This may or may not be an Easter Egg, but when Coach gets jumped by a Jockey, he sometimes says, "Ellis, that you? What the hell!" This implies that Ellis, with some amount of frequency, randomly jumps up on Coach's back, which I find wholesome
@7:42 there's also the sign warning people of gator infested waters, the community made it VERY clear to the devs that there were in fact no gators in the water. So what they did is they added a inflatable gator to the right side near the boat house fence.
another easter egg towards the gator waters can be found in the concert. some of the midnight riders props. mostly the drummer cases include stickers that say "i survived Earl's gator village" a clear foreshadowing of the chapter that comes next
You missed a great one in the Passing. Play as coach, and go up through the apartments. One of the rooms had a bed with an open suitcase with some guns and cash. Coach will (on extremely rare occasion) sing very loudly and excitedly “suitcase full of pistols and moonnaayyy!!!” Which is a line in the Midnight Riders song.
It’s a fun Easter egg for sure, but it’s by no means rare. Every L4D2 survivor has a line that plays for it if they’re the first one to walk up to it. Rochelle asks Nick if the suitcase is his, Nick comments that he likes the way the owner packs, and Coach sings the Midnight Riders song. I forget what Ellis says, but I’m pretty sure he has a line about it too.
You forgot a few Easter Eggs in the passing. In the Passing Chapter 2 If you continue into the bar after you see The Midnight Riders Tour Bus you go into the pool room and you'll see signatures from protagonists from other zombie games and movies. If you proceed upstairs you'll see a small room containing a suit case with cash and pistols. This is a reference to The Midnight Riders song "One Bad Man" from the opening lyrics as followed "Well, I'm a half ton son of a gun, with a suitcase full of pistols and money" Later in chapter 2, if you proceed to the Under The River Tour, Nick will comment about the pricing of the tour by saying "$7 for a GD under the river tour? Well played, Rayford. Well played." This is a reference to the people at Microsoft who instead of giving the DLC for free as intended, Microsoft charged their users $7 to purchase the DLC.
Also, Whittaker is infected in this campaign as the "fallen survivor" zombie. He can be seen running away from the player and protagonist's saying: "What's that zombie got?" "Stop that zombie!"
@@sethmoroni No, because Whittaker is back at where Dead Center was, he's an individual and not a multitude, and the survivors drove a race car at least until night fell.
@@DrivewayToad That and the skulls around in possible (though likely not) reference to the famous “blood for the blood god, skulls for the skull throne” chant. A better link is the name of “Hell’s Legion” with the chaos space marine factions being called traitor legions and the most famous being the Black Legion, who are undivided in terms of which god they serve which the symbol for is the basic 8 pointed star.
There's another part to the first Easter egg in The Last Stand that you may have missed! If you interact with the keyboard on the desk, you can pick up a golden Crowbar; assuming you don't have any mods that change the crowbar model. There are also a golden crowbar hidden in every survival map and finding all of them gets you an achievement. Just wanted to add that last bit!
Another great one many people have never seen, some of the opening posters in L4D2 are actually plastered over some of the posters from L4D1; some include dark carnival covering blood harvest, and a Dead air in print next to the poster of dead center
Fact about the "Bill is dead" EE @ 3:26. I believe it is a reference to the "Paul is dead" conspiracy theory where (according to some people) Paul McCartney of The Beatles actually died sometime in the 1960s and some of their songs have portions where if reversed actually say "Paul is Dead"
He can only spawn every 15 days, so that’s probably why. Unless you’re playing Dead kiwi Center on the specific day he can spawn, it’s impossible to see him without cheats.
As others have mentioned, the tenth class is a running gag in TF2 itself. There are, for example, Halloween decoration headstones on haunted maps that read RIP the tenth class Although I will say, and that's many years later, technically TF2 now does officially have a tenth class in the form of Saxton Hale. Just like the original tenth class, the Civilian, only used in a special game mode.
1:30 I’m so sad you didn’t get closer while he was shooting to show off his model. Also you didn’t mention how he shows up in the passing as a zombified survivor 8:44 the sandvich
The fallen survivor was an enemy that was originally cut, so They used a cleaned up model for whitaker, when the passing released, fallen survivors were added into the game. Multiple fallen survivors can appear in the passing. Also, How was an infected whitaker supposed to make his way to the location of the sacrifice/passing, at the same time as the survivors?
