eros, the miracle baby. The only one of the litter to survive. After enduring such horrific trauma, it's no wonder Agappi does everything in her power to protect her precious baby.

Agapi and her son Eros go for a walk today thanks to the German ladies who volunteer at the shelter. A new experience for the dogs which will help socialize them not only with people but also with other dogs. Thank you, ladies!

Knowing what happened to Agapi and the horrific circumstances she endured before she came to the shelter, makes thus walk with her little boy Eros extra special. If she is allowed to do so, she'll protect him as long as she lives. A home for those two together, I think everyone hopes for that. ❤

Agapi protects Eros and Charlie protects Takis.

Mother and son Agapi and her gorgeous, chunky little Hercules-baby Eros are just adorable! Look how magnificently he has blossomed and thrived, after such a perilous start to his life. Taken into the warm embrace of the shelter as a traumatised pregnant girl, Agapi's baby Eros was the only pup of her litter to survive. Lavished from day one with his devoted Mama's love (and getting all her milk to himself too!) her only child got stronger and stronger each day. What a mercy that unlike his mother Agapi, Eros will never know the fear, suffering and trauma she endured in her pre-shelter life. He will know only love and kindness, for all his days on Earth. And he will be the confident, happy, well-adjusted little spirit God wants us all to be. Takis Shelter gave those two vulnerable souls all the love and support they needed, and their health and happiness today is the wonderful end result. Like so many other happy, furry residents, they are a living testament to the hard work, vision and dedication of Takis and his hand-picked team. BRAVO Takis Shelter - this very moving mother and son success story, is the perfect example of why you do what you do! What a tower of calm and gentle strength Takis' 'bodyguard' Charlie is. I think he fully understands Agapi's feisty display towards him is just a Mama's natural protectiveness over her vulnerable offspring. He handled her perfectly, not reacting at all and showing her that as big and strong as he is, she has nothing to fear. This is such an important aspect of Takis Shelter's brand of magic - vulnerable animals enjoy the powerful benefits of interaction with their own kind, as well as their human carers. Every creature needs to be among their own kind, it generates a positive energy even the best human being cannot provide. Takis recognises this truth. It is profound and beautiful how he enlists the help of his animal residents to support and heal each other, in multiple, miraculous, mysterious ways we humans cannot fully understand or replicate. We see this happening everywhere in the shelter. Little Daisy's trauma and anxiety at being parted from her owner after a car crash is calmed daily, not only by Takis and her human carers, but also by the gentle dogs she is sleeping, eating and playing with around the clock. Charlie is SO special... He knows Agapi needs help and cant hurt him so doesn't fight back.. Just raises his leg just in case. The dog on my display pic was exactly the same.. He helped alot of smaller dogs and his only defence was to slap them away or hold them down without causing any serious injury. (he was 48kg of muscles couldn't even lift his head for the first few days of his life it was so big and had to be handled to be feed)
