Lol outside of music, a lot of guys in NW/W were shook of Iceman. I remember seeing him by Bush Green circa '06 - guy just had that intimidating presence. Nasty Jack knew exactly what time it was, thats why he went from piping up to diffusing the situation when he saw Iceman weren't having it.
Thing is, when iceman was spitting, it wasn’t even called grime, it was different styles of dark/road garage that was going around different parts of London. When you watch the risky roadz 2 dvd, slk and musical mob were spitting on a speed garage instrumental and one of their mcs even refers to what they were doing as garage, during the interview portion. The grime name came around 04/05, but even then, not everybody in London was doing music that would classify as grime. A lot of mc’s were doing stuff that meshed in as one, because of the street nature and the electric sounds seemingly going well together. Grime is a just one big umbrella of different electric styles, when you think about it.
its different with ice and riot because they were influenced more by direct family than their own block, and it hurts bc if ice knew better he coulda gone far
Madness. I didn’t kno about Ice Man doin time locked up. Wasted talent. Maybe wud’ve been a different route if all the MCs in the early 2000s was makin more paper thru Grime music, cud’ve concentrated more on music/increasing their audience. If only RU-vid was more popular around the mid 2000s, nd released earlier. But tbh, Grime wudnt be Grime if it wasn’t all underground on pirate radio. Wud of been nice to see them be paid tho
