Love the small detail of how Dante is wearing a seatbelt in heavy traffic and Randal isn’t. Perfectly shows the difference between the two in one detail.
@@MrChadsimoneaux you are correct that his low pay caused issues but good news, they worked through those issues and clerks 3 is due out in a few months
i know its not feasible, but i wish this was a weekly series. Randell, Dante, Jay, and Silent Bob in any combination talking about anything. i miss them all.
Wish Brian O’Halloran and Jeff Anderson were weekly guests on his podcast, or would do a weekly audio sketch from Kevin Smith in character. Just something simple where they record their dialog at home and send it Kevin’s way where he could edit it together and we would get a special treat weekly...
I love how Randal always goes on tangents and Dante tries to stop him but somehow ends up playing along. It's brilliant writing and, as a character, you'd think Dante would know better after so many years, but I think he just humors him.
@@redfalcon9 I still think Clerks III was a pretty good end note. It wasn’t a great movie by any means, but it had a lot of heart behind it. Kevin didn’t want to just make another film with his heart and soul in it. He just wanted to dick around with his old friends the way it used to be
Me too I LOVE these guys. Been a huge fan since the Clerks Days. Plus I always jealous of the hairy bush nun in Jay and Silent Bob Strike back (😜😜). I had the hots for Jay and Silent Bob both. But the ongoing banter of these two hetero lifemates is great. They're berserker!!!!
Just try to imagine anyone else playing these roles. I can't. The chemistry, the way they deliver the lines, just the way they look. I can't possibly imagine anyone else being able to replicate this.
I think the way they act is on purpose. Maybe in clerks they were wet behind the ears but that is now the trademark acting for them. They can act I'm sure of it. But I'm sure Kevin says action I need that dry convo like you did for me in black and white. LoL. Nick cage is a worst actor. Lol
this is what made clerks so awesome... inane chatter. err... witty banter? Randall is facetious to the point of making Dante feel inadequate for being cautious and practical. I love it.
I remember the filming of this sketch; I was an extra in it. For about 3 seconds you can see my Mercury Sable in the very beginning in the right hand lane. I felt like a star that day! A bunch of folks showed up in Red Bank for it if I recall. Kevin and the crew were super nice. It was fun.
This was hilarious years ago, and it's still hilarious. I'm using this during road trips, I used to try and have this conversation with my friends in High School
I grew up on Abbott & Costello's classic comedy routines, and this had the feel of one of those, albeit with Kevin Smith's uniquely wonderful dialogue. I loved it!
Nasser Harbi What? You said Kevin writes the best dialogue ever, I just pointed out that he used "Could care less" instead of the correct way that is "couldn't care less" but I guess is accurate to portray morons talking crap, it was just a stupid observation by the way no need to take it seriously, I like Kevin and this video.
I probably shouldn't ever admit this publicly bc it makes my mom look awful, but Clerks has been one of my absolute favorite movies since I was a tiny, little kid. I have such a deep love for the movie and the characters, it's really nice to know that the peoole who were involved in the making of the movies, animated series, the whole thing, that they still really love it as well.
Just reacted to this for my channel to get even more hyped for Clerks 3! I forgot how hilarious and off the rails this conversation is! Kevin Smith does such a great job with dialogue. I could watch these characters in a car for a whole movie and never get bored!
I remember this from over 10 years ago and it's STILL comedic GOLD! 😂 Also, at 4:58-5:02, Dante's expression perfectly summarizes his entire relationship with Randall! 🤣
Kevin Smith after months of listening to you push The Flash I bought it on Amazon. In on the pilot fuck wow. Anything that starts this strong has to be epic
this was on the clerks 10th anniversary and thanks to this video I met my gf and a kid, I must thank you kev in for bringing us together by throwing our hats over the wall 😉
I feel like somehow these 6 minutes perfectly encapsulate all the many strange and wonderful conversations had with various people in my old green 95 Jeep Cherokee (from 2004 until it finally died just last year.) And that both alarms and pleases me in equal measure. 🤣
You sir are an inspiration, a concept that would otherwise be a foot note in any other conversation which you made last over 6 minutes. Bravo. Strength in little ideas. I'd love to see you and Tarantino each create a new character and have like a turned based battle of dialogue. Screw make it a series.
Are you kidding? Tarantino's dialogue mops the floor with Smiths. It's a joke to even compare the two unless the purpose is to point out that which is effective versus that which is contrived. The two examples are diametrically opposed.
Seriously Kevin a weekly or monthly short in the View Askewniverse would be absolutely amazing! I think it could get big, and it's exactly what fans want; not to mention I think it's what you excel at.
these guys seem to play their characters so naturally, I get the feeling this isn't too far off from any other day they improv their characters together..
I love Randal. He just so funny. Dante reminds me off thous ppl that bend their belives and thoughts to suit others. I Just hoped Jeff is like this in Real life would make filming days so much more fun
This is like at least 10 years old. Remember seeing this when I was in high school. Thanks for the laughs Mr. Smith. Can't wait for Mallrats 2 to be filmed in a mall 10 minutes from where I live.
Thanks, Now and Forever, Kevin Smith, for Clerks. That movie changed comedy for the better and has continued to inspire millions of fans and writers across the globe. Thank you for Legion M. I am proud to be an investor and would love to someday meet you and just shake your hand or blaze a J. When Clerks was released, I had to see it at a local cinema that only featured independent films and still used reel-to-reel. My friend and I could not stop laughing through the whole film and stayed for the next showing( paying for it of course) just so we could repeat all the jokes and tell our friends. When it finally made it to VHS, we held a screening at our apartment, got blazed and, for some reason, my buddy and I were the only ones who laughed. The rest of our gang just didn't get it. Maybe because they had never worked at a gas/convenience store? Maybe they couldn't mentally process the humor? Or maybe they were just assholes because I haven't seen them in 23 years. In celebration of Clerks, I help my Legion M meetup at the same theater that I viewed Clerks in some 23 yrs earlier as an homage to your awesomeness. Thanks again, Kev!! You changed the world for the better. GO LEGION M!!!
I remember this from years ago great skit Kevin and Co. You have some influence over our work and are happy to see you make your own channel for random madness Keep the skits coming if you can.
You know characters are good when they can make a 7 minute short about 2 guys talking about chopping their legs for a flying car and make it extremely interesting
I'm 22. ..and I don't know if Kevin Smith influenced how me and my friends talk to one another...or if Kevin Smith tapped into something that is so in touch with how people like us talk.
We've had working flying cars since 1947 (with a roughly 2 year hiatus in there after some crashes and before the next ones were up and running). The first working flying car was the Convair Model 118 ConvAirCar . If you've ever been out in traffic and seen other drivers, you should be able to easily recognize that flying cars for everyone is about as bad an idea as you can possibly have. And it's "couldn't care less", not "could care less".
Those aren't flying cars. Those are simply planes that can drive. But the concept is wrong. The jetsons didn't have flying cars. They were floating or levitating cars. They didn't have wings.
I actually came here to say this. Also, another thing holding back the flying car: In order to have one, you would need both a driver's license and a pilot's license, with the latter being harder and more expensive to obtain.
thank you, Kevin. I didn't realize these guys could still do those two characters. Been so long sets clerks 2. I know will never see another clerks or Jay and silent Bob movie so this was a nice little touch.
