At 7am on October 21st 2015 Alex, Sharon and Lyra Shaw immediately watched the Force Awakens trailer that had aired in the night. This is their honest reaction.
Left: Cautious Skepticism with a hint of optimism. Middle: Unrestricted excitement and Joy. Right: Nostalgic indulgence and intense, sporadic happiness. Basically everything I felt at once while watching this trailer myself for the first time.
You have a new subscriber after I watched that. Genuine reaction video and your little girls face said it all about the magic of Star Wars. Awesome job guys!
Love this reaction video. The daughter never takes her eyes off the screen. The dads excitement builds throughout the trailer and you can see him getting more and more emotional. The mom shows no reactions until the moment Han Solo comes on the screen and then the big smile breaks out. LOL!
I love seeing all the guys tear up over this trailer. You can really tell the true fans who gets up loving all of these movies, the could city theme always gets me. I've seen the movie and the trailer still gives me goosebumps!
Lyra shows how each of us old-timers feel about the trailer, and Alex with his "Could it be possible, this time it will be great?" visage - epic win!!! Thanks to all :)
I didn't know you guys did reaction videos. And it only took two years for it to pop up on my RU-vid recommendations. But I gotta say, it was worth the wait; I loved it!
+megatron1384 Thanks Megatron. This is still my favourte trailer. Oh hey if you've not heard it yet we did a bunch of Transformers shows and the one on Prime was particularly enthusiastic. Check them out. -Alex
You know wether this will live up to expectations or not..I expect this film to be a fun ride..with involving characters..I trust in Abrams to set the trend and deliver...episode 8 and 9 will have pretty good directors as well..
+Rhoderian Gadia exactly. even if this disappoints and doesn't live up to the glory of the original trilogy, it would most probably still be a lot better than the prequels
The little girl's reaction is priceless. Shame she chose that moment, when the shots were coming thick and fast, to drink her milk - she probably missed half of the shots.
+Ben Hayes Short version: Later, if the patreon brings in more people. Long version: We should probably do an explanatory video about that. The first four were made to see if we could do a video series and how much time and effort it would take per week, AND if they could be juggled with New Century and the podcast. It was VERY stressful, my writing slipped back down the priorities and ended up endangering the flow of New Century. Also, to make the recording look better and be less stop/start/stop/start we need to be living in a quieter, lighter house, which, by next summer we should be. But we've also made it a stretch goal of the patreon because of the sheer amount of work involved. If we're going to do these as well as everything else we put out every month then we need to be bringing in more to make it worth the stress and reduce the requirement for finding freelance work to make ends meet.
+Digital Drift Well I'll have to try harder as a patreon and do my part by spreading the word to more people of the truly brilliant wok the Digital Drift team can deliver.
+Ben Hayes Have you seen my wok? It is indeed beautiful. Do not worry about not being a good enough patron. Every single one of you is doing a fantastic job supporting me. This is just a matter of numbers. We need more people to jump aboard. And I need to get better at marketing that wok of mine.
+Aaron Xiao Anyone might die. I don't want to speculate until we see it. But rest assured, once we have we'll be doing an all-out, guns-blazing episode.
+BlockABoots Completely different production team. Completely different ethic. If anything they're using the prequels as perfect reverse-yardsticks for what NOT to do. Being cautious and guarded is absolutely natural at this stage, but Sharon and I can't shut ourselves off and refuse to be excited or hopeful.
+BlockABoots there's no way in HELL these movies can suck as bad as the prequels. Sure, they might not be the best. They might even be weak or relatively disappointing. But even the worst case scenario is a thousand times better than anything done in the prequels. Regardless of how this holds up as a film - it is almost guaranteed to be to be highly entertaining - at the least.
+BlockABoots notwithstanding your disillusions, for sure you will go to see it ... Because hope is stronger than delusion... and this film is really A New Hope ;D
