When Loki lost control and Hulk pretty much breaks Thors arm I realized that shit was about to hit the fan.

Now that i think about it, I'm Kinda surprised Marvel Animation never made Hulk vs The Thing Movie. How unfortunate

This movie was my introduction to Hela and I saw this way before Thor: Ragnarok. So when the trailer dropped I said “How are they going to explain Loki having a daughter who was never mentioned before?” You can imagine my surprise when I learned they had turned her into Odin’s daughter instead. Then me was disappointed that he didn’t get to see Hela call Loki her father.

The Hulk VS double feature is so much fun.

I like these hulk vs and planet hulk movies because they were made completely different but felt like they happened in the same universe. In planet hulk when beta ray bill said “hulk Asgard screams of the tales of your rage” I thought this movie. Marvel was at they peak.

I forgot how rag-dolled and humbled Thor got in this movie 😭😭😭

Looking back, I do genuinely enjoy this way more than I did as a kid. The only gripe I and "kid me" share is how one-sided the Hulk vs. Thor fight is. (Little me was a Thor fanboy). Like, Ultimate Avengers and the first MCU Avengers show that you can have Thor lose (or be on a path to losing) while still throwing hands. I'm more of a Wolverine guy as an adult, but it still weirded(/weirds) me out that Wolverine made Hulk bleed so much he would've died or fainted if he had the blood-loss tolerance of a normal human, but Thor couldn't even scratch him. Otherwise, I genuinely love Bruce and Hela's portrayals in this movie. It doesn't take much to outdo late MCU Banner, but the fact he makes the hero sacrifice in this movie does him wonders. I also really love seeing Hela's portrayal: She's so much more than the black and white villian she is in Ragnarok. I don't know how accurate she is from a mythological perspective, but she's so much more morally nuanced and the movie genuinely leaves me wanting to see more of her. She's kinda like less tsundere/aggressive Death from Puss in Boots 2, which makes sense since they fill the same role.

I love this movie. Second to Hulk vs Wolverine, third if we're including Planet Hulk. But it's still pure solid action. Seeing Hulk tear through Asgard was metal as hell.

I can't believe the coincidence of me rewatching the Hulk vs Wolverine video and asking when you were gonna make the Thor one Wish we got more of theses type of short movies, idk it would be nice to see a Hulk Vs Ironman or even a Vs. with other characters since Marvel in the comics got a lot of cool team-ups that an animated short would be nice to explore

I first watched this when I was little. I was really sick so I was unable to go to school that day, and my dad picked up two movies; Hulk vs and X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Its always been a memory I'll never forget.

I appreciate how this movie delves into Bruce's psyche and desires since the Wolverine segment is a straight up Wolverine movie guest starring Hulk. I also enjoy the grandiose introduction given to Asgard since Thor was still considered B-tier and how well they managed to capture the breathtaking locations and the supporting cast of his world. I can't really defend Thor getting dogged on by the Hulk other than "Hulk takes top billing" and Hulk is one of my favorite characters, but even against a mindless, Banner-less Hulk, the fight could've been a bit closer. Something else I appreciate in the Lionsgate films are the end credits where most of them showcase the artwork from the original comics, furthering that whole "bringing the comics to life" aspect and something of a "now go read the comics where these characters hail from."

I watched both recently after having not seen them ever since I was a kid. Admittedly, I am a bit biased since Thor is one of my favorite Marvel characters, and I think he's so underrated, but I came out thinking Hulk vs Thor was the much better story. I still think Hulk vs Wolverine is much more striking, and that it came off like the writers had a better grasp of the characters that they were using, but that it was a weaker narrative. Hulk vs Thor has a great structure, and displays a still impressive grasp of the characters, which lets them shine in a very taut, intense storyline.

It’s my personal headcanon that the reason Hela gave Banner his dream afterlife was because she saw all the shit he had went through in life when she collected his soul and went, “Damn his life was hell already. I don’t need to add to that”.

I enjoyed Hulk vs Thor the most, the idea of Hulk without Banner's restraint was very interesting.

This... THIS is the kind of Thor and the kind of Hulk that I love.

When I saw this for the first time as an adult, I’m just taking in the amazing comic accurate Asgard and its characters. After how the MCU sometimes fumbles with Thor, it’s so fucking nice to see so much respect given to Thor and the 9 realms! And Hulk just continues to be such a compelling character outside the MCU. We need more Marvel comic accurate project that aren’t MCU related too.

I’m so glad you’ve been covering a lot of these hulk related movies lately. With MCU treating him like a joke he’s lost most respect. This brings light to his better days. Hopefully Spoilers: Redhulks appearance and Hulks cameo in Deadpool means something for the future.

I honestly thought you forgot to cover this movie. It was first hinted at in Hulk vs Wolverine video that came out 6 months ago. So kudos.

The reason why I enjoyed Hulk vs Thor more than vs Wolverine was the former movie was able to show the dynamics between Hulk and Banner. Hulk is many things but one significant thing people forget is that Hulk is a tragedy. Whatever heroic thing he does, he will always be feared and seen as a monster. Whenever things are good, somehow Hulk would make a rampage in a city. How many friends he gets or team he may be affiliated in, he will always be alone. The best thing that could ever happened to Banner, which was captured in the mini series, was death. He was finally at peace. But in the end, Banner still chose the right thing.

