In 1998 a panel of Journalists came up with a list of the 100 greatest Footballers of the 20th Century representing both the Football League (the oldest league in the United Kingdom) and the Premier League. 34 of these Footballers played prior to WWII and Sam Hardy was one of them - arguably one of the greatest Goalkeepers not to be yet enshrined in the Hall of Fame.
