With 32.9 kilometres, the Koralm Tunnel is the longest railroad tunnel in Austria. With almost 540,000 m³ of concrete used, there was plenty to do for the fischer BauBot on site. The BauBot reliably drilled numerous holes, some of which were over three meters of height.
The tunnel is scheduled to open in December 2025 and will probably have cost around 6 billion euros by then. After completion, it will be possible to travel at speeds of up to 250 km/h in the twin-tube rail tunnel.
Passenger safety is the top priority here. For this reason, too, the planners of the project relied on the fischer BauBot. With maximum precision and optimum borehole cleaning, the BauBot ensures that the fixings later placed in the tunnel will hold firmly. As a robot, it is also a tireless worker that can be used around the clock. One machine operator is all that is needed to reliably control of the BauBot.
