When I found out about the Tails Doll Curse, I was less scared and more bizarrely curious. Never got to doing it since my family was almost never asleep by 11 p.m. (the version of the Creepypasta I knew of had that as a requirement) and I was too hesitant the two chances I did get. I think I'll try it for kicks sometime soon. Not like it works anyway. Edit: Forgot to update this when I tried it. It was weirdly fun, but didn't work. Guess this comment wasn't my last words.

Tails Doll design is quite clever; with Sonic and Knuckles Eggman thinks of them as perfect blueprints for his machines as seen with Metal Sonic and Metal Knuckles, but Tails? Eggman just slapped the basic machine on a doll he uses at shooting range and called it a day. (Although it's strange that the doll is capable of raising its arms when victorious)

Oh man, the nostalgia here hit me like a truck with this video... Sonic was probably the first video game series I ever got into and when I found the tails doll it SPOOKED me to the core yet I also kept playing and wanting to know more. I played tail's nightmare SO many times back in the day and on a first playthrough that jumpscare got me so bad... All the creepypasta gameplays alongside the ones of Pinkamina Diane Pie I was watching at the time kept me WAY up into the night and now as somebody who's grown up to LOVE horror looking back on this gives me a weird yet cozy feeling of how far I've come. Maybe it's cause I was in a dark place at the time I got into those things and as I grew up they stayed with me despite how drastically much my life changed over the year? I don't know... Either way, this is a great video and unlocked a lot of both nostalgic yet horrifying memories for me. I also got the original Archie comic where the tails doll first appeared in Sonic Universe almost immediately after finding out about him online playing bootleg Sonic games. At the time the coincidence terrified me but now it makes me laugh at how great the timing was. Hope anyone who actually reads this comic enjoys the story! (maybe I'll make a video about it one day...)

I'm so glad I know someone with such a similar story as yours, my older brother thought it would be funny to introduce me to sonic.exe when I was 6-7 just to scare me as a joke, ended up making me afraid of my sonic plushies, making me not touch any of my sonic games, and completely loose intrest for several years

Considering the part of its bio: "As a last resort, Eggman manufactured this to catch Sonic unprepared. This, except for the power plant embedded in its head, is a mere stuffed animal." I think the Tails Doll itself is meant to be a funny joke or reference to Tails as a character. During the Genesis era, Tails's gameplay was sort of an afterthought compared to Sonic and Knuckles. In the original Sonic 2, despite him even being introduced and shown to fly when you play as Sonic & Tails, you cannot fly as Tails when you're playing as him solo. In Sonic & Knuckles, Tails is completely omitted from the game in place of Knuckles. And fully in S3&K, Knuckles has his own level routes to go through, whereas Tails sort of just apes Sonic's levels but doesn't even get to end the game with Doomsday. And let's not forget that he needed the Super Emeralds -just- to go Super unlike Sonic or Knuckles. Even in Sonic R, Knuckles got a Metal copy like Sonic. Tails Doll's bio is a joke that Tails is such an afterthought, that even his replica is an afterthought. But it also symbolizes that compared to Sonic and Knuckles, he's still a little kid who will grow into a strong person like those two that Eggman will be forced to acknowledge. (Such character growth that we would later see in the Adventure games, but uhhh... he's sort of regressed, huh?)

Interestingly, the official Sonic Twitter shows to acknowledge the Tails Doll’s existence as if you go on to their twitter page, you’ll get a made-up book cover of a story featuring the Tails Doll with text on top of the image saying “Spoiler: Tails dies at the end.” So it’s likely that not even Sega has forgotten about the Tails Doll.

As someone who didn’t grow up with the creepypasta stuff, it was really weird seeing everyone scared of the tails doll. I just find him really dopey and pretty endearing. For me it’s like being scared of the Yellowhead costume in the original Little Big Planet.

The Tails Doll scared me so much growing up, you have no idea. My brother teased about buying me one for Christmas and it brought me to literal tears. I remember, I was walking to the kitchen in the dark at night. And there was a red light in my kitchen. I knew it was my mother’s phone charger, but the ‘what If’ played in my head. What if... it was the tAiLs DoLl. So I ran to the kitchen’s light switch. Underneath said light switch were 8 wine bottles that my family has been collecting for over 50 years. Guess who bodyslammed into the rack and broke all of them. Yeah, that was a hard one to explain.