@@RiverSomethingOrOther yeah, that’s because They use the same model. It’s most likely not whitaker. There Are around 3-4 fallen survivors that appear during the passing as well (one is guaranteed near the beginning of the campaign), there cant be four whitakers either, and again, How Was he supposed to Get to the location of the passing faster than the survivors in their car? Fallen survivors Are mostly used for world building, and can rarely appear during crescendo events in the passing, and almost all l4d1 campaigns.
I was hoping you'd talk about how in multiplayer you used to be able to cry in the mic like the witch and if you were lucky you could make a horde chase the enemy team as if a witch was alerted
In Dead Center one of the mall shops is “Disco Pants and Haircuts” if Nick goes up to it he will say “There is a lot of space in this mall”. This is a reference to the Blues Brothers, in which during a car chase in a mall Jake Blues points out a store named Disco Pants and Haircuts, and his brother Elwood replies with the same line Nick says.
Also cool fact about the gnome, his name is chomsky and recently he was sent to space! If you open left 4 dead 2 now you will get an achievement relating to this event
The 10th is the civilian. It was a playable “class” in tfc. They had plans on adding it to tf2, but then was scrapped due to it being a MELEE ONLY class. Boasting only a crowbar
in addition to the 9 classes, there were also released some action figures of robot classes from MvM and a robo-sandvich thing as well. with the "meet the team" series having 10 installments, including "meet the sandvich" i think that'd be the most likely candidate.
During Dark Carnival I hoped the devs would made it a rare chance you run into them during the finally as zombies. Just like the Jimmy Gibbs zombie spawn being rare.
Real talk i want a *Proceeds to say an idea that is lowkey mediocore and you would need to dedicate your whole existence in order to do that idea making it impossible to pull off."
I mean it would make sense that Saint Lidia II crashed after rescuing the survivors. Since they're most likely carriers they probably zombified whoever was on that boat like with the helicopter pilot in Crash Course
Also, Gabe Newell successfully launched Gnome Chompski to space. I also think that the 10th toy is the SANDVICH as it is shown in the meet the team series
In The Passing there's an Easter Egg that refers to Frank West from the Deadrising series. It can be found in the pool hall in the room with other survivors messages on the wall.
Oh god, steam pipe! That sent me back a good decade, I remember the steam pipe updates to source games just completely destroying mod compatibility for the longest time. A lot that didnt get updated (like my fave korsakovia) are very tricky to get running correctly even to this day from my attempts lol
11:37 thats the symbol of chaos on his arm, im guessing the skulls represent the survivors since there are 8 of them, putting it together might be a message that the survivors are stuck in a constant loop of chaos and are bound to each other by the unrelenting hell they all reside in.
I remember seeing something about jockey textures being inside a vent and it being really creepy Edit: turns out there was this old video of a glitch where the jockey textures got pasted inside the truck on the 2nd chapter of dead center (the one near spawn at the tents)
My favorite easter egg is at the The Passing last chapter wherein, 3 male survivors "Look!" at Bill's corpse then: Nick/Coach "Look!" at Francis. Ellis "Look!" at Louis. And Francis has the same dialogue to both Coach and Nick.
Also in the last stand theres 22 location where u could find a golden crowbar and use it also theres another room where the devs put rip jim French the voice actor of bill who sadly passed away
8:45 the tenth class is a classic TF2 joke. The joke is that there’s a secret selectable 10th class somewhere in TF2. Some people say it’s the civilian. Though I guess technically now it’s saxton hale with the latest update? :)
2:23 there is another bit to the easter egg regarding Jimmy, when killing the zombie version Ellis will scream "noooo" as he is a great fan of the pilot, even saying some lines in that during the campaign
One that isn't mentioned is that in The Passing - The Undergrounds, there is a briefcase with pistols, a magnum, and money located inside of it. This is a reference to the Midnight Rider's song "One Bad Man" which "A briefcase full of pistols and money" is a lyric of. Coach will sing that part of One Bad Man if he sees it, and Ellis will say "Hell yeah!".
I wouldn't really call it as much of a Easter Egg but found pretty cool, whenever you continiously keep getting good amount of kills, Ellis goes, "Goddamn Annie Oakley!" which is a woman back in the early or mid 1900's who had mad sharp shooting skills.
