I do wish the supporting antagonists of these movies were written to be more like they are in the animated series. I hate that Sabertooth and Wolverine don’t seem to know each other like they do in the comics and animated series.
One thing that “Origins” gets right is Liev Schreiber as Sabertooth… he was pretty great in that role. You bought X-Men pajamas? Why yes, yes I did… along with my Spider-Man underoos…
"What would you prefer? Yellow spandex?" "Yes! That is what we'd all prefer!" I was in the theater saying the exact same thing you did! Try to bring that up today, and modern X-Men fans will accuse you of only thinking this because of the MCU. What really pissed me off was that the comics then put them in black costumes, and that's when I stopped reading "X-Men".
3:32 James Marsden will make a cameo in Deadpool 3 just to say "What do you prefer, black leather jumpsuits?" before taking off his visor and winking at the camera.
The Fox X-Men have succeeded far more than they failed. Look at Logan, X2 and Days of Future Past. They are three of the greatest superhero movies ever made, bar none. In his 24 years as Wolverine, Hugh Jackman has given us the greatest performance of a superhero ever put on film. I dont care what anyone says about his height or his handsome look, Hugh Jackmans Wolverine is the live action Wolverine. He's only gotten better with time. She will always be Ellen Page to me. As far as Halle Berry as Storm, i loved her death scene in Days of Future Past. Its devastating to me every time i watch the movie. To me, that death in the movie is more impactful than Storms similar death in the DOFP comic. So Halle Berrys Storm will always have a special place in my heart.
Yes, more X-MEN. Start with Mutant X and Mutant X. And randomly, I would dig it if you covered lesser known heroes of TV and film like Night Man, MANTIS, and Freakazoid.
Halle Berry was a bad choice for Storm because Angela Bassett refused the role not realizing what she was refusing. I hate that the claustrophobia she has in the comics is never mentioned in the movies.
I agree with alot of what VI says here, except casting. It is always been my personal opinion that storm and rogue weren’t cast wrong, they were written and directed wrong. Given Halle Berry range and skill, I truly believe she could have played the role the way it should’ve been…if she had been told/allowed to.
I watch the trailer for this so many times. It took ages in those days. Where i was it took over a day and that was after having to download quicktime plug in to even veiw it. I end up watching the first 30 seconds hundreds of times and left it on all night to finsh loading the bar. Remember no youtube or anything. It was a website with different features and size videos . I saw it opening day in Sydney with the same friend that i went to avengers on opening night at midnight and then endgame.
Will the villain in the MCU moving forward be Mr Fantastic (The Maker) or Cyclops? Both would be a good choice and fit with the current direction of movies without the fan base freaking out because it’s true to the comics.
I’m here to comment before I watch the video to engage lol, my only question has always been why was rouge in Alberta at the start of the movie and also why were the X-men ? Were they tracking sabertooth already?! Weird I love Canada and how they did include it for the fellow Canuck but it was always strange
The he is to tall argument needs to be put to rest when Cyclops is saying what would you prefer yellow spandex? He's actually saying it to Wolverine he is not supposed to respond it's a rhetorical question but as we know Wolverine would prefer yellow spandex because that's what he wears in the comics I think that joke has been completely misunderstood for all these years
1 of the writers of this movie and the guy that played Cyclops have defended the child abuser that have abused Drake Bell was a young kid. Wolverine Origins isn't even the worst 1 of the Fox X-men movies. X-men: Apocolypse and X-men: Dark Phoenix were much, much worse. Fun fact, 1st Class was originally a reboot of the Fox X-men movies and NOT a prequel. That idea came after. Rebbecca Romijn >>>>>>> jennifer lawrence. As Mystique. Classic Sabretooth is faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar more brutal than the movie version. Famke Jansen >>>>>>>>>>>>> sophie turner. As Jean Grey. I mean it is Rogue when she was a young child and just discovered her powers, so her being like that does make sense. But she should've slowly turn into the well known Rogue in the next couple movies.
