The Burbs are really underappreciated. Both Jennifer and John are Sims 1 original Sims (both were children) and younger me was really touched by them being paired up together as adults when I first played Pleasantview. It's actually nice having ONE family in town who doesn't have hardships at the start of the game, they have the highest scoring relationship out of the married couples in Pleasantview too.
I agree with you, the Hardships do add more reality to the game as well, especially if we look at the state of the country back in 2005 & in today's age lmfaao. But the Burbs made me feel like I was in a family away from my own, seeing normality. ahhh, the trauma & nostalgia~
@@crazymarq4390 Dunno if someone told you yet, but it's easily avoidable: don't grow up your neighbours/friends when growing up your sims before they are teenagers, and you are all good.
Never mind if the family is forgotten, it can still have wholesome moments. Those moments, Lucy bonding with her sister, getting the cat, Jennifer's uprising career, John's, ahm, less succesful garden😂 really made the episode and their story good. And please try something with Lucy and Chandler. I think they would have such beautiful babies😍
Absolutely, this family is amazing if you’re into wholesome gameplay. And omg I didn’t think gardening would be such a struggle 😭 I’ll see where Lucy and Chandler’s relationship goes. At first I wasn’t convinced but he really seems super sweet, so perhaps he’s the one?
Funny, I often give Jen Family as her secondary, but since she is the one carrying the nooboos, she dictates how many...they both usually stay platinum in my game, and a lot twins are usually born.
What a wholesome episode, thank you so so much for these series!! They really brighten up my days :) In my gameplay for the Burbs, Lucy ALWAYS end up with Alexander Goth. Jennifer and John got two more daughters and their middle child (Lisa) just got into university :) Lucy and Alexander moved in together and soon they'll get married 🥰 Another fun details is that we both moved the Burbs in the SAME house, that's a fun coincidence :)

Oh, I really love the Burb family! I just finished playing with a huge branch of the Pleasant family. My Mary-Sue found out about her husband's infidelity, and they got divorced. Lilith was forced to run away from home due to aggression from her family. My Oldie family lives next door to the Brock family; they have a cozy country house with a garden. Coral and Erb decided to take Lilith to live with them. Despite her unusual home, Lilith quickly became involved in helping around the house, changed her style and became calmer. She found herself among people who truly loved her and cared about her. Grandparents often invited their daughter and second granddaughter to visit and talked a lot, until finally, after a long time, the ice broke and they established a wonderful relationship. Angela and Lilith share one dream - to become a general, and now the sisters help each other. At this time, Daniel was able to think about a lot, realize his dream of changing jobs and becoming a socialite. He also got a puppy. He realized that he had always loved his wife, but recently they had stopped working on the relationship. After going through his redemption arc, he reconciled with Mary-Sue and they remarried) They live in their house with a dog and Angela. Lilith, although now close to her family, realizes that this may be because she no longer lives with them. She decided to stay with her grandparents and help them with the housework further. As for the Burb family, Jennifer has established a relationship with her brother and in general the Burb family gets along well with both Pleasant and Oldie. Now all the families have returned from a tour of vacation locations, where everyone had a great time together) I will later pair sunny yellow Lucy with dreamy blue Alexander Goth) The only thing is that I have never had any more children for the Burb family before, Lucy was always alone, but after I saw the charming Leah with you, I started thinking)
Your Pleasant family gameplay sounds amazing, thanks for sharing! I like what you did with the sisters, it’s very interesting and I’m glad they’re on better terms. Also, was not expecting the Daniel redemption arc haha I think the Burb family dynamic works very well with two kids :)
I love the Burbs!! I use to play with them all the time! They were my go to favorites! So many lore videos forget about them especially the people who never played the sims 2. lol
It was so wholesome I couldn't stop smiling. Seeing Leah being taught by John in the exact same spot (I'm pretty sure) as Licy in the kitchen was kinda moving. I dont remember being touched this way by a Sims 4 storyline, Sims 2 yas a really timeless feel to it (Sorry for the comparison)
Can't believe people used to overlook this family, especially since they are related to the Pleasants. In my game, Lucy (and her two younger brothers) had long fulfilled lives and I still engage with their many grandchildren. (And speaking of, I actually named Lucy's niece Leah!)
I think it’s probably because they start off in the Family Bin and their bio is a bit less detailed and doesn’t suggest major drama. Glad they were thriving in your game tho, also that name choice is a cool coincidence haha