I miss Marvel made more of these one off animated adaptations. I wish Marvel would go back to that for other storylines that can fit into these short films. Especially the ones that will just never be able to be told in the MCU. I'd kill for an animated adaptation of Gorr the God butcher storyline, or House of M idk whatever storyline you can think of that just wouldn't work in the MCU.

Decent movie overall but one aspect about it I didn’t like is how one sided they made the fight, Thor and Hulk have gone toe to toe multiple times throughout Marvel history and even at the Hulk strongest Thor has always been able to hold his own, so the idea of Thor being “outclassed” here never sat right with me.

I'm still so mad that the Hulk VS series nor any other of the Marvel-Lionsgate films are on Disney+. If Disney worked out a deal with Sony to get the Spider-Man films on Disney+ in America, Disney should also negotiate with Lionsgate to get those films on Disney+ too because some of those films were produced by Kevin Feige.

I hate to admit this, but as a little kid, I didn't like "Hulk vs. Thor" as much as I liked "Vs. Wolverine." But that was only because I never really cared about Thor as much as I did Wolverine. But after the MCU stuff, I have a lot more respect for the Norse God so I went back & rewatched it after all these years, and it's actually pretty good.

Crazy how this is the best Thor movie ever. I wish they kept Thor “Shakespearean” instead of making him a frat boy.

Honestly I think Thor can be a pretty entertaining character in the hands of the right writing team. Most of the fights involving him in EMH are really amazing.

I haven't seen the Hulk since I was a kid, but I remembered liking both films for different reasons. I liked Vs Wolverine cause of the blood and violence, Hulk fighting Wolverine in general, and throwing Deadpool in there was just icing on the cake. But remembered tuning out when they decide to cover Logan's weapon X origins, I've seen it played out a number of times before seeing the movie and I remembered "this again?", only tuning back in when Wolverine found Banner in the facility. Meanwhile, I liked Hulk vs Thor as a kid because of the concept of separating Hulk and Bruce for realizes. I remembered watching the old cartoons and games of Banner trying to get rid of Hulk, I'd never thought I'd actually see it at that point, *or thought of the ramifications of separating them* so seeing seeing Hulk staring down Thor with no Bruce, Loki, or anyone holding back with red eyes made me go "... oh... you should probably run Thor". I was always wondering if Bruce could separate him and Hulk, but never thought if he should. With no humanity to keep the monster in check and calm it down, his anger would just keep rising to surpass the gods, as Thor put it "you've brought Ragnorok down apon us all!" And the ending does make me sad, the gods cheering and clamoring Bruce's name, but Bruce gets none of that and is just walking down a highway trying to not get caught by the government, forever a lonely man. But that's why the Hulk/Bruce Banner is my favorite superhero, even after getting a taste of paradise, he still gave it up to save those around him, and gained way more respect for Bruce than I already have at that point. Tl;dr Vs Wolverine got fun action and characters, Vs Thor has story and concepts that got my attention. P.s. Hela is hella thick, and the MCU don't have the balls to adapt Enchantress

They are both amazing. To this day when Loki attempts to lift Mjolnir and Thor says "you will it's THUNDER. FOR ODIN FOR ASGARD!!!" One of my favorite Thor moments ever.

Something i really hate about this movie is that Thor looked *way* too weak. He is supposed to be the one guy able to stop the Hulk if he was ever to get too out of control. The God who can push worlds. And yet, Hulk was dominating him 70% of the movie and it’s honestly shocking to see that Wolverine looked like he had better chances against Hulk than Thor.

"I didn't give a sh*t about Thor!" Me, too! When I bought the DVD, I thought that I wouldn't watch the Thor side but 1 time and that was it... but ohmygawd! It is indeed my favorite of the two! I absolutely loved Hulk beating the tar out of gods that had never dealt with strength like this before! When he started going HAM on Hel, I was all grins!!!!

As a kid I didn’t understand the Norse mythology and Thor as a character so watching this was always difficult for me to wrap my brain around. Hulk vs Wolverine was just more digestible and fun for me. Definitely prefer HvW but I’ll happily give HvT another chance

While people may be used to the more anti-heroic Loki popularized by Tom Hiddleston's portrayal and the current iterations of him in the comics, Ikol (after the death of Kid Loki) m, this is what Loki was originally, a trickster driven insane with jealousy that ultimately sabotages himself, just as mythological Loki is fated to lead to Asgard's destruction again and again in the cycles of Ragnarok. While the film only really pays lip service to the concept of Asgard suffering through cycles of destruction (instead focusing specifically of the cycles of warfare caused by Odin's periodic absences tempting enemies of the realm to attack), the theme of cycles is still intrinsically tied to Thor as a character, the burden he carries being tasked with the safety of the Nine Realms (which the films somewhat tap into for drama primarily during his first three film appearances before it became more focused on adventure and comedy). 12:23, And at the same time, Bruce is trapped in his own destructive cycles because of Hulk, a cycle he gets a glimpse of a way out of, just as Thor is nearly freed from the constant battle and loss he's had to endure for centuries, but in the end both of them, for better or worse, remain trapped in their respective cycles, forced to make peace them, as the only escape either of them may find is ultimately in death (which Hela alludes to when claiming that eventually, when Thor dies, she will have his soul). Bruce and Thor being caught in their own cycles also parallels the previous films use of Hulk and Logan, who are both animalistic monsters consumed by savagery, plagued by violence, but ultimately being a force of positive change by fighting monsters worse than themselves, who go out of their way to harm others, as both Logan and Hulk mostly fight to defend themselves or avenge others.
