I immediately recognized Mark’s voice from Soft White Underbelly and got teary eyed. His channel along with yours have impacted me so much that having this crossover hit me hard. Thank you for shining a light on this aspect of this case. It breaks my heart that addicts are painted as inherently immoral; almost non-human and not deserving of any empathy whatsoever. Thank you for showing their humanity. Keep up the great work, dude ❤️

well, said. As a drug addict and alcoholic now living clean and sober I can verify what you say. People treat us like "a waste of carbon" but have no idea (or don't care) about the trauma inflicted upon a person to cause them to hurt themselves day after day after day. I work with AA and NA to help people rediscover their worth and it's the first step in a long long line of steps to recover and truly live free again. Soft white underbelly is also a great channel, please heck him out.

@@randomnetfiend absolutely! It’s absolutely heart breaking when people I thought loved and supported me as a person started pulling away from me once they found out I had secretly been struggling with addiction for years but I was now working on getting clean. I lost so many people who I thought were my family and it broke my freaking heart. However, those who truly loved me never let me struggle or feel unloved the second they found out my struggles. September 2nd I celebrated 8 years clean. I’m now in college working on my bachelors in case management so I can help other addicts get help and realize there is life after getting clean and it is absolutely glorious. If I can do it then anyone can.

I really respect how you treated substance abuse and addiction in this part of the case. As someone currently going through that hell that's so accurately visualized in this video, I wanted to say it's heart warming not everyone views addicts as a waste to society, inherently evil, and morally bankrupt. I didn't expect to feel such a personally emotional response to this video - very well made and quality content that I hope to see more of! Thank you!

This is probably the sixth of your videos I've watched, and I've been meaning to comment since the first one. Your documentaries are fantastic, among the best I've seen in the true crime genre, and that includes the guy who has troubled swimming. You take a wider view of each crime, and present us with a lot more information in a style that's engaging and really informative. Your narration style is fantastic, and I love your use of background music and audio, which sets the mood brilliantly. As others have stated, it really won't be long, hopefully, until this channel really booms. Please keep up the good work, your videos are excellent.

As always, worth the wait!! I had no clue about Kayla. I hope she is healing. One suggestion- maybe the lower the volume of the music under the interviews? It’s pretty loud and sometimes makes it harder to hear the subjects.
@LPRPresents
@LPRPresents 3 года назад
Ahhh yes. I chose the music over the poor audio in all the interviews. Even cleaned up the popping and oscillating pitch of the fans made the interview heavy edits sound horrible. In most cases Todd was barely audible over the artifacts, while the interviewers sounded blown out. It was the lesser of two evils. It’s also why I transcribed and hard coded Todd’s audio subtitles. I may have missed a couple uhmms and couldn’t quite make out a few words, and had hoped that this episode atleast, would be dominantly watched, not listened. It’s still a work in progress, and I know I have tons of room to improve. Please don’t stop with feedback, as I truly appreciate it and most suggestions I keep front of mind during production :)

Good morning Darren , I find myself having to watch this in segments . I have to walk away for a few moments . It’s blood pressure raising . Chris Watts snapped . That I feel is the open and shut of it . But , this guy is so evil that While I was listening to his conversation , if that’s what you want to call it , my hands started to sweat ! The addiction segment , is heart pumping . Unfortunately , so little is mentioned about the children produced out of addiction. There are so many damaged people . I have been a big fan of Mark , Soft White Underbelly . He is an awesome person ! Well , I am halfway through the film . You are fab. !!
@LPRPresents
@LPRPresents 3 года назад
I thought about including the children, but they have escaped the headlines, and although I was able to uncover quite a bit about them, I opted to leave them out for fear of drawing them back into something they can forget. Last I could confirm, they are living with family, and are in safe, capable and very loving hands.
@diamondj3869
@diamondj3869 3 года назад
Hi Darren , I hope you don’t think I implied YOU don’t mention the children . I guess what I was thinking is that there are so many people that suffer the consequences of parents of addictions . Just pondering the recent shooting in Colorado . I don’t know the facts , but , maybe there was no motive . ? I finished the film . I felt it in my stomach. What surprised me was Kala’s calmness when they were cutting her chains . I’m sure you did check on the welfare of the children . You have a depth of heart that is incomparable. I’m glad you’re you ! I look so forward to the season finale ! Until then , stay well . Jane A

