This is a great knot. Another way is to loop back through the loop on the opposite side of the loop for a more improved version.

Great knot. Been using it for over 4 decades now. Called the Trilene knot. I was taught by a Trilene rep way back when and only need 4 wraps......not 6. Has never failed me.

Less wraps the thicker the line. But if youre tying light line 8lbs or less better go with 6 wraps. Also if youre using braid ditch this knot completely. It will slip guaranteed.

It is the first knot my father ever taught me. I was 5 years old and still remember the day he taught me. It's still the only knot I use one light to medium weight line. Above 50kg and I change my knot.

Knot typing videos seem to be the most watched of all fishing videos. Everything starts with just a knot! By the way, that is just a double clinch knot. It is even stronger if you pass the line through the loop at the end to form the double Improved clinch knot. Cheers!

This knot, and the variants of it will be good for 98% of the light fishing you do. Tensile strength studied have shown it's not the strongest but it's still the best. Make sure you use saliva on the know as you cinch it tight. It will significantly help and reduce friction heat when you pull it tight.

I keep going back through the double loop rather than just the top as shown here. This makes it much easier! I wonder if it holds equivalently?

This is the knot my grandfather taught me 60+ yrs ago. I've always called it my g-pas knot and for local bass fishing 4-6 turns always worked but light salt water I have to go 8-10 turns.

After wrapping, I thought the tag end was supposed to be passed through the double loop thats in your left hand. At least that's the way I've been doing it.

That was the best presentation for the quickest knot to use on the boat, inserting the line through the hook twice makes a better knot than the basic Clinch knot which provides more than 95% of the line break power, as a recommendation, use less loops with thicker monofilamt lines to avoid fraying the line while tightening, well-done.

That is a great knot and I’ve been using it since I was a little boy my dad who has passed away now for several years showed me how to tie it. I’m 70 years old now and still use it to tie my hooks. Fishing here where I live is a great outdoor activity.

Its just a double clinch knot, they are really strong, its just faster to twist the line though instead of wrapping it around so many times

Great basic (and reasonably) strong knot. However I would only use it for hooks with a straight eye. For hooks with an out-turned eye (as in the video) a snell knot is much better. Especially with braid. It gives the hook a superior angle to actually hook the fish.

It looks like a weak version of the Trilene Knot because he did not go through both loops at the hook eye, which in tying the Trilene Knot, you do. The Trilene Knot is very strong in monofilament but The Palomar Knot, and Uniknot are two of the best for braid, mono, and fluorocarbon lines.

А потому обрывается, что затягивать надо постепенно. сдвигая ногтем леску к колечку. Меньше будет напряжений, вследствие которых леска деформируется

This is nothing more than a clinch-knot here. It’s just doubled around the eye of the hood twice. If he’s going to do anything he needs to make a improved clinch-knot with a double wrap around the eye of the hook. A simple clinch-knot will undo especially with higher diameter fishing line where a improved clinch will not.

yep, regular clinch knot instead of the improved clinch knot. I have lost a lot of gear with this slipping. he needs to go back out the outer loop once. personally, Uni is better or Palomar. you can pass the uni through the eye twice as well

Глупость какая. Леска должна выходить с внутренней стороны крючка,зацепистость будет лучше. Простая восьмёрка и нафиг всякие премудрости. Зимой с внутренней стороны мормышки леску вдел на остриё петель накидал и все дела.

a fisherman's knot but you put two loops through the eye. that is actually handy because if you normally tie palomars the only go-to for a knot you have to tie without being able to go around the object is just an old fisherman's knot with a single loop unless you already know other knots. everyone knows the fisherman's knot so this simple variation is quite useful for a tougher version.

Great vid. HOWEVER. That knot works great for mono but it WILL slip out if you use it for braid. Especailly braid 30lbs or less. Trust me ive learned the hard way. Tied that same knot with my braid for years. Lost a few big fish that i thought broke the line.. it was the knot slipping. Uni or palomar for braid and the thinner the braid the more wraps you must do esp if youre tying the uni.

Nice,clean,sharp cut of line with fingernail clippers after tying knot. Easier to use in small places. Attach clippers to 36 inch loop of twine and hang around neck.Good luck.

We call this a trilene knot in the US because apparent Trilene fishing line used to have step-by-step instructions on the box.

Using a clinch knot with braid allows slippage..you need to use a double clinch..big difference.

This is pretty much the knot I was taught as a kid. Except I’ve never double looped the eye, and we always brought the tail back up through the top loop before tightening. Through the eye, back around the line three times, through the loop formed at the eye and back through the top loop, grab the end with your teeth and pull. I recently learned how to snell a hook thanks to RU-vid videos like yours. I’m 54 and had never learned it.
