To be fair to "Sesame Street", wasn't that episode scrapped due to the kids in the test audience thinking their own parents were gonna split? Also FINALLY, someone else who remember the "Happily Ever After" show!! Unlike the Disney remakes, they handled the diversity so much better and with so many guest stars too. Though the "Pinocchio" episode does kinda hurt due Chris Rock and Will Smith being in it. And then there's the "Snow White" episode where it's recently discovered that the voice actress for the mirror, Buffy St. John, wasn't Native American as we had all thought but Italian. "You're The One" still slaps though...
Buffy wasn't Native American? There goes my childhood. Anyway, yes, I probably should have acknowledged that the Sesame Street divorce episode was scrapped because it apparently traumatized kids. But I still think it was such a missed opportunity. As the creepy uncanny puppet lady said best, "Divorce is a grownup problem, but unfortunately, it hurts children too." So I honestly think not prepping kids for divorce will leave them in an even more traumatized state than if it comes to them off guard. And I honestly think this special handled divorce in the best way it could for kids.
@@vcandrewscritiquer I'm afraid so. I didn't grow up with much of her work other that "Happily Ever After" But man it still hurts! Also, I agree about the Sesame Street topic; it could’ve worked if the writers went with the Don Bluth approach of remembering to have a happy ending. Though I'm sure Jim Genson had kept that in mind as he was behind "Labyrinth" and "Dark Crystal".