Lucy has a hidden family aspiration token in her character files, I always mage her family on the rare times I played them to get her to teen so I was happy with that! I think she should be with Alexander Goth by the way (a fortune sim in the game files)
I love Sims 2 genetics, no doubt. Sadly, that function wasn't present anywhere else as far as I know :( Imagine upgrading genetics to a next level I wish everyone could have such lively and vibrant life as Sims 2 game :) Thanks for the video, Marq. Always nice!
TS2 does have the most in-depth genetics, it also is where genetics were first introduced. Both TS3 and TS4 have only surface genetics (the genetics of parents, while sim is pregnant is passed on), which means if either parent dyes their hair during pregnancy, becomes an occult, or neglects their needs, etc., the baby will only inherit those characteristics. TS2 goes by birth personalties of both parents, as well as shared interests (from surroundings when born, as well as memories). There are dominant and recessive attributes from each parent, and children will have the same attributes from their parents (with a small percent chance of randomness, which will add to their attributes), that they will pass on to their nooboos, and so on... Since, they only pass on birth genetics for their appearance (and personality points), sims will not inherit (unless by random chance), any changes in appearance that their parents make (including hair color, muscle mass, weight gain, weight loss, becoming occults/hybrids: although there are exceptions, plastic surgeries, encouraged personalities, potions, etc.). In TS2, the pregnant sim does need to take care of their needs (because that is where randomness can come into play in drastic ways), but other than their Interests and randomness, birth genetics is determined by birth genetics of parents combined.
I do think this family is kind of boring. But they are a necessity if you're planning a long run in Pleasantview. I'd rather pair my sims up with boring playable sims than with townies with no bios just because it's quicker. That's why I added Bluewater Village and Sim State premades to my LP. Yes, not as fascinating as Don, Dina and Cassandra. But they've got some potential.
I have to say I'm loving these gameplay videos! It reminds me so much of when I used to play The Sims 2! And I never knew you could also CC Carrers too, that's amazing!

Yay, thank you for bringing Burb family! Usually, on my playthrough I make Lucy and Alexander get engaged. Even though I think Lucy, at least in an early teen stage, would prefer having the most amount of friends possible. The episode was so cute and awesome. I also loved the soccer/football career, is there any other careers that you added the sims 2 game?
Thank you! This is the only custom career I have, it’s like the first mod I’ve ever installed so I just left it in, mostly for nostalgia purposes 💀 It just happened to have come in handy in this episode haha
My Burbs also adopted Bailey 😂 John and Jen ended up with 3 more kids, all boys. The oldest boy (Ethan) got murderised by a satellite while cloud watching one day but I refused to let my favorite sim stay dead and Jennifer brought him back lol. Jen also brought home the bacon and I added a greenhouse on the back of their place for John. They're close to the end now and have A LOT of grandkids because Lucy kept having twins for some reason (two sets with Alexander and another pair when she was surrogate for Ethan and his husband, Don and Cass's oldest). Lucy's a journalist, Ethan an architect, Ian a chef, and Scott just graduated with plans to be a fitness trainer.
Not really. I have them in the same neighbourhood as the Goths, the Pleasants, the Dreamers, the Brokes... the only ones far from Willow Creek are the Calientes (and the sl*tty maid), and I think they are better far away from the others. The Calientes belong in Oasis Springs. But, in my game, Lucy is married to Alexander Goth and they have children together (Halley and Apollo, space-inspired names). She is no longer an only child, because she has other three siblings: Lori, Luke and Lauren. Lucy lives close to her parents with Alexander, who is a mechanic engineer (he studied physics like her sister to become a scientist like his father and sister, but he fell in love with robotics). She studied literature in the university but decided to become a lawyer.
I have a habit of welcoming random townies, partially because of the networking benefits and because it makes the house feel more lively 😭 but yea, it gets a bit much sometimes haha
This series is honestly so bomb! Been bonding with The Sims 2 after recently after 16 years and your videos help my gameplay so much. You're so wholesome. I just can't seem to get those realistic camera angles you use and i always play from an upper angle. Is that a mod of some sort you use?
Thank you, glad these videos are useful 😊 I use GunMod’s Free Mode camera mod (it’s on Mod The Sims) because it allows for smoother movements. Technically you can even edit the game files yourself to alter the camera angles and movement to your liking, I experimented with that too at first but there’s a lot of trial and error, and GunMod’s parameters are perfect for what I need. Lmk if you need more info because I realize it’s a bit confusing 😭

