Hunting men, gathering women - that is the picture of prehistory as many of us know it. In this documentary, we delve into the realm of gender history, challenging the traditional narrative that has long shaped our understanding of past societies.
Researchers and historians, featured in this documentary, dispute the long-held belief of the male hunter as the primary provider, suggesting a more nuanced perspective of gender roles since the beginning of human history. Early archaeologists, often influenced by the gender norms of their own times in the 19th and early 20th centuries, overlooked evidence that contradicted this simplistic gender dynamic. Utilizing modern forensic science techniques, new discoveries are reshaping our understanding of gender roles, unearthing stories of Stone Age artists, affluent Bronze Age princesses, and axe-wielding female Vikings. These revelations are pivotal in redefining our cultural and gendered past, as this documentary unveils.

Fantastic! I'm really not surprised that women had a much more pivotal role in hunting then the anthropology say's. The worst thing a serious scientist can do is make assumptions and impose their own bias into their investigations.

Hunting didn't have to involve skill or strength. You could just did a hole, and cover it with branches and leaves. Or fish. Fish prefer women. They're attracted to their hormones.
@colinleat8309
@colinleat8309 6 месяцев назад
@@LucyKelly-of6cu That statement is utterly inaccurate, and makes no sense. Fish are attracted to female hormones. If that is a joke it's a terrible one. If you're statement is serious, you might want to do a bit of serious research into human biology/chemistry. I thought this was a serious science channel, but I get responses from people making completely eronious statements, or just plain rude and ignorant.

The exception does not make the rule. If the broad assertions here had merit, we'd see it reflected cross-culturally, throughout history. We do not .. hence the propaganda. The place of man and woman was never forgotten or suppressed, until now. .. men and women are different; no amount of historical revisionism will invert our respective designs.

Did you even watch the video? There were no exceptions. It was proven throughout different cultures and time periods that women played a bigger role in society than what was previously asserted. You are just choosing to be in denial about that for whatever reason. Not every contribution has to be brute strength. The fact that women created cave paintings is a contribution as well. Regardless, women were back then were stronger than today's Olympic athletes, so they were very physically capable of hunting as well.