No, we aren't going to engage in revisionist history. The X-Men movie was mediocre at best. Cyclops was not great, Magneto was too old, that was NOT Rogue, Hugh Jackman as Wolverine didn't work until X-2, the actor who portrayed Sabretooth was bad, and that was definitely NOT Storm. They chose Toad of all people to be a villain in this film. It is correctly regarded in history, and we shouldn't change that for nostalgia's sake
This is opinions bro. The first X-Men while not great and has definitely aged…is still good. There is a lot of it that is good. You seem to just not enjoy the movie which is fine.
Fun fact: Beast was supposed to be in the film but he got scrapped due to budget reasons. Because of that, his role as the brains of the X-Men was given to Jean, which why she's referred to as a Doctor in the films.
"You bought X-Men Pajamas???" I know you joke about being our least favorite RU-vidr, but Vee bro, you're one of my favorites. Keep it up and I'll keep watching. We are like 90% on the same page with these opinions man.
I feel like they gave them all black leather because 1. They thought the colorful costumes would be too goofy for the time period and 2. They thought that since the black leather was popular and worked with The Matrix, that it would work with the X-Men as well.
But the black leather works narratively as well. These X-Men are hiding from humanity than other versions of the characters we've seen. I like it. I mean, you can still see the X on their chests
The truth is, that unlike the MCU the X-Men/Fox franchise was mostly bad. Where as the MCU was good for 23 movies and a half dozen TV shows. X-Men had 3 great movies(X-Men, X2, and Logan) and most everything after that was shit.
I'd count DoFP among the winners. First Class is a movie that I enjoy and get frustrated by in equal parts, but it clears a big chunk of the MCU catalog in my book.
@@Rodanguirus It was good, but it conflicts with the original trilogy to much as well. I can't remember off hand why, but I make a list and found something like 40 f-ups in continuity between the originals and the prequels.
I like that how all these X-Men movies are so different from one another. The first X-Men is an intimate drama, the second is a survival, the third is an action-packed war, Wolverine Origins is a vengeance movie, First Class is a James Bond story, The Wolverine is a Yakuza story, Days of Future Past is a political thriller with time travel, Apocalypse is like a catastrophe movie, Logan is a disenchanted western, Dark Phoenix is an alien invasion thriller, and New Mutants a haunted mansion story.
Meh 🤨 And I still think it’s “Meh”. The overwhelming consensus in my LCS at the time was...”Good. But nothing to write home about”. It was a good start in my eyes, but my big gripe was the CHARACTER of certain characters was absent. SABRETOOTH? Wrong! MYSTIQUE? Wrong? PYRO? WTF? STORM? Miscast! etc etc
Great synopsis I’m often conflicted by my love/hate of these movies and you hit most of it! but can you throw in blade one day? I feel like nobody gives the blade series enough credit. Everyone I see it’s either props to X-Men or props to Spidey. Blade trilogy literally came right on the heels of that terrible Batman film while being rated R.
I don't mind the first film. The first three films, along with The Wolverine from 2013, are the only good X-Men films. Hated Days of Future Past, and Logan was the theatrical cut of Alien 3 = pointless and depressing.
Even if it's ultimately set in some alternate future timeline and isn't going to change the fact that we're still going to be getting another version of Hugh Jackman's Wolverine soon in the new Deadpool film, Logan just isn't one of those stories that I personally need to know about as a fan of the character. That's one of the only reasons I would consider the movie to be overrated, for me anyway.
@@kyriakoschrist It's just hard to see someone as a hero (even just playing one you grew up watching in a movie) after they defended a pedophile in the courtroom.
@@gallifreyanknight1355even when he wasn’t a big part of it past 1 and dies in the beginning of 3? Cause if so, your snubbing many others work and artistic vision because of one man’s mistake. Pedos are also great at manipulation, meaning everything he said to defend him CAN be true, just from HIS perspective. Now get over it, drake bell finally is, thank god for him.
A question that was never answered about Rogue is how did Magneto know about her powers before she even met the Xmen? After Cody, she ran away from home all the way to Canada.
Maybe Magneto had Mystique spy on Rogue up until she met Wolverine in Canada? This could also explain how was Mystique able to infiltrate the X-Mansion so easily, without even Xavier picking up her presence in the mansion.
