The circle there dad was buried under also is the elemental sign. The circle with the cross through it indicates they are about to head home to bonkers town
@@paxw37 I feel like I should also point out that around the scene were finn is flying before meeting princess bubblegum and the scene where princesses head get huge with the teeth bit *shudders*..... If you look closley in the back ground of those scenes you can see some weird forshadowing with elemental magic. You can see elemental landscape transmutation going on in the back ground. Go back and look
My favorite part was how when they met nightmare princess everything was dark and macabre but you somehow got the sense that she was actually friendly. Kind of a wholesome lil plot point.
Im honestly shocked they added Nightmare Princess a character from the Secret of the Nameless Kingdom game. Makes me wonder if they could have added characters from the books and comics into the show if they wanted too
It was interesting to see Life in Together Again, as she had appeared only one other time, but only in one of the Frog Season shorts, not even a full episode. Just kinda shows that they commit to their character designs and choices, even if they first appeared in some side thing and not the main series.
haven't seen anyone commenting this so I guess I will: BMO saying "come and see" to the cloud basically sets up foreshadowing to the max. as its maybe one of the most quotable lines form the book of revelations "and the beast with the four heads sang "come and see" and behold...." enter the 4 horsemen of the apocalypse.
Wow, very interesting, I never picked up on that! There's even more biblical stuff in this episode alone. I didn't point it out, but when Jake is having his dream sequence, there is the Ark of the Covenant in the kitchen. So cool
The crab pincer scene could also be a nod to the episode, You Forgot Your Floaties as a representation of the nonsensical aspect of magic that Nightmare Princess showcases.
I love the deep, metaphorical analysis of everything in this episode! I've never really thought of this episode as one that makes you think as much as something like Hall of Egress, but I completely agree that it shows you a lot about the subconsciousness and fears of Finn, Jake, and BMO, and it's always fun to have an episode with the dynamic of the three, especially this late into the show. It just goes to show that every episode of Adventure Time is special and worthy to be admired.
Agreed! I feel like, because it's later in the series, it doesn't get as much recognition as episodes like Hall of Egress. I feel like it's super underrated!!
This and Abstract are 2 of my all time favorite episodes, or rather the use of Dream Logic as a whole throughout the series. I can't think of many other shows or movies that do this so well. My only nitpick is that i wish there was an episode in between Orb and Skyhooks, and in general I wish season 10 had a couple more lighter episodes, because the pacing is so fast it all wraps up before you know it. Oh well, at least it won't be too much longer before the Fiona and Cake series.
@@2cozy.You probably won't like this then, since it's focused around Fiona, Cake, and Simon. That doesn't mean F and J won't show up, but the premise seems to be about the Cosmic Imagination premise and how Simon as Ice King tapped into it.
Agreed. I love these deeper episodes with a ton of symbolism. I love Abstract too!!! Yeah, if I remember correctly, when Orb came out it was supposed to be in Season 8, but the crew got news that they were done by Season 10, so they had to rewrite the story and rush things. Sucks to see stuff like that happen. And same, I can't wait!!!
i feel like the grass is symbolizinng fern as he cant move in front of P.B. He feels like fern would be better and whenever he tries his best, he feels like someone else like him (fern) will always win at whatever fin wants
i disagree for a reason as fern is a younger version of finn one who didn't grow so finn worry about him alot it is like taking care of a baby who loves playing with knives fern is here really to show what has our finn come to and how he deals with stuff now so no finn doesn't think that fern is better in fact he doesn't want him to be like his past self especially now when every body has already grown just that nothing else fern is basically a younger brother to finn
Love the random Tree Of Life carpet in Jakes dream. It adds an interesting lvl to everything you said. All the points you made actually make me love this episode all the more ^.^
Right? It's such a cool little detail. I didn't mention it in the video, but during Jake's dream sequence, there's even an Ark of the Covenant. So cool!
The cosmic owl episode (the hoots)did the same. When the female bird (Gunther) turns their dreams into a nightmare (I thought she was the nightmare princess), those things come true because cosmic owl is there. Such as pbs candy people turning against her and fins dream too.
The amount of foreshadowing in this episode that went over my head. This episode was the best transitional episode into an Adventure Time arc and more to come. We got so many glimpses like the night sword, warren ambersand, fucking Golb, and the elementals of course foreshadowed not once, not twice, but 3 times
I watched this episode on a tremendous amount of LSD (first time doing it) and it was quite literally one of the most significant moments in my life. The episode clearly conveyed the meaning of existence to me - I'm not sure if that was the writers intention 😆
Don't rule it out, the writers know what's up. You need to watch the series on all sorts of state's of altered consciousness to get the breadth of what they're converting.
Maybe one of the writers liked the old story "The Footprints on the Ceiling" (1939) and did a ref from it. Good analysis btw! This is one of my fav episodes!
