On this day in 1983 {September 3rd} the Flirts performed "Jukebox (Don't Put Another Dime)" on the ABC-TV Saturday afternoon program, 'American Bandstand'... The year before on October 31st, 1982 "Jukebox" peaked at #28 {for 1 week} on Billboard's Hot Dance Club Play Songs chart... And on the same 'Bandstand' show the trio also performed "Telephone", the song was track one on side two from their 1983 album 'Born To Flirt'.. Between 1982 and 1986 the trio had seven records on the Dance Club Play Songs chart, two made the Top 10 with one reaching #1, "You and Me" for 1 week in 1985... Besides "You and Me", their other Top 10 record was "New Toy", it reached #5 in 1986...

Let's not over analyze this too much. It's a fun song with three attractive women performing and it's all good. I think Andrea has come back to the group and the ladies are doing package shows with other bands. The other two women are not around these days and have been replaced. Great tune. Great record. Great fun.
The blond, Andrea Delconte', sang the vocals for this in the studio. She left The Flirts a couple of years later and formed the group Andrea & Hot Minx. :-D Andrea and I worked together prior to her involvement with Bobby She's the reason I ended up recording for Bobcat.

I kept seeing all three sing, but heard only one voice....and the redhead turned away from the mic before she should have finished singing. But I still liked it! LOL!
Lip syncing in live performances like this use to be the norm and no one really expected otherwise so it wasn't a controversy. I just found out the story of this group, that it was kind of like Menudo and used session singers with various dancers or actresses on stage in performances. It's why the videos for all the other songs have different performers.
Where is Christie Muhaw in this video? RIP to her, due to a car accident when she was 24. This happened one year after appearing in the music video to White Lion's Wait.
This was before Christie Muhaw was involved with The Flirts. She was part of trio when the album, "Made In America" was released in 1984/1985. She was only involved with The Flirts for about a year and left to model. Look up Blix. She was the lead singer for that group although short lived. They had a popular song in Japan used for a commercial. Christie was later cast in the video, "Wait" from White Lion. She would be in a terrible car accident in March of 1989. Christie was pass a few days later. She was stunning, classy and very much a part of The Flirts legscy.
I love this song, but it's hilarious to watch 3 girls lip sync to an obvious one voice lyric, then watch the red head and brunette take turns lip synching to the same voice..but still..a great song.
