The Flaming Ship of Ocracoke (North Carolina Ghost Story) told by Clint Lienau

It's said that on the night of the new moon each September, a strange and ghastly sight can be seen off of Ocracoke Island. There in the waters off the Outer Banks, each year on that one night, a phantom ship engulfed in flames floats silently by the island and disappears into the night. How this came to be takes us back to the early days of the North Carolina colony, to days of settlers and pirates, and to the reign of Queen Anne. Clint Lienau recounted the legend as part of Historic Interpretations' 2017 program, "Tarheel Tales from the Darkside." Filmed by J.R. Aiello.

Hey I know Clint! He was my dungeon master for a D&D campaign a while back! Also, this just popped up in my recommended. And I go on vacation with my family to the Outer Banks of North Carolina every September. The first two week of September. Fate is a mysterious thing.

Dude. No disrespect. I just can't get into D&D. But I knew this guy was into it. For the guy who narrated, I mean no offense. You did a great job. I'm from the Triad and adore NC history. I'm planning a trip to the outer banks, around this phenomenon. I go to South Port, do some fishing, cut up the Outer Banks at Raker's Island, Fort Fisher aquarium, and every other civil war/revolution memorial, get up to Ocracoke Island, and then see the Flaming Ship of Ocracoke. Then cut over, around Kitty Hawk(like I need to explain what that town has). This video was concise, but I believe the ship makes its annual death treble at the first harvest moon, around September. I do not think it is a specific date.