Most of The Passing's chapters starts with a survivor infected near/right at the start. Finally if you've ever wondered why that bollard by the elevator glows in the Passing's Finale, it's a failsafe mechanism to start the finale proper should scripting somehow interfere with the start. You *must* use it before putting the last can in or the game will softlock to a wipe.
for 8:46 if I had to take a wild guess it could be a few things... In 2009-2011, there was a planned cut class for TF2 called the Civilian that was being worked on for a custom VIP gamemode where a team would escort the Civilian Player to a point in the map fending off the enemy team. It also could be a Turret. I don't think there's a chance for it to be Saxton Hale, Administrator, or Pauline since they were not really popular or really characters at the time L4D2 was in development.
2:45 - Jimmy Gibbs also gets motor oil on the player's screen when he attacks, similar to the Mud Men. 8:43 - I think the 10th TF2 action figure would be Ms. Pauling or the Administrator
During the development of TF2, it was originally going to have 10 classes, the tenth being a Civilian. Possibly a class the rest of the mercs have to defend.
Depending on when the box was made, the tenth box might have been supposed to have Merasmus as the last character. He was originally intended to be a playable character.
The Tenth toy is the Civilian from Team Fortress 2 Classic, which was the Tenth class untill they took him out in Team Fortress 2 which sets it now at 9 classes
You can find many dead rising achievements too. A message from frank west himself saying fast zombies are too strong and the achievements for killing 100000 zombies is purposely 1 more kill then dead rising
It feels out of character for Ellis to say "dude, this is just like team fortress 2" but feels so IN character for Louis to say "this is just like counter-strike!" And I don't understand why
The NPC model used for Whitaker is just a re-design of the fallen survivor, in his Team Fortress 2 promo he looks totally different, so probably that model was made without really thinking about "him" but just a random placeholder. About Jimmy Jibbs Jr., it doesnt appear randomly, but exactly every 15 days in game, with a 33% chance of taking the place of one of the zombies in the atrium.
The Jimmy Gibbs easter egg was actually originally cut content that was only available through console commands or modding. It was reimplemented when the source weapons were added to the game in that last big patch (or the one before, can't remember).
Wait- with the jute box having the reverse song saying, “Bill is dead.” Does that mean since he’s the only L4D character in Dead by Daylight, all the characters in such game are all dead? 👀
im gonna guess and say the tenth figure is meant to joke about how there IS no tenth class in tf2, and has been a joke in stuff like tf2, where one of soldiers taunts he slams down a crudely made gravestone that says "Rip the Tenth Class" on it, then remarks a voiceline. thats just my best guess though.
pretty sure this one is just a cool fact that a lot of people may already know, but the voice actor for Church Guy in Death Toll is Nathan Vetterlein, who also voiced the Scout from TF2
Theres an easter egg in the first chapter of the parish where you can go inside a bar with a jukebox, when you play the song Re: your brain to the part of "your all gonna die screaming" after the part finishes a horde comes, it only works in The Parish and not any other maps
The 10th action figure could be the civilian which is a scrapped class from that game. Maybe they added the Easter egg before they scrapped that class or maybe they added it after and they just decided to say 10 because it’s a little Easter egg to the scrapped class or they just were too lazy to change it.
to the action figures of TF2 (if I'm not late): the 10th figure could be Merasmus the wizard who was supposed to be 10th character but was later in development changed to 'pick random class' (?)
8:36 It could be marasmus for anybody that doesn’t know there’s a wizard in the game called marasmus on Halloween. There’s a game mode where you fight harass us sometimes instead of fighting the other team and he watches monsters are you like a skeleton with a pumpkin head or a floating eye.
I feel like there’s something weird about those mannequins in Dead Center… like why do the survivors laugh when attacking them and why are there so many in the background of the Dead Center poster?
It dont matter how many hours you have you will always find something new. I got probably 1000+ hours from my xbox 360 and my pc in total. And im still finding new things lol.
The game announcer would probably be the 10th character for TF2. She has an actual model design and in early stages of the game. Early development of the game also planned that both teams would have 1 commanding position for a player to give orders to the team and have an overlook of the whole field but not be allowed to actually play in the arena. That Idea was scrapped as some of us know and they could be making a reference to that as well.
5:49 this also happens in whittakers gun shop on the intercom which is located by the door leading to the stairs in the shop, saying a voice line into it will make it sound like its over the intercom system
of what im aware of. ngl wild that there hasn't been another AAA studio to take on horde co-op shooter, it been indie and AA this years keeping the genre alive
Also after the area where you see the midnight riders bus when you go through the bar around the pool table area you'll see a bunch if references on the wall but the biggest one is Frank West from dead rising
