I agree. 💯 They even got “Michael” beat in my opinion. I’ve yet to see anyone duplicate or even come close to their stair jump routine. 😂 Fred Astaire doesn’t even come close to that. 🤷🏽♀️
Les Twins!!!! Larry and Laurent Bourgeois are the closest that I have ever seen. They remind me of The Nicholas Brothers, and they're middle name's are even Nicholas!
This wasn't going to end any other way, except for Terrence getting schooled hard, by Sarge. Lol. 😂 A.k.a the awesome and phenomenal dancer Harold Nicholas. Of the superlegendary dancing duo, the Nicholas Brothers. RIP to Mr. Harold Nicholas. #Salute 👊👑💜❤🙏💯
Chuck Barksdale in heaven laughing his ass off saying , "That's was me as a youngster, fo' sure" Diahann Carroll one of the loveliest women on the planet, great addition to the stellar cast.
Chuck told a great story about how Robert originally came to The Dells for some research so the script could be more of a traditional comedy along the lines of his previous work. When they started telling Robert about what actually happened to them in the ’60s and what not, the comedy turned into a drama real fast.
To think sarge had nearly 60 years in the game when this movie came out him and his brother are not only legends but part of musical and dancing history for African Americans rip mr harold Nicholas aka sarge
Dresser: Man if you don't like I was doing, you could've come and talk to me, instead of going behind my back, Bringing in some old drunk.. Sarge: STOP RIGHT THERE, I don't let your mouth get you into something your ass, that can't get you out of! 😂😂🤣🤣
Hell it wouldn't even had to be that many year younger then this in the movie Tap which came out like a year or 2 before this movie and he was still doing his leap over people into a split then slide himself up move. Sarge would had taken a major L if that happen a little sooner
I saw dresser in the airport back in 2009. I yelled dresser!!! "He yelled back alright now!" To this day I don't know dresser's real name...just dresser.
I'll say this to what it is like to be schooled by the old school always willing to teach/give lessons to the new school facts RIP harold nicholas, diahann carroll and chuck patterson 😭😭😭😭
Harold nicholas was one of the baddest dancers i have ever seen. If he was a young lad in the 80s or even 90s i dont think even michael jackson or any beat street breakdancer had a chance.
The only other man I could see playing Sarge would be Sammy Davis Jr., but this was how many of us were introduced to Harold Nicholas of THE Nicholas Brothers.
To me, he was better than Sammy. 🤩 Go watch him and his brother do those staircase splits. 😜The Nicholas Brothers didn’t get the limelight Sammy did because they wouldn’t sellout to the establishment. One of their ex-wives talked about it in a documentary. They said they’d rather go work in the world than to let crooks use their talents to get rich. And Remember, SDJ was well known but still died broke. 😏 You gotta respect their stand!!! 🤷🏽♀️ That’s why TNB were mainly only seen in black films. This and Uptown Saturday Night are the only two films I can recall Harold playing in, besides the dance features he did when he was younger. He was a BEAST, but didn’t get the recognition because he refused to go along to get along. 😊
@@CodyCole80 I get your point of view, and although you may not care for Sammy and the route he chose to take, he was still a gifted and talented black man. He was the most talented man in that Rat Pack, even though Frank Sinatra got the most attention. Sammy will always have my respect and he wasn't just a dancer, he played multiple instruments, did comedy and impersonations which influenced a lot of our black comedians today, and a singer. The Nicholas Brother were amazing too, but we don't have to put down one of our brothers just to lift another brother up.
I never knew who he was until now, he was one of the famous Nicholas brothers and they were the most talented dancers in Hollywood🎬 in their time, also found out another fun fact that Harold married💍 the icon Dorothy Dandridge I'm just blown away 😊👌🏾
Dresser was doing the dance steps that most black soul groups did in the 60’s, those steps were common, tho sarge showed them grace, for soul music Sarge tap routine would be considered played out then.
Which was sad because those brothers from the previous era could really dance and I mean dance. The Nicholas Brothers and dancers like them such as Whitey's Lindy Hoppers were DANCERS. A lot of know it all young people back in the 60s funked it because they refused the guidance of old school pros like "Sarge". And he was right that routine of Dresser.wasn't shit.
@@geraldjohnson4013 Reminds me of how The Temptations used Cholly around l Atkins as their choreographer, which I always imagined this scene was based on. Also, The Sylvers used Cholly Atkins and Jaime Rogers.
Let's and gentlemen..I just found out today by watching an old video of The Nicholas Brothers. And this was one of them. History. You can learn something new everyday.
Batman was easy at that time twice their age and he still had major control and mental stability over every movement he made the shit was amazing the face he made while watching him dance was completely accurate
I gotta look up videos of his dancing. Thanks for this video and to those people who name-dropped in the comments below. There’s not enough appreciation for the arts especially for respected people of color. They’ll celebrate a terrible actress like Marilyn Monroe but I have to find out about Dorothy Dandridge through RU-vid comments. Better late than never. Thanks again.
You will not be disappointed .. The Nicholas Brothers tap dancing is absolutely breathtaking. The moves , the jumps , the pure athleticism .. Unbelievable ...!
