we all know selena started in acting and it was/has always been her true passion, so i wasn't surprised when she said 'music was a hobby that got out of control' kinda iconic bc she was incredibly successful in her hobby! also i do miss getting new music from her but i'm all here for her as an actress, she's killing it
i loved selena’s droplet era and charli had an iconic one too with 5 in the morning, focus/no angel, girls night out and 1999 with the first three even having consistent cover art. I wish we saw droplets more often
if i'm not mistaken bad liar, fetish... were suppoused to be part of an album but because of life-threatening health issues selena had to put a stop to it
If Katy Perry had kept collaborating with Zedd or Charlie Puth (despite how I feel about him lol) or literally ANYONE else, she might’ve done alright. Just yeah, working with even lesser known producers and help kickstart their careers, doing smaller projects like these droplet eras you describe perfectly. She didn’t have to do a massive comeback rn if the “spark” isn’t there and that’s okay. This year has been the time for artists like Chappell Roan, Sabrina Carpenter, and Charli XCX, who have been in the game for years and are only just now getting their flowers and worldwide attention. It would’ve looked better for Katy to graciously step aside imo.
I love albums and having things together in my library- so I do hate droplet Eras -- but agree that it’s maybe a great tool for experimenting without compromising an album rollout and possibly Tour
i think that ariana’s droplet singles Monopoly, Boyfriend and stuck with u (plus rain on me and maybe even the live-album) could also qualify as an era. this was a fun time to be an ariana grande fan, because eventho she just dropped two albums within a year’s time from each other she continued to just release music that wasn’t connected to any new project of her. it ft kinda experimental too, but more in a way of pushing the boundaries of pop-release schedules. especially because she would continue with positions relatively shortly after.
tho it wasn't technically part of the droplet era but THE HEART WANTS WHAT IT WANTS is still a droplet to me and one of my favourite selena gomez songs