Right? So much stuff about Adventure Time that I never would have picked up on as a kid. I'm so glad I started to rewatch it as I got older. I agree, it's way more than just a kids cartoon
This was a really great one!! I dig the actual episode analysis instead of just summarizing an aspect of the lore, that's why I subbed in the first place. Glad to see you prefer this kind of video too.
@paxw37 That was supposed to be in the family home. Margaret and Joshua have a kinda 1920s aesthetic. Their office has a 1920s ticker tape stock ticker, their accent and Joshua's hat are what you'd hear and see in 1940s gumshoe detective movies set in the 1920s or based on novels set in the 1920s like The Maltese Falcon. Margaret is probably based on a flapper. So tl;dr probably an extension of their faux 1920s aesthetic.
My guess is that a lot of the but we don’t understand that clearly have intent- are from episodes that either were taken down because they didn’t actually like the idea or were part of the original finale
Also, could there be a connection between Nightmare Princess and the Nightosphere? Could Hunson Abadeer have stolen that pendant to take over the Nightosphere?
@paxw37 it only really occurred to me when I saw the Night Sword again, with its singular eye. And maybe the demons of the Nightosphere expell bananas because they were supposed to be her food and now it's just "the stuff" to them. I also wonder if it's possible she works for or alongside the Cosmic Owl
@@CinnamonGrrlErin1 Hmmm that's interesting that you bring that up. Very well could be. And yeah I thought that too cause the dream sequence is prophetic. There is a ton of stuff in the dream that tell us what's about to happen in the Elements mini-series and yet, we don't see the Cosmic Owl. Interesing...
9:38 i thought that looked like the mars dome but in the dream its on the moon. my only thought why is anytime they used the teleported and went to mars it was as if it was so close that it was on the moon instead
Just a question, doesn’t Jake find out about Warren (his alien father) later in the series? Because until season 10 he never knew about his birth (“and so they never told me”). This makes me guess that his problems with his mother didn’t involve the fact that she wasn’t his birth mother
Yeah you bring up a great point. Although we learn about Warren in season 6, Jake doesn't learn about Warren until season 10. Which is also after this "Orb" episode. So you're right. Thanks for bringing that up! It totally went over my head
I'm glad I grew up with adventure time recently rewatched whole main series and the spin offs i was 9 almost 10 when adventure time come out it will always be my favourite cartoon and show
maybe the footsteps is about trying to follow someone in their footsteps, but in Jake's case it's non-sensical because he doesn't know wich parent or who else and if that's even what he should do so it just dances around abover him, in sight but not in simple reach (strech powers aside) like a question of "do I get a ladder for this or not?"
Yeah I think this makes sense. That scene confused me so much but I think this makes a lot of sense. Especially because he's confused about his birth at this point too. He didn't know how he was born until season 10, so this lines up even more with what you said. I agree with you!!!
Hii I have a explanation of the footprint on the celing!! So I went and Google’s what it meant in dreams and this is what showed up: “Dreaming of black footprints on the ceiling often symbolizes a feeling of being watched or followed, and can be a sign that something in your life is draining your energy and emotions.” This becomes clear that the footprint represent Warren Ampersand following Jake and ends up tricking him into a situation where warren is able to drain jakes energy and emotions
We got updates for the Fionna and Cake spin off series at the Annecy Film Festival. We had our first look. Please look it up. Who is excited? I am excited obviously. Fionna and Cake stories are underdeveloped. Hopefully Finn and Jake will make appearances in it too. Maybe even meet Fiona and Cake too via multiverse. It will be like Adventure Time's version of Spider Man No Way Home. What you think?
I'm super excited, especially after rewatching the main series again. I hope that red beam that shoots F and C stories into Ice King's brain gets explained
With Together again being their send off i'm wondering if they'll actually appear🤔 Maybe they will but they're gonna be alternate versions, and not the main finn and jake
@orbboom6119 I think if they do appear it will just be cameos. Partially because I think the writers want to explore different angles of Ooo, and I think Jeremy Shada may not want to continue voicing Finn (and I doubt they'd recast him)
@@orbboom6119 No it has to be the main Finn and Jake because from the looks of Simon in the poster, looks like it will take set before Together Again and after Come Along With Me. In 1000 years into the future, Simon would have died. So yeah, main Finn and Jake it is
BMO uses both she/her and he/him. he's referred to himself as a boy and a girl before. jake junior used she/her for BMO in one episode, so id take that as the writers saying its okay to use both. his voice actress is a woman.
BMOs gender is confusing at times (which is totally fine, I love whatever he's got going on. It's precious), but he goes by "he", I'm pretty sure. I think my view of it is best summed up by the song where he asks himself how got so pregnant
This is one of my fave episodes, and in general one of my fave things about Adventure Time, which is how well they nail dream sequences, in a way where pretty much all other shows fall short. One clue that wasn't brought up, is that the "X" Joshua draws on the kitchen floor is the symbol for the 4 elements.
