I remember listening to the radio for HOURS waiting for this song to come on so I could record it with my cassette tape recorder. Good times.

This song is just as relevant today as it was the day it was recorded.

I remember watching The Fixx videos on MTV in the 80s. Its amazing how much great music was released in the 80s. I'm so thankful I was young in the 80s and got to enjoy all this great music on MTV. Thankfully RU-vid was invented so I can still hear and watch those great music videos.

I'm an old school, raised in the 80's metal head but some of us who actually "feel" the music simply cannot deny a classic when we hear it! I jam this magnificence on the regular! Rock on my friends....

An absolutely incredible song. These guys were so good, and so underrated.

You know a song is powerfully written when it is able to embody the circumstances and sentiments of people within a society with such accuracy that the lyrics themselves could be applied just as easily to the sociopolitical issues about 36 years later. Epic poetry.

We saw them in Reno at a small bar on Grove Street in 1983 or 84. Man, they just about rocked that place to the ground. It was a special performance arranged by a local concert promoter and we lucked out, sitting in a booth 10 feet from the stage. Best concert of my life.

I always thought this song sounded so apocalyptic. An athem from the survivors. One of the best album covers of all time.

Okay, this is the fourth song I know just looking them up. The Fixx still has songs in rotation today, yet I feel like no one talks about them. "Underrated" get thrown around, but I think this applies to The Fixx 100%.

Saw these guys in 1983 at holender stadium rochester ny .they opened ,flock of seagulls ,then the police syncroniscity tour .they blew those other 2 acts out of the stadium 15$ a ticket 80s were great

I had just been stationed at DLI in Monterey, CA. I remember driving around Asilomar Beach at night listening to this. Getting out of my car, I could smell the ocean and garlic from Gilroy. Edit: Look at the words and apply to 2024. Prophetic much? Wow.🤯

I saw The Fixx on July 26, 2018 at The Rose in Pasadena, CA, and they were in top form. I was especially fixated on Jamie West-Oram on guitar and Dan K. Brown on bass during the entire set. Great musicians in a great band. Cy Curnin is a true frontman.

The Fixx gave a fixx in the 80’s, a way no one else can full fill!

I remember this song when it first presented on radio back in the mid 80's. Most people back then thought it just another dance like rock tune and most young people of that generation most likely had no real understanding of what the underlying meaning is of this song and it's deep political meaning and the concept of political and civil unrest. What was happening in that time that prompted such a song to have such a dark meaning? Same thing going on with Russia as it is now here in 2022. What does Russia have now that it has now? Nuclear weapons. The Cold War didn't end until 1991. In the 80's, the US was still in the Cold War with Russia. Our freedom and democracy was being challenged and under attack even then. Kids in school, myself included were required to view a film called Threads because tensions we're getting heated between Russia and the US. Well, deja Vu. Here we are again year 2022 and Putin is threatening the US, the world and freedom and democracy. The song had the same truth back in the 1980's as it does now today. It means we will stand and fight the good fight until the very bitter end. Everyone capable and able will pick up a weapon and they will fight. They and will fight or die doing so. We will stand or we will fall. To stand and fight the good fight or lay down and die are choices.

Pretty sure the lyric is "there will be no EXULTATION" (meaning there will not be a universal feeling or expression of great joy...which makes sense in the doomsday context of nuclear war) "Exaltation" means to elevate something or someone in esteem or authority