Thank you so much!! I’m also so glad you asked. I couldn’t use it in the episode as I couldn’t properly verify much of it, but Kaila is definitely suspect. It’s been suggested by some of the local community I spoke with that TK and Kaila were involved, and that they had been planning a sort of Bonnie and Clyde tour across America. If I’m ever able to confidently support these claims/allegations, I will definitely be making a follow up ;)

I can’t prove it in any way, but I always thought he tried for insanity. To me, his after arrest claims seemed targeted at 2 things, building clout for the clink, and setting the stage for insanity. I hate to say it, but he was probably too smart for his own good and talked himself out of any chance for an insanity plea. Maybe.

I thought about including all his strange ramblings in the episode but wanted to focus on what was known and confirmed. I have been thinking about returning to TK in a follow up episode where I would touch on his Bonnie amd Clyde fantasies with Kala and her apparent excitement to do so, all the cloak and dagger meetings they had and Kalas own tumultuous background…. My only hesitation is that it is mostly speculation and you are right, Todd can’t necessarily be trusted, especially after his play for clout behind bars. I’d be interested in hearing your memories of how it all went down, how you and your family felt about it, the buzz around town during and after, if you have the time! Thank you for watching!

@@sonyfan1612 I DEFINITELY don't like what he did to his victims but other than that he seemed like a decent guy.

Addiction doesnt make people into robots that has to follow along with what their addiction is telling them to do. Nor does addiction rob them of their own agency, if we take oxycontin as an example, its a pill that has a slow release function of opiates to dull pain, in clinical test settings where the test subjects were just given a pill and then report back on how they experienced their own pain it got a lot better with almost no side effects and no addiction. Most people who get addicted to those drugs knows perfectly well what they are doing, taking more then they should because they are after the buzz more then getting rid of the pain, you dont think those who get oxycontin crushes it into a fine powder and then snort it to get a "better" effect know wnat they are doing, what about those who crushes it and dissolves it into a liquid and then inject it know what they are doing? They know they are misusing the drug but they dont care, not because they are addicted, but because they arent after getting rid of the pain, they want to feel good too, and that is the problem. Most people who take oxycontin can work, and live a perfectly normal life without any adverse effects almost if they use the drug as its prescribed. It just makes the pain less intolerable, sure taking it for a long time will get you addicted but very very mildly so because the dose is so incredibly small, if you only want to be able to function like a normal person while you are in pain. Those who do get addicted to it for real, knows exactly what they are doing so i wouldnt blame the medical company for it. That is like blaming the water utility company for those who drown in their own homes, or blaming the electrical utility company for those who accidentially electrocutes themselves. That is like blaming scarf manufacturers for the death of everyone who got strangled with a scarf. But those examples doesnt give it justice really, because they are poor examples. A far better example would be blaming glue companies for all those who ruins their brain by sniffing glue. They are using a product in a way it was not intended to be used in the first place. Maybe a perect example would be with alcohol, you never hear of anyone that drank 2 beers a day get addicted to alcohol, because that doesnt happen, those who gets addicted to alcohol knows perfectly well what they are doing. They know they are drinking more then they should, so they drink more then they should over a long period of time and one day they wake up and cant live without it. So at first i gave this an upvote, but now after watching it you get a downvote, not because you werent correct but because you willingly lied to try to sway the audience in one way or another.

I know addiction. Furthermore, I was very careful to not draw opinion on ANY form of addiction. I am sorry you missed the message.