To see the wants you have to click the picture usually. I was doing the 100 baby challenge I learned a few things 😂😂. When they age to teens I ship them out probably because I was a horrible teenager 😂😂.
i'm playing this family in my plesantview rotation and i love them, such a lovely family. i was planning on involving them in some kind of drama (because all families in this city are crazy pants freaks with fucked up relations) but i decided to make it right for once. ok, listen up, kids. john is a teacher now and jennifer works in dancing career, lucy is now a lovely teen girl (she is literally so gorgeous i'm freaking out) and i'm planning on to pairing her up with beau broke. lucy is in private school (def not easy to pair her up with beau now lol) and she's playing violing:) moreover, while lucy was a kid, baby boy (named him laurent) was born! he has jennifer's skin and john's hair color + brown eyes as all of them obv. he is a lovely boy soon to be toddler. lucy is on really good terms with her parents now and they are besties with john. john wants more kids but i want to give jen a chance to build up a career beacause she's not the type to be stay at home mom. and the house is not big enough for two kids already..... also fun fact john is a fat guy now and "jump rope" does not help

Some of those households could definitely make for a fun video, the problem might be getting them to fit with the preexisting neighborhood storylines. I’ll see if I can find a way to make it all work :)

You had apples and oranges from the plants, not trees, and they did not go dormant in the winter. 🤷♀️ I play the Burbs earlier on, so my gameplay is always different for them. Lucy grows up with Alexander, and almist always they get together. I also do use mods (or a clean template), to fix the "Grow Up" Aspiration bug in all the basegame hoods. TS2:U indtroduced the feature to have townies grow up with sims, so many of the townies after that will get Aspirations, but even then, there a few to fall through the cracks. I just love the Burbs to pieces❣ Thanks for teminding me why❣👏

I showed him picking the tomatoes but then I showed me selling oranges, so I understand it was confusing haha. But when it comes to the plants going dormant, that’s a very good point because I also thought they were supposed to go dormant and idk what was up with that 😳 Also thanks for sharing your gameplay!
@@crazymarq4390 Ahh, that explains everything, I asked, because I have seen mods that allow the orchard trees to be planted as plants to fit nicely into greenhouses. I never use those mods, but do use some gardening mods, just more for optimization than aesthetic purposes. Perhaps, your plants and trees had already produced their harvest (which can occur up until the early days of winter, when outside a greenhouse). Just to let you know, you can wait to harvest in the spring, because harvesting while plants/trees are dormant will always result in the lowest quality of crops. Also, buying a compost bin will help, because trash can be composted, and your own trash wildly is higher quality to use for fertilizer. Just dispell your thoughts of all the plastics (i.e. dirty diapers, empty chip and snack bags, etc.) and metals (i.e. quick meals), that can go into the compost bin...haha. I do forget, and perhaps you can answer this. I know John's bio was likely an Easter egg, towards a future gardening pack (which eventually came in TS2:S), as it was introduced in TS1:Unleashed, where young Johnny and his family were introduced, but I do not think there was any thought of the hobby system then (that was introduced in TS2:FT). My question is, what is John Burb's predestined hobby? I have not played recently, but if I do remember correctly, it is Cuisine?

Normally this family is boring, because they have the perfect sim life. Last time I changed that, let's create some DRAMA. When they had their second child, Jennifer is not happy about the situation. Because her dreams are ruined. Jhon wanted another kid, Jennifer refused, she didn't speak yo her kids anymore and just neglected them. Jhon the saint he is kept trying to keep the "family together". Until Jennifer got a little to close with Don 🤭. She moved out got pregnant, but took care of the kid and picked up her life again. I gave Jhon knowledge as a second aspiration, to become a mad scientist. He got talen by aliens, did not get pregnant. So he started building robots and that was his new girlfriend. The kids are in college, they have a more relaxed life. The end
@@crazymarq4390 the only reason it happend this way is because Don wanted to make a move on Jennifer. And Jennifer happend to be okay with it, while Jhon was on the same lot.
I don't like this family, because it's typical family that I can made by myself. However i really do love Aspir Family from Desiderata Valley. I think this families have something in common