This legit happened to me once: Many years ago for Christmas I got the Sonic Gems Collection, and after I was done with Sonic CD, I decided to play Sonic R, with Tails Doll being the first character I unlocked. I then used him to get all the Chaos Emeralds so I could unlock Super Sonic, so I could then unlock everyone else. Beat the whole game in roughly an hour plus (counting bathroom breaks and such). That night, after I went to bed, I had a dream where I was in a large black void with a singular light hovering just above me, then suddenly, I kid you not, the Tails Doll materialized right in front of me, said "Thank you for playing with me," then disappeared. I didn't learn of the existence of any of those Tails Doll creepypastas for another FIVE YEARS.

I once had a dream with this guy in it. I wasn't a typical nightmare, and I've gotten over this fear. All I remember was that I was in a house in the middle of foggy nowhere when I look out my window and Tails Doll was there. We made eye contact, as he just floated there. The doll then tried to get in by throwing itself at the window. It was glass so he bounced off. And then he flew away over the hill and disappeared.

It would be kind of funny if we come to find out Tails Doll is just tails from some effed up eldritch horror version of Mobius and he's actually the hero there, and what we see as creepy is just the emotional damage he's suffered and quietly deals with and all he wants is just to find peace and be loved.

this video for me is _incredibly_ vindicating, because tails' nightmare is what introduced me to the doll when i was around 7 and i had the _exact_ same experience of seeing that ending without hearing the audio after they popped up behind tails and the screen went black and it lived in my nightmares seeing it with audio a couple of years later was so _ridiculous_ and i have to wonder how much terror i would've been spared if i knew tails just gets annoyed and beats him up after it fades to black ! hearing someone in a video with this many views mention the exact same thing feels incredibly cathartic

Making Tails Doll a Mimikyu like creature should honestly be another thing they should do, little abomination hides in the doll and wants to be Sonic's friend.

I remember another version of the creepypasta being told to me by a friend (being more of a sonic fan than me at the time ) when i was a kid. It was basically about a kid who spent a whole night trying to unlock the tails doll character, but by the next morning when his mom goes to his room, she founds him dead. Next week, His parents give away the console and games to his best friend and when he checks it out, he finds out that the kid had just unlocked the Tails Doll character. So, definitely more credible than the original. This was the first time i hear about the original creepypasta.

To be fair, Sonic has ALWAYS been portrayed as "2Cool4School", heck that was literally his whole gimmick of being more cool than Mario.

Actually, around 2008-2009 I had discovered an online story about a man discovering the tails doll in a dumpster or something. Unfortunately most sonic websites I used to frequent are completely gone, so I can’t exactly figure out when/where the story was published. He sort of became an obscure icon of the fan base alongside other characters. The whole “scary tails doll” idea had been in the fandom far before anything like Sonic.exe kicked off

I can appreciate the clear effort and love for the Tails Doll you put in this video. But the way you structured it is a bit misleading, no offense. When mentioning creepypasta you start with Sonic.exe which implies that Sonic.exe (which came out around 2012) came before. The Tails Doll curse 100% began in the 2000's as evidenced by numerous deviantart drawings, it being featured in Sonic Shorts 2 in 2008, and the mid 2000's quacker and bowen site "Tails from the Crypt" which you used in your video. I know in previous instances you mention youtube amvs, the 2008 Newgrounds flash game "Tails' Nightmare" and how this was apart of your childhood; but to younger viewers who didn't live through this stuff like we did, the references are not enough to explicitly state the timeframe. I find this important to point out because Sonic.exe (for better or for worse) is a culmination of tropes from early creepypasta forerunners like Tails Doll. So to structure it in a way that somehow attributes Sonic.exe as somehow being a fresh take when creepypasta as a term had been already established in the mid to late 2000's is muddying the already not well documented history of Tails Doll and creepypasta on the internet. I still must thank you for bringing this topic to the light of new people, I only wish that you had made it more clear how much of a seasoned contributor Tails Doll was to creepypasta and internet culture. I don't understand how people complain about the other characters. I LOVE playing as the others. Honestly, usually don't even like playing as Sonic...to be completely honest... I love Sonic, don't get me wrong, but it's fun to use the other characters' abilities!!
